[GoG ToXiC]

Honestly, I've bought one game this year, and that's the new mortal kombat. Which is also awesome. However, when he Halo CE remake comes out this Christmas, I think I know what my GOTY is set to be...

I haven't been inspired to buy anything this year other than Medieval 2: Total War. I've had a blast with it so far, so it gets my personal GotY despite being an old game. I'm waiting on Tribes: Ascend, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine and Skyrim, though none of those are deffinite buys until I see more or get a demo. I might also pick up The Witcher 2 later.

Nothing else really stands out so far.

Since the last present day game I've bought was Fallout: New Vegas, I can't really say what will be GoTY 2011. I've since been replaying Alpha Centauri, Planescape, and I'm pretty far in Baldur's Gate. Nothing really strikes me as a must buy so far, but I know Skyrim keeps calling me even though Oblivion wasn't much past the great graphics and exploration. I just hope that Bethesda learned how to finally write a storyline and hire some damn testers.

Right now, Portal 2 and The Witcher 2

However, Skyrim will almost inevitably win. Bethesda is going to give me 400 hours of gaming nirvana beginning 11-11-11

Since i haven't played either Witcher (yet...), then none. Dead Space 2 and DA2 were big disappointments.

But i know what game will be my GotY...and when the truth of the GotY winner finally dawns... It dawns in FIRE!

ME3 would have to qualify for next year's GOTY, since its release has been pushed up to March of 2012.

Dragon Age 2. Right, no. My game of the year so far would probably be LA Noire. I really haven't bought many new games that have come out this year though.

My GOTY *so far*?

I guess it would be Gears of War 3 since I've played the beta. I fully expect it to change to Skyrim in November.

It actually came out last year IIRC.

Witcher 2 for me as well, I'm looking forward to both Skyrim and Deus Ex: HR as well. Though I suspect I'll like Deus Ex much more out of the box.

Also, are MMOs not allowed to be GotY or something? I'm surprised nobody else thinks TOR has potential to be the best game this year, I can't think of another game I'm anticipating more personally.

I wonder if TOR will even make it this year. Assuming a holiday release there is no way I'd declare it game or the year or MMO for that matter just based on initial impressions. I figure a few months at least will be needed to experience a good portion of what it has to offer. I'm sure the low level content will be a blast but it's the mid to high endgame that really counts.

Well if we are talking about this year? Then nothing really stood out for me to name one but if I had to choose it would be Portal 2 but next year is gonna be way to close to call atm xD

TOR isn't a regular single player game. It's an MMO no one to judge without it being out since the multiplayer aspect is just as important as the crafting and questing. If not more so.

I am excited for it and Bioware is still saying 2011 is the release.

Since I've only purchased 5 games so far this year (that were released in 2011, at least) - my selection is quite slim.
And between Dead Space 2 (nice), Dragon Age 2 (mediocre), Portal 2 (great, but a 5 hour solo, 5 hour coop game just isn't Goty material), Hunted: The Demon's Forge (bleh, but coop playthrough was decent) the only game that stood out was The Witcher 2.
Then again, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Skyrim and Battlefield 3 are still to be released.

it's pretty tight between The Witcher 2, Portal 2 and.... Probably Dead Space 2.

although i don't think people should ask this now, as my opinion will more than like change by the end of the year, this year is Gonna F****ng EPIC.

the ones that i'm waiting for the most (and thus would probably make me change my mind) would have to be:

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception
Swords of the Stars II: The Lords of Winter
Guild Wars 2(it's FREE)
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Battlefield 3 (if this game doesn't take Shooter of the year, i'm gonna burn down Spike TV... Seriously)

And I wouldnt put LA Noire in the running for GOTY, Mortal Kombat and LBP2 I cant comment on because I havent played them yet.

As for my pick for GOTY out of all the games released so far this year I would have to say Portal 2, that being said the year is far from over and there are still a lot of big games that have yet to be released. But in all honesty I really dont care who wins GOTY so long as it isnt LA Noire, I am so sick of people hyping this game to be more than it is and the only thing this game really deserves is to be forgotten.
