I finally got my rogue toon into the Fade in Circle Tower and I HATE this part....how the heck does a rogue take down mages?

I'm not positive of all the stats of my toon but I think it resembles

Lv. 9 or 10
Str: 20
Dex: 34
Cun: 25

I have equipped

honnleath helm
angle striker gloves
Lv. 4 leather armor
thorn of the dead gods/cheese knife w/runes

Improved poison... I'm gonna lob grenades and I made a lot of poisons...about 90 health potions

Yes....overly prepared or am I screwed?

The mages are a bit tricky but not impossible. The best way to take them down is to get within their line of sight as the Burning Man and then quickly dash out of sight, they run towards you, you shoot a fireball at where they're going to be, and most tend to die in one hit. If not, go carve them up.

In places that don't have firewalls set up, just stay in stealth mode and lob poison to lure them (if you lob items while stealthed, you can remain stealthed with the second tier talent and the enemy will run to wherever you lobbed the item from) if they are in the way of something you want/need.

Or save the mage areas for when you have the golem form, then chuck rocks at them.

Hmm... I usually get the golem form last....but I suppose I could get it first....or do I need the burning man to get the golem's form?

Does chucking firebombs/poisoning weapons help at all?

If your rogue is good at stealth it's VERY helpful. You can just continuously chuck grenades at the mages.

And it depends on the poison you use. For some reason or another using concentrated deathroot extract always seemed to be fun for my rogue (chance to stun added onto more chances to stun from runes, added onto high backstab damage = evil).

yeah I've never used poisons until now....or made use of herbalism..I brought up my health potions from about 50 to 90 just by using Morrigan to make them :)

I've become a fan of deathroot and acid flasks....oh and the fire grenandes

I'm using thorn of the dead gods and olav's knife...so that's good?

I only have 1 stealth talent...so I'm in trouble right?

When facing mages, I usually stick with the spirit form for the high magic resistance, along with regeneration and crushing prison.

If you can get the drop on them, try starting off with the burning man form for fireball, then switch to spirit form.

Also, try to lure mages away if you see them in a group. Even if you do everything right with your character, it still can be deadly to face a group of them at once. At least they don't have much health, and one fireball is usually enough to take out a group of them.

If you need to, switch back to your rogue to use health poultices.

Ooooo that's a good idea! I notice fireball is a touchy spell.....the spirit form eh? Hmmm...I should probably fight in forms more often

Spirit form is quite powerful, and if you're surrounded the Golem has greater defense. I'm starting out as a rogue now so I imagine the tower won't be so easy (I was a mage).

The different forms help level the playing field since you don't have your companions with you.

The mouse form is good for stealth. Burning man form does good melee, along with fireball. Spirit form has nice crowd control with crushing prison and regeneration give the form survivability. The golem form probably gets the least use from me with it's horrible melee accuracy, but it's needed to break down some doors.

Sometimes I'll start a battle in spirit form and fire off a crushing prison, then go burning man form and finish off the enemy with melee weapons.

The fade isn't so bad as a rogue, you'll just need to use the forms more, where a mage could stay in mage form unless needed to switch. You could try using stealth with your rogue, but I prefer killing everything.

The fade is easy with any character, since the game gives you all the weapons (the forms) to complete it. Note that most of the mages you meet are busy fighting each other, and most of them use fire spells (which the burning man is immune to) and have low HP (which means a single Fireball or Crushing Prison can kill them). While stealthed in Mouse form you can just watch them kill each other. The Golem form can kill mages easy, but he is weak against magical attacks himself.
Spirit Form also has Regenerate, iirc, so you have healing covered.

Really, just try to use your forms better.
