The patch packages abilites all DLC, but there was an increase in time and fought well.

a response from EA they said to do a procedure

"1. Close out of the game. Go to My Documents / Bioware /Dragon Age / Settings
2. Should There Be a file called Addins.xml. Open up WordPad, Notepad or any XML editor.
3. You want to replace all of the entries say ThatRequiresAuthorization = "1" with RequiresAuthorization = "0"
4. Save and close the document.
5. Try running the game. "

But it just did not go away saying the contents allowed

Editing the addins.xml to not require authorization (changing the 1s to 0s) will break the DLC. Reward items will not spawn correctly into inventory and areas such as Sulcher's pass will not trigger correctly. Yes, I reliaze EA tech support said to do it. They appear to be a little slow on the uptake with this one. Re-edit the file to require authorization again. If you are still experiencing authorization problems with the addins.xml corrected and the 1.05 patch installed, my guess would be that your login is incorrect or that your password contains non-standard characters which the login service does not recognize.

See my problem is...why do we as paying customers have to jump through all these god damn hoops to get what we paid for working while those who continue to pirate never run into problems because they just break the protection they put on the games?

It's counterproductive.  Their DRM is ridiculous.  I don't want to have to troubleshoot a product because their DRM doesn't work.  This isn't my problem to fix, it's EA/Biowares.

Fix it with a proper patch.  Disable your DRM if that's what it means.  I shouldn't have to try different solutions to see what works for me.  Spend time researching how to fix a problem and it doesn't work?  Why?  Not everyone is unemployed/off school for the summer.  Surprisingly most of your paying customers have jobs.  On top of this how long ago was it that we were inconvenienced by having our accounts hacked and having to change our passwords?

Get your **** together.  You give your customers more problems than solutions.

so am I right to assume that the character importing wont be fixed (all characters considered to be dead if left at Vigil)? even this version isnt fully out yet, so 1.06 will take what - a year?
P.S: i know it is not a big deal since they only make a cameo or none at all appearances further on, but still, in games like this (dragon age, neverwinter, mass effect) i ussually do import saves it just adds a bit of extra fun

A "strange" thing i have a dragon age ultimate edition and havent experienced a single DLC bug

Blood Dragon Age armor worked prior to the patch along with some of the common promo DLC items (The Edge, Helm, Mark of Vigilence) via manual download and install with DAUpdater.

Could not access/download via in-game Stone Prisoner (redeem code with disk purchase). Manual installed via DAUpdater but doesn't appear in game. Note: started a second game with new character and the game informed me that Stone Prisoner was not authorized.

Could not access/download Warden's Keep via in-game. Manual install but nobody appears in camp to trigger it. However, I did obtain the ore, so the 'ambush' was triggered properly.

Could not access/download Feast Pranks (both) via in-game - manual install but doesn't appear in Bhodan's inventory.

Via Bioware's site (http://social.bioware.com/page/da1-dlc), none of the DLC shows up as purchased or can be downloaded, so I could not re-download from there. Attempting to re-use the code for Stone Prisoner failled.

Conclusion 1:
Patch 1.05 failed for DLC authorization of all the in-game DLC content - Warden's Keep, Stone Prisoner. The older promo codes when downloaded and installed via DAUpdater worked fine. So it looks like it's an EA authorization constipation or another for Unlawful Carnal Knowledge-UP.

BUT I did get the free BONUS of SLOW loading. Gee thanks EA, ever so generous with problems.

Conclusion 2:
DLC which shows up as Other Campaigns (Witch Hunt, Awakenings) seems to work fine when manually installed.
Witch Hunt downloaded installed via DAUpdater
Awakenings downloaded from EA and burned to disk reinstalls fine.
(Note: installed Witch Hunt and Awakenings AFTER patch 1.05 was applied.)

Conclusion 3:
BioWare makes games; EA makes problems playing the BioWare games. EA is like a rickety dangerous bridge you have to cross to get to BioWare games.

Conclusion 4:

Why would I want to have anything more to do with EA or this new Origins scheme - they should have called it Awakenings in honor of how bad well it works.

Note: All types of DLC show up under the Installed Content tab of Downloadable Content.

[*]Q: What do I do if I encounter increased loading times after installing the 1.05 BETA?
A: If you simply want to go back to how things were, you can roll back to Patch 1.04 at any time, returning your game to its previous state. .

How can you roll back 1.05 to 1.04? Assuming you don't mean uninstalling and re-installing everything

I did check that. And after your post, rechecked it several times - top to bottom as well as word search on the page. But there's nothing there on rolling back the 1.05 patch that I can see. A google search doesn't locate anything either.

You also answered the same in another post (1.05 patch problem) and neither Yiffy99 or myself can see a link for instructions on doing a roll back to 1.04.

Thanks.

The authorization software checks the redeemed content associated with your account on this site. If it is not showing up as authorized for your account here, it will not authorize in-game. The only solution for that is to contact EA support directly and make sure that the content is added to your correct EA profile. That is not an error with the patch.

As for directions to roll back the patch, I cannot search for them at the moment, but I will look again tomorrow.

NVM - in the process of re-installing to get rid of 1.05 since it doesn't fix the problem and creates another.

EDIT: you are correct - the game is not acknowledging DA:O DLC

-re-installed per instructions - DA:O, DA:A, patch 1.04 - didn't fix it - EA servers no longer available
-- uninstalled

- checked with EA chat support - DLC now shows up on my BioWare page and on in-game DLC content tab
-re-installed per instructions again DA:0, DA:A and patch 1.04 didn't fix it - error message says: "EA servers no longer available"
-- uninstalled

-re-installed DA:O, patch 1.04, manually added all DLC - while much of the DLC is now accessible, The Stone Prisoner and Warden's Keep still don't show up.
-- uninstalled yet again.
-re-installed DA:O patch 1.04, manually added all DLC, patch 1.05 - same as above - might work if I start a new game, but there's no way to tell until I get to Camp for the Warden's Keep or have the ambush encounter triggering the Stone Prisoner. Can't be bothered being a beta tester and starting a new game just to test that out.

Conclusion: 1.05 is great for slowing load times in the game
Conclusion: EA  is getting better at borking things.
Prediction: the new EA Origins will be replaced with something else within a year, borking more games.
Prediction: EA will change their logo hoping that will fix everything (except their magic level isn't high enough)
Prediction: won't be ordering anything with EA on it

For those of you who have no problems with DLC or loading slow-downs, my envy; but it's not worth it when 'fix time' begins to exceed 'play time.' Life's too short to waste on EA/BioWare. Hope they do a better job on DA 3 for you.

Initially I don't know whether to laugh or salute.  I choose the latter because I think that's not far off the mark.

All we know for certain that this patch means is that they are trying to tackle the DLC authorization issue. Several devs, including Mike Laidlaw, have said publicly that they would like to fix the import issues. Whether that will translate into an actual fix remains to be seen.

I currently run game version 1.02a with several DLC packages enabled through the use of editing the .xml files to not require authorization or to require a different game version because I will not use 1.03 or later while quest-breaking regressions remain unaddressed.  I have not encountered any of the problems you have mentioned.  Obviously, some DLC like Leliana's song may not work properly if 1.03 (or later) is not installed, but quest rewards (e.g. Battledress, Song of Arlathan, etc.) can be enabled if the AddIns.xml is edited to not require authorization and/or to require a different version of the game (1.02 in my case).  This allows the items to be awarded properly or to be added to a new character's inventory.  I did this on my own volition, and not at the urging of EA support (which doesn't provide any meaningful support for this game).  I wouldn't encourage anyone to do this because of the risks involved and the problems it poses for updating your game afterwards, but if you must do it, I would urge you to backup your AddIns.xml and Manifest.xml files (from the Settings folder) before making any changes.  Again, I didn't run into any problems mentioned until I needed to load more DLC, which required me to restore the original files and then re-edit them afterwards.

I've followed the progress of DA:O since November '09 and I've never seen a reliable method of "rolling back" a patch aside from reinstalling the game and updating to the previous patch.  I also searched for directions in the solutions thread and found nothing that might suggest this has changed.  Your best option to run the game in as-near-flawless mode as possible is to run under 1.02a, without Awakening.  Obviously, this is disappointing if you want to play the expansion, but it is a reliable setup.  Blaming EA for the current situation is counter-productive.  Providing support for a game is something that is budgeted by the publisher, yes, but when a developer introduces regressions in a software update, it is their responsibility to fix those regressions.  Bioware has not done this.  For this reason, it would be much more appropriate to hold them responsible for the current state of the game than the publisher.

Just adding that setting a different required patch version can also cause issues.  Changes were made in 1.03 to the UI to allow advanced specializations and skills to appear for post-campaign DLC/expansions, so while it may "fix" the authorization, it can seriously break the rest of the game. The Ultimate Edition comes pre-patched to 1.04, so this fix will not work at all for UE users. Given that there are far more reliable (if more time-consuming) ways to fix the authorization issues, this is one of those things that qualifies as an avoid at all costs for 90% of users.

This entire thread is completely useless to anyone who purchased Dragon Age from Steam until Bioware releases the patch and quits talking about it as a beta patch. Please release the patch or at least a fix for the unathorized DLC issue because until you do I can not play DA because I can't get the golem and Shale is one of my favorite characters. I purchased Awakenings and I can't play it until I can get Shale again on my brand new Corei5 system, as soon as I reinstalled  on the new system and downloaded the DLC, all of my DLC's are saying "unauthorized"...please fix this for Steam users too ASAP...thanks Image IPB

Steam users can redeem the EA digital version of the game, or utilize the extensive solutions linked in the solutions round-up thread. BW is not going to release a patch that has such enormous known issues and if they knew how to magically fix the issues the patch would have been out months ago.

As for rolling back to patch 1.02a, it is not an option for UE owners as the game comes pre-patched to 1.04, and is not an option for anyone wanting to run post campaign content (WH, GoA and DAA).

Again, while the patch is the easy fix, the manual solutions to every issue the patch addresses can be found in the solutions round-up thread.

Just a quick note to the congregation... kudos to sami jo and others for keeping this thread and others up-to-date. I've been out for the last month or so dealing with family stuff, moving, and starting grad school. I hope to have the Solution Round-up updated, or possibly a draft of a more comprehensive technical FAQ, up by Labor Day (early September).

my authorization probs were fixed when i manualy added da updater service in services.exe. i had to format windows and this time i found an installer for that service in the da folder since its from ea origin. those who havnt tried this shud do so. i think its really useful for the steam version too. if u dont know how to add it manually -iam happy to help. without this service running in services.exe da doesnt have the required connection to check your ea account for purchased DLCs. i dont know y this service is not installed during game installation. iam using dao ultimate

We are diligently working on finding a solution to this issue. Unfortunately we have very limited information due to the small sample of users not only play DAO but that are also actively posting on BSN. Currently we're trying a new tactic as to figuring out the exact cause of the issue - assuming it works out we'll have a live version as soon as possible.

Thanks for the patience and I apologize for the radio silence.
