I kind of like the idea of squadmates with varying ages. Jack, Miranda, Jacob, Thane, Samara (relatively speaking), Tali, and Garrus are all within their late 20ies to their 40ies. (I could be wrong about Samara. I'm not sure what stage of her life she's in.) We have a broad spectrum of characters and ideals. It would be interesting to see Mass Effects issues through the eyes of an adolescent.

However, she is autistic (and although this shouldn't be a limiting factor since we have a diet-sociopath on board) it could make interacting with her (and writing dialog for her) difficult.

@GunMoth: Samara is a matriarch. Asari usually don't have children until the matron stage (roughly 350 years old), and since she has been hunting Morinth for over 400 years, that places her in firm matriarch territory.

Gillian is one of three people from the books I'm hoping to see in ME3...
Kahlee, Kai Leng, and Gillian.

16 is bit young for squadmate material, but you never know. The only problem is once she's a squadmate well people are going to demand you-know-what and then...

Although to be fair given Shepard is about 30 and that Tali and Liara are about the equivalent of first year co-eds I'd say Shepard's been robbing that craddle a bit already...

Eh I'd be more interested in seeing Khalee Sanders in-game especially given that she's got a thing going with Anderson. Anderson deserves some sort of happy ending for all the crap he's gone through honestly. Gillian and the other book characters don't really hold a lot of interest for me.

The only inevitable outcome of this thread.

The age of consent is 14-16 in most of the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa.  Even within the US there are many states where the age of consent is 16. Last I checked the Alliance law does not revolve around 19th century U.S. state laws. Or should I say, the common perception of those laws.

I think it should be a cameo only. Only character I liked from the books is Kai Leng.

On the subject of Gillian and romances, I'd say having her and Nick become an item would be the best course of action. I've been waiting for that to happen ever since their little scene in Ascension.

It really depends on what happens in Deception. I'd want her to help me in ME3 in some way, but until Deception releases, it's kind of hard to speculate further.

Well, we've had tali on our team before she was an adult and we waited until she was to romance her. Having a 16 year old on the team could work.

It might not be a good idea to have her in the squad. An autistic teenager who can kill people with her mind...

A cameo would work, squadie... not so much imo. Also, I doubt she even comes close to rivaling Samara/Morinth or Jack in power at this time. Lets not even talk about an Adept Shepard.

Also, my understanding of the pilgrimage was that at the time Tali was an adult physically, but wasn't granted the rights of an adult by her society.

@ Bluko
Shepard is 29 (biologically speaking)
Tali is 24

As for Liar, Im not sure exactly how old she would be considered.

It would be cool to see Gillian, also an appearance from Lemm would also be interesting.

Wouldn't mind her to be in game...but I'm not sure about having her on the squad...her age is a little concerning...even if she is a "super-biotic." And like some others already pointed out, it would create some conflict if she was an LI option (even though I'm sure she wouldn't be).

would make for a fun little side mission if you could aid her in her vengeance somehow since cerberus are out for your blood aswell, it'd also be a nice way to fill in some backstory for those who didnt bother with the novels.

Maybe as a temp squaddie. Or like someone else said, on an escort mission. Having her as a full time squadmate might be a little.. complicated. Although perhaps she could come aboard the Normandy for a short time. I can already imagine Tali being like a big sister to her.

Also, on an unrelated note, how exactly is " Kahlee" pronounced? I've heard people say "Kay-lee" and Kaah (as in the "ca" in "car") - lee.

No. We have enough humans on the squad already.

Since when did conflict ever stop Bioware. There would be no s/s romances if conflict was a deterrent. They only don't allow a LI if it's a sibling (which people wanted as a romance option by the way). People even wanted to romance a turtle-raptor-bug-cat, but Gillian is too much?Image IPB

I'm pretty sure there was a podcast for either Ascension or Retribution (I believe the latter) in which Karpyshyn confirmed it is Kay-lee.

As for for Gillian: yes, that's too far. Speaking of which, I really want to know which pronounciation is considered canon for her.

Actually *looks at Merrill* yeah...BW has made rather young LIs before. I have a hard time believing Merrill's over 18.

Could be likely the only ones I see are Gillian, Leng and Sanders making the jump.
Leng is already confirmed.
Gillian is likely assuming she lives through the book.
Sanders seeing as she is banging Anderson also has nice odds.
