No ETA yet as the root cause still hasn't been identified. You can roll back to patch 1.04 if you want for the moment.Manman02 wrote...
When does the non-beta of this patch will come out? The long area loading time issue is annoying me.
Edited to remove mention of roll-back instructions as I can't find any. Best solution appears to be a de-install/re-install with patching if you don't have the UE, apologies for any confusion caused, (edit to add) or, if you kept a copy of the 1.04 daorigins.exe file just replace the 1.05 one with that. If anyone does know a reliable roll back method feel free to throw a link up somewhere

This all just to hamper used game sales, pirating, etc? You should consider yourself so lucky. I don't think pirates have this problem. Please don't fool yourself, the only people getting irritated by this are paying customers, like me, who can't actually play a legitimate copy. I don't blame the pirates, I blame you, if you trust the comments, their copy works better.
2 Months, and you still haven't fixed your "patch" (a.k.a your fix to fix something else that needed fixing, because it was broken by a previous fix)? Can you see now why I'm frustrated?

I have the retail edition myself but if I understand the Origin set up correctly you should only need to run the updater service/log in once to authorise content, after that you can shut it down.
And while I appreciate your frustration when it comes to DRM you're better off contacting EA directly via their support site, most of the people responding here are players, same as you. If the content still isn't authorising once the updater's installed have a look at some of the sticky threads at the top of the sub-forum.
Hope that helps.

I've been looking at the stickies (specifically the Solutions Roundup thread), and there don't seem to be any instructions on how to do the rollback. I've been experiencing the loading time increase problem ever since installing 1.05, so I would just like to get rid of it. Is there anywhere else I'd be able to find this information? Thanks in advance.

I've had a look and I'll hold my hands up to getting that wrong, I can't find any reliable way of fiddling to roll back the game, the best option appears to be backing up all your characters, saves, add-ons and screen shots, de-installing the game, running CCleaner, then re-installing the game and (If you don't have the UE) patching up to 1.04, (edit to add) or, if you kept a copy of the 1.04 daorigins.exe file just replace the 1.05 one with that. Sorry for the confusion - I'll go back and edit my other post.
If anyone knows any another reliable roll back methods feel free to throw a link up somewhere

A:
The Steam service unfortunately doesn't support BETA patches. However,
all PC/Mac users who have registered their game automatically receive
free access to the full-game download via EA's Origin service. If they
wish, users who have purchased the game through Steam can uninstall
their Steam version and replace it with their Origin version, thereby
gaining access to the 1.05 BETA patch. Once the patch is no longer in
BETA and sees an official release, Steam users will be able to access it
via Steam's normal patching process."
When this happens? I hope soon!

My point is that 1st rule of DRM should be user transparency... It's not rocket science. Users should know ahead of time, exactly what measure are taken on the product before purchase, and it should always "just work" (Steam anyone? I've got 50+ games, many incl DLC, never one DRM issue). Bottom line is, sure as the sun rises, pirates will always defeat DRM. Given that precept, the DRM shouldn't ever create a headache for actual paying customers. It's the same thing *paying* users have been screaming about for the past few years, yet few publishers manage to get it right.
While as I understand it, developers "aren't the ones putting in DRM", I find it difficult to believe there isn't negotiation on this aspect, or at least complicity if not outright agreement between publishers and developers on which flavor of DRM to use. To that end, it is also developers, not publishers which actually use the DRM wrappers around the game exes that are creating this headache. Regardless of who "mandated" the DRM be used, Bioware did the actual implientation, using purpose built tools to do this. In my mind, that makes Bioware responsible when it doesn't work.
This isn't just a random DRM is the devil post, this is an actual "I get DRM, but here's my problem" post.
Now, for the DRM is the devil part: I just want to point out, that even Apple sells DRM free music. Why? Because nobody wants to pay for something they can't use post-purchase. It didn't bring an end to the music industry, and eventually when the same happens with games, they won't go anywhere either.

dauservice setup is in the folder named _Installer inside the game folder when downloaded from origin. You dont have to run the setup again but it should auto start in services.msc. if it doesnt you have to do it each time by going to services.msc. the service is needed to maintain the connection with ea servers.

I'm not arguing with you on the DRM thing at all (I've had to rebuild a machine twice due to some of the more 'interesting' methods developers/publishers have used on games), but I don't work in the gaming industry so I've little say in the matter beyond making complaints to the companies responsible through official channels or choosing not to buy their products in future.
Making your case via EA's official site may help with future decisions, but again I'm just a player like you so I can't say one way or another exactly who gets final say in these things.

Okies - I asked around and have been told that switching the daorigins.exe file for one with 1.04 installed will roll the game back without causing any problems. There's a mild possibility you'll have issues loading saves done in 1.05 but so far no one has seen any problems.
Hope that helps!

But when i try and install the patch a message saying: Dragon Age: Origins was not found. Please reinstall the game and try again.
I seriously hope this is another of EA's DRM fails, because reinstallation is just annoying.
Could you guys please help me out. (I don't use Steam, am using retail copy)

Ok, so i was hoping that this patch would be able to help with the 'unable to load area' problem i've just started having whilst trying to access the Return To Ostogar DLC for the first time.
But when i try and install the patch a message saying: Dragon Age: Origins was not found. Please reinstall the game and try again.

Again, refer to our thread and see if you can find a fix made by someone (I know we have one for Shale's Rock Barrage). Patch 1.05 will be strictly a DLC fix and nothing more.
