I'm sorry if this topic has been previously brought up (I'm new to the forums, so this is also my hello).

Question I: What are your expectations for the romantic scenes and what are your thoughts on how you think Bioware will handle them? You can comment on each character and how you think it will play out depending on your status in the first game and whether or not you selected a second partner, etc...

Question II: Despite how you think Bioware will handle the romantic scenes in Me3, how would you like to see them played out? With any character of your preference.

I would like Bioware to get out of the romantic scene = sex scene mentality.

Ya, it would be nice to see Shepard, (at least have the option to), take a more subtle, endearing, and less... physical approach to romance.

^^ This.
I don't think the sex scenes were bad, but you can have something just as powerful, if not more, without them.

I'd like to see something more sensual, not necessarily sexual. Holding hands with Thane was nice, and there should be more small details along that line. As for the scenes themselves, keep to the ME2 style where every character has their own scene that matches their personality. Some of them felt a little short and I'd be fine with something similar to ME1, but not if it feels forced.

It'd also be nice to see the LI check up on Shepard. Thane and Jack's romance scenes had Shepard comforting them; how about the other way around?

For some reason, I found the "tastefully nude" romance scenes from ME1 more classy than the "dry humping" scenes from ME2. I think that the emotional weight of the some of the scenes (particularly Garrus/Shep and Jack/ParagonShep) in ME2 were very well done, but they ultimately felt unfinished and vagued. After the ME2 romance scenes, most of us went, "Wait, that's it? Did they do it or not?!" and I'd like to see that fixed in ME3.

So, ultimately, I'd like to see the romantic dialogue be emotionally engaging--none of this "hey Garrus let's have casual sex"--but when it comes to the sex scenes, I found the ME1 style much more tasteful and intimate.

That's your own fault. Most of the romance scenes in are totally ambigious compared to what was in ME1.

I'd actually like to see more intimate scenes...and no cheese please.

I want to see a jealous catfight between Jack and Ashley. Also one between Garrus and Kaidan.

I've never found nudit to be a major factor in deciding if a romance scene is done well. I judge the emotion of the scene as how the scene is and not the digital boobies.

To me Jack's romance right before they go to bed is one of the best romances because it wasn't about getting her into bed it was about opening her up and getting her to find some measure of peace. The same for Miranda's scene before the romance scene where she wants you to promise not to die and then she hugs Shepard... those are two great romance scenes that didn't need sex to be great.

Nudity =/= better romance scenes.

I would like having romance scenes in more parts of the game, instead of just before the final mission. We could have more casual scenes (dam, a single kiss is enough) for the mid-game romance scenes and a special one before the final mission.

I think someone at Bioware has already said that romances in ME3 are going to be "less of the body and more of the mind", or something like that.

I primarily concur with the rest of you that cutting back for some characters would be a good thing. I found Miranda's and Jacob's scenes to be a little too edgy (or at least trying to be). I can understand them but I do appreciate the subtlety afforded through Jack's or Thane's scene, where they had a kind of epiphany and they realize the depth of their emotional attachment, and that creates meaning. Not to make it too mushy, but just seeing that you've bonded.

I think overall Shepard could be a little more feeling and talkative towards her/his partner in general (calling the people up to sit on their lap/sit on Shep's lap was a little lame and to not have them even talk about the encounter afterwards, except for Tali crushed me a little). Hell, I just hope party banter and more conversations in general happen so I can listen to the amusing comments, as you can learn a lot about their personality that way and how they interact with other party members.

A game of checkers and a cup of hot tea. I don't think we will be seeing anything as mature and well done as the first game's love scenes. They'll be cheap and crummy like Dragon Age II's ones because of the lame direction romance has taken for the third game.

But seriously, I don't expect it to be very satsifying.

Personally, I'd rather have a smattering of various 'romance' scenes. Maybe after a terse meeting, your LI is waiting for you outside, you get to vent your frustration for a few moments, and then you can, I dunno, get a hug or a kiss on the cheek (head bump to the cheek? I'll leave that for the Garrus lovers to clarify). Or you're having A Moment on the Normandy and they swing by to check up on you, you sit and contemplate, holding hands, or claws or whatever.

Ditto, the dry humping was bad.   If they are going to go that route again, at least have some passion in it.

Thane's scene had emotion in it too.  He was crying after all.

I'd like for them to be more about romance and less about toplessness... though try to keep them in equal droves. As much as I'm a sucker for a good romance scene, I still like a little fanservice.

Since Mass Effect is all about choices ... why not in this area as well.

You could have the following choices:

Paragon Image IPB
"I Respect You" = Talking & Hugging

Neutral Image IPB
"I Love You" = Snuggling & Kisses

Renegrade Image IPB
"I WANT YOU" = Rated M Desire

Everyone wins!!!!!! Image IPB

Yes, those little special moments throughout the game would be great. And it would be great to have your LI check up on Shepard for a change.

That's a very good point. We get to make all of the other decissions that effect Shep's life, and I'm sure that every player has their own idea of what a good "romance" should be about. It only makes sense that the players should be able to make this choice too.

I'd be good with the placements (paragon, neutral, renegade) so long as they don't involve points. If it did, I'd find it obnoxious- how does compassion and open-mindedness translate to not jumping bones?

This a million times over.
Ok its Shepards job to check in on everyone in the crew, sure. BUT the LI in paritcular should go see Shep at any given time to see him/her and chk in from time to time since they ARE in a relationship.

Im not really into the whole straight out sex driven scenes unless its actually meaningful. Everyone wants sex sex sex....and oh - more sex! Give me kissing and snuggling/hugging, nuzzling etc, anyday. Sure ok, give us a steamy scene or two, but make it that its romantic and not an all out porn vid. This is the end of the trilogy - these couples have gone through hell and back.[some in more occassions than others - i.e. anyone from me1: Garrus, Tali, Liara & the VS] So give me some dam passion! Image IPB

People mustve seen me pitch this idea on some threads - I vote for silhouetted romance scenes.
Its a good middle ground for what happened in the 2 previous installments. Sure I highly doubt we'll see anything similar to Mass effect 1 [though they should go for it! Supreme court case against gaming was settled. Gaming won ^_^] and I think they should show more than what was done in mass effect 2. I say silhouetted scenes because we cant "see", and yet we can "see". Image IPB Get it? Its not me1, but its more than the fade to black transitions done in me2, which were a complete tease.
