Dialogue wheel glitch?

So i haven't played Dragon Age 2 for a while now, so i started to play this again to get the missing achievements and preparing for the upcoming DLC. All patches was intalled (1.02) and ready to start a new game, but now the dialogue wheel somtimes flips out. It's really hard to explain, but when you have the 3 options on the wheel to the right, and then the investigate option to the left, sometimes when using the joystick to go to the right, it will instead go to the left, and sometimes just disappear altogether, making me press the joystick to the left or right several times to even get the highlighter back.

I can't remember having this problem before the patch(es). I also recently bought a new xbox 360 controller from Razer (Razer Onza TE), but this shouldn't be a problem, should it? I don't have any other problems in the game with the controller, and not in other games either, it's only present in the Dragon Age 2 dialogue wheel for some reason.

If any other person out here have the same problem then please let me know. Any help and comment is much appreciated.

I've never seen that happen before, pre or post patch. Weird!

How old is your xbox? The reason I ask is that we have an old one and a new one. I let my husband play on the new one, because all of my DLC, saved games, etc. are on the old one, and I'm too lazy to copy them to a memory stick. Aaaanyway, sometimes weird, glitchy stuff like that happens to me on occasion after I've been playing for several hours. If I restart, everything goes back to normal.

Do you have another working controller that you could play with to see if the problem persists? You can rule out the new controller once you know for sure the problem is occurring even with a different one, at least, and troubleshoot more from there.

My xbox is not even a yeard old. It's a Slim model. The expensive one with piano finish and 250Gb Hard-drive. It just happend right from the start of a new game (new save files), and has been flipping out occasionally ever since (i'm about 3 hours in). In order to test if it's my controller i think i need to purchase a new one, or maybe rent one, so i can't test this today. But it shouldn't be the controller. I mean it works perfectly on everything else, except the dialogue wheel in Dragon Age 2 , which makes no sense to me.

I will try the support line for Razer and see if this has been addressed there too, but i really doubt it.

Well, I'm certainly no expert, so if you can avoid buying a new controller to rule that out, it would be optimal (my advice doesn't come with a money-back guarantee). :-)

We have that same 250GB slim model upstairs (same as yours), and my husband hasn't had any controller issues like that, but he hasn't been playing DA2, either. Our controllers are the black Microsoft ones.

I don't know what to do about this. It's not game-breaking or anything, it's just annoying. Picking the wrong option because of this is no fun. You've been great help so far. I just wish a developer here could shed a light on this. They probably have a lot of different xbox controllers laying around their dungeon, right? Image IPB

As for now, i will contact Razer. If i can't get any help there i will then try to rent a microsoft controller. And if that's not possible i will just live with the annoyence i guess. I just need to be extra careful and take it more slow.

So i contacted Razer over the weekend and they have not seen a similar question sent to them before. They also said that the controller is perfectly compatible with any game or game-mechanic, so the problem is either in the system or the game. It could also be a faulty controller and that i should contact my retailer to get a new one if that was possible, but after some research and tampering with the controller i came to a conclusion that it should not be it.

So right now i will see if i can borrow another controller just to 100% verify this, and if that doesn't help / not possible, i will check with another system, but that won't be easy i think.

I have had a similar experience before, but only once, and it was pre-patch. ITs not the controller,as I tried both of mine. (mine is a 2009 xbox, so the model has nothing to do with it.)

Well, sounds like you can rule out the controller, then.

Honestly, I've noticed lots of really strange stuff since the last patch (textures, lock-ups, etc.), so you might have to just chalk it up to that. It would be nice if someone would acknowledge the issue, though. :?

actually i've had a similar thing happen with trying to choose the investigate option, only to have it go towards the right and get the humor option (and causing me to rage). Basically, I'll sort of flick it to the left, and press A really quickly, but when it flicks back to the neutral position it'll slide VERY slightly to the right. to where it changes, i'm thinking the dialogue wheel is just overly sensitive in this game (or i need a new controller lol).

Don't get me wrong, it doesn't happen THAT often (out of my three playthroughs, probably 4 times) but it has happened. But yeah, don't know why it would flip out like that
