Does anyone know how to slow down the naviation speed when using the WASD keys, NumKeypad, or even the mousewheel to navigate?

I'm finding it extremely difficult to "slightly" move the camera closer to my characters for a nice close up, instead the movement takes a couple of virtual "steps" forward rather than a fine tuned "slide".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I personally never use the WASD keys to navigate the user window, as I've wound them to be clunky in their accuracy/speed.

For preview viewport (not camera but rather the "stage") purposes I use the mousewheel moving it forward and back until I get the desired distance from the characters (for precision animation coordination) since with every mousewheel increment forward and back, the distance slightly differs.
Also, Alt+middle click allows you to rotate around a point and middle click moves the entre area when navigating.

As far as moving the cameras themselves I rely entirely on manually moving the camera navigation arrows to the exact point I would like my cameras to be placed, by toggling the 3D axis movement/rotation switches on the menu bar and adjusting them accordingly with the mouse itself in the user window, while previewing the actual shot in the camera preview viewport.

Middle wheel clicking directly in a camera preview window allows for you to rotate the camera for fine tuning  shot rotationwise.

Nevertheless, if you prefer to use the auto keys there are settings you can make by going to Tools>Options>Cutscene Editor>Camera and manually edit zoom speeds in the appropriate fields.

Ah but of course, the 3d axis :) I was looking for an option to slow down the movement of the WASD keys. Unfortunately the Cuscene Editor>Camera zoom speed settings are not properly taking affect for me. Can you suggest a value that I can use that will make the zooming smoother?

And just to verify that we're on the right page here, the "zoom" you are referring to is the mousewheel up / down motions on the mouse?

Since I feel most comfortable with having full control over where my cameras are placed using the axis manual movement, I can't really tell you much about the WASD keys, as I assume these might have been meant to be used for more rough movements rather than fine tuning. Perhaps others have more experience with the WASD and can help you out.

After a bit of tinkering I found that those settings under "options" actually affect the mousewheel zoom performance. When changing max distance for example, the mouse zoom will act accordingly. When scaling is enabled it changes behavior as well, but I really can't say much more as far as my own experience is concerned.

As far as your question, when I say mousewheel zoom, I mean when you move the mousewheel in its up/down increments it causes your view to "dolly" forward and back regardless if you are doing it with a camera viewport (which moves the actual camera) or the user viewport (which adjusts the "virtual camera" for when you are viewing the entire staging setup.

I haven't found a way to refine the wheel or arrows. I just get as close as I can and then manually change the cameras numbers a bit at a time in the object inspector.

Interesting, I'll have to fiddle with those settings then, thanks guys :)
