I have been thinking about what will happen in mass effect 3 and came up with some ideas of what i think will happen.
1. They mentioned how your decisions will determine the fates of entire planets and you will have to sometimes choose between which ones to save. I think this is how the loyalty system will work in ME3. I think situations will rise where for example illium is being attacked and some other human colony is being attacked. You can only go to one and save that planet. Miranda's sister is on Illium and Asheley's sister is on some human colony. depending on your choice you will either earn or lose the loyalty of one of you squad members.
2. At first I had heard that if you had a romance in each of the games that there would bea love triangle like in mass effect 1. But now im hearing that one of them will meet an unfortunant ending (wonder what that could be). My guess is that you will have a situiation like on virmire in mass effect 1 where both are under attack and you can only save one and your choice will show your true love and feelings for them.
3.I think that there will be loads of dlc for the game that is later released. This is possibly the greatest game ever created and they are going to send it out with a continuous bang. The galaxy is under atttack every where so that means that there is no shortage of pepole needing help(dlc missions). That also means there will be no shortage of people willing to help shepard(dlc squad members). And since the fate of the entire galaxy is in jeopardy everybody is going to be releasing their top secret and most powerfull weapons( dlc weapons).

-Although it hasnt been anounced yet i was told by an employee at gamestop that there will be pre order bonuses( pre ordered mine the first available day.collectors edition!! yeah baby)
-Also go to mass effect 3 website and go to bottom of page because there is a link to the top ten things players should know before playing mass effect 3. Appearently there is a crap load of info including characters and events from the comics and the books of mass effect.
-also the illusive man is indoctrinated after all and his real name is Jack Harper(real intimidating)

Questions
-does anyone know if mass effect 3 will belonger than mass effect 2? i would think so because the entire galaxy is under attack instead of just human colonists dissappearing.
- does anyone know what the side quests are going to be like. I doubt when there is galactic destruction that anyone will care about a missing locket.

THANKS!!!!!

1. seems quite logical and would no doubt be something they may do although i don't think it'll be a Miranda's sister/ash's sister thing but more of a if you save colony or planet A instead of the other then it makes it more difficult to say get the turians on board. (think similar to saving the ascension in me1)

2. While they did say the Li situation and how you handled it would have consequences the consequences you suggest are very severe and not practical to implement, firstly they would have to create numerous scenarios to fit each LI, secondly not everyone romances a character and lastly people living or dying shouldn't have anything to do with romance.

Personally i see it being done more in line with Dragon age 2 where choices you make could force characters to leave, so if for example you romanced Ash, cheated on her with Miranda and didn't have enough persuasion points (like the jack/miranda, tali/legion conflicts) when you choose one you lose loyalty of the other and by definition that character.

3. dlc =$ so there will probably be a lot, but i don't think as much of it would actually influence the events or outcome, rather just add flavour and not be integral to the story in any way, it could be weapon packs, missions that are just longer side missions and some characters.

A lot of people need to read that 10 things you need to know thread, it adds so much backstory and potential plot points that could be important.

As for your questions well i hope its longer it should be simply because as you put it its the endgame, this is what we've been building up to. The side missions are tricky but i think they'll be mix of the best from me1 and me2 (character missions to finish character arc, species missions to gain loyalty of species etc.)

Hope this helps and welcome to the forums.

1. I heard somewhere that "ME1 was about how decisions change Shepard himself, in ME2 Shepard's decisions may change the fate of several people and in ME3 the future of entire races will be determined". So it's either "help to free Tuchanka from Reapers and gain Krogans' loyalty" or "continue studying the genophage to gain Krogans' loyalty or terminate it to gain Salarians loyalty". Personal affecting quests likely will stay in ME2.

2. it's called "kill off ME1 LI". Seriously, how many people "cheated" with thoughts to return to ME1 LI later? I understand some people's wish to do exactly so (kill VS with evil laughter in process), but calling this "repercussions from cheating"?
My little personal theory that it will be "ah, you moved on? Fine" from ME1 LI (end of relationships) and "ah, you s***w him/her before Ilos and then discarded that easily? What about me, will I also be instantly forgotten for some new dude/girl on horizon?" (persuasion check, end of relationships if failed. If succeed, Shepard tells how he felt betrayed/hurt after Horizon, how new LI opened his eyes on relationships and all in "I don't want anyone else. I want you" style)

3. agreed about loads of DLC, not thought about how they will be integrated in plot for now.

About TIM - motivators about "Jack found out that TIM's real name is Jack Harper" worth checking :)

Answers (sorta):
- no information yet, but the more the merrier as always
- apparently there'll be more main plot-related quests (check screenshots of galactic map, there's many "conflict zones". Very strongly hope for no more missing hats/lockets/pants... likely there'll be missing people instead or prototypre weapons someone hasn't time to evacuate

Whatever this game ends up being like it will still be my favorite game of all time
