According to your logic every Japanese game ever made would be referred to locally by it's Asia release date and not by the local Europe/US release dates, since they usually come out 6-9 months later.

The Witcher 2 is my Game Of The Year.
Im looing forward to Skyrim but i have my doubts also pertaining to the quality that has been produced.

Witcher 2 has also reached my Top 5 game list of alltime which spans 25 years of gaming so ye its going to take something real special to make me change my mind.

of games released so far Dragon Age 2 still has it followed by Dynasty Warriors 7 with Marvel vs Capcom 3 in third place
(Of course I have been too busy playing older games like Oblivion to keep up to date on more recent releases)
By the end of the year Skyrim SHOULD take the top spot (or be the biggest disappointment)

Deus Ex, Skyrim, Catherine, and Saints Row 3 are all looking amazing.
If I had to choose something that already came out I'd say Shogun 2, I had to pump steroids into my rinky dink computer to get it to work on normal settings but it's a wonderful game. Way too overlooked.

The Witcher 2 would be my pick for Game of the year right now as well. Of course we are only halfway through 2011.

I hope Skyrim will be better, but I won't be jumping on the bandwagon unless it turns out to be a better game. There was a lot of hype surrounding DA2 before that game was released too, and when I played it I found it to be a massive disappointment.

Well obiviously...Bethesda has a much bigger following. CDProjekt has only made their second game after all. DA2...on the hand.

So far? DiRT 3, I guess. Then followed by Dead Space 2 and DAII and an honorable mention for F3AR and its fantastic co-op mode. The second half of the year looks very promising, especially Deus Ex and Arkham City.

Looking back now the games are dated, however at the time games like Gauntlet were revolutionary, great steps forward in gaming (hello multiplayer) that live on as great games in my memory.
Im sure in another fifteen years or so the Playstation, Xbox and this gen of  PC games will also be waved aside as unfullfilling pieces of garbage, as we head into even more realistic and dynamic gaming experiences..

Does this mean that the current games are destined to be tomorrows Alex kidd or Altered Beast?
No i dont believe this to be true and i think also we should appreciate the devs who have gone before and paved the way for this generation of devs. After all the games that you enjoy now are made by children from 20 odd years ago, just a thought.

As for my 2nd post here. If I had to pick a title thats already out, it would have to be Dragon Age 2. Now I enjoyed it way more than DA (B)Origins minus the story that gameplay was stale to me. But I wouldn't call either Game of the Year Worthy in a manner. Its just every other title of this year that I've played or preorder or ones close have been crap. Home Front, Duke Nukem, CoD Black Ops, etc etc.

So Far Rage, Skyrim, Saints Row the Thrid, and Warhammer Space Marines are still coming to me via preordernevermind the Halo Remasterd. Rage looks cool as **** but I'm not sure what to expect of it. WH, is like an old school shooter and may be very fun, but given the lack of "Innovation *cough*CODclone*cough*" I doubt it will be up for game of the year unless reviewers are kind to it.

To me it will come down between Skyrim and SRTT. With 2012 going to either ME:3 or Halo 4.

TW2, without a doubt.

Most other games haven't lived up to their expectations, but this game was amazing. It's probably the best thing I've played since DA:O, if not better.

I don't think even the most vocal DAII lovers are going to say its GOTY material.

We're talking personal game of the year, and to be honest DA2 was only second place for me... I enjoyed it.

Also, are MMOs not allowed to be GotY or something? I'm surprised nobody else thinks TOR has potential to be the best game this year, I can't think of another game I'm anticipating more personally.

I would suggest GW2 really, but since Alpha testing and beta testing'll start sometime at the end of this year I'll say it's going to be GOTY 2012.

On topic,The only game I've bought that was released this year was DA2 , but I'm looking forward for WH40K: space marine and Skyrim.
