I just hope "stubborn and pigheaded" doesn't end up being synonymous with "mangled and dead" for these anti-seat belt people. This is LIFE AND DEATH we're talking about. I want to live...if you don't, that's your business, I suppose. But don't expect me to proclaim you a rocket scientist.

I'm not sure people are "anti-seatbelt".  Nobody - not me, anyway - is saying you SHOULDN'T wear a seatbelt.  I DO wear a seatbelt.

My problem is that I don't think the government should be forcing me to do so.  As you said, "if you don't, that's your business".  I think it SHOULD be my business - or yours, or whoever else makes that choice every time they get into a car.  It should NOT be the government's business.

That's all I'm saying.

I was going to make a long descriptive posts about how wrong you are on what we "Against anti-choice laws" are saying, but you keep cumming back writing BS about what we never said or are not saying. So there is no point in discussing it anymore as I have no personal beefs with you guys and have no intention of developing one.

So hopefully there will be other subjects we'll be able to discuss in the future.

Thanks.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself well enough.

You personally believe that laws which impact your personal choices, are trampling on your rights.

I have no problem with your viewpoint on this matter, and you are most welcome to express it here. There are a number of variables within that statement which are subject to differ by person however (e.g. definition of 'personal choices', definition of 'rights', perception of what laws do in fact trample one's 'rights')

What I do have a problem with, and feel is quite childish behaviour, is you informing people who do not agree with your personal opinion on the matter, that they are wrong.

This is akin to the classic primary school schoolyard conversation:

Child A: Red is my favorite colour.
Child B: I like Blue better, so anybody whose favorite colour is not blue is an idiot. You are an idiot.

I'm certain that there is somebody out there who believes it is their right to own hand grenades. Likewise, there are probably people out there who believe it is their right to be allowed to engage in rape without punishment. Is the government 'trampling on their rights' by not allowing them to engage in these activities? The answer is subjective, and will differ by person.

I haven't named you an 'idiot' personally, and have no intention of speaking for others partaking in this discussion.  I'm merely taking issue with your assertion that your personal opinion on a subjective matter is correct in an absolute sense, when really, this is impossible, as the matter is entirely subjective.

Hopefully that's a little bit clearer.

Uhm, I didn't say nor suggested that you called me an idiot, I was talking about allot of the others taking part in this discussion. They are being as assertive as I and some others are on their point of view, so I don't see why you get off telling me that about me, call it childish and being bothered by it. Sorry but deal with it. I can't be blamed for being right on the matter. Telling someone that knows the truth and as got it right that it is subjective is a very weak argument and statement. If everything and every point of view are as you say "subjective" then there would be no point in ever arguing on any issue as it would be a given that it ain't gonna lead anywhere. Basicaly no amount of arguing would do anyone any good.

So translation: "Everyone stfu and let things be"

Well that's not gonna fly in this world.

There is not 50 different Truths about each single issue about life, there is only one. While there is only one truth about something, it's not necessaraly without cons, some are some are not.

Ah, of course.  Why didn't I see?  There is no such thing as 'opinion' or 'subjective'.  There is only 1 correct answer to any given issue that has ever been thought of, and, you personally, of course, have the correct answer in all circumstances, including this one.  I guess that must make you God. [extreme sarcasm]

I can't take you seriously anymore.

One day, you'll grow up a little (well, hopefully anyway), and come to realise that for almost any issue that you can define, there will be multiple perspectives from different people on every facet of the said issue.

Should abortion be made illegal?
Should people be allowed to own guns?
Should people be allowed to smoke, anywhere?
Should people require a license to have children?
Should the burqa be banned?

There is no clear single answer to questions like these.  There are many possible perspectives, and each of these is currently being debated (with arguably fair points given from both sides) at a public level somewhere in the world.

If the best that you can do is "Seatbelt laws trample rights because I personally feel that they do, and I am God, therefore I am right on every issue" - there is nothing more to say.
