Updated my first post, I did some googling for both.

Hope it helps.

My standard cookie cutter build would be (in order of leveling):

10 Tech Armor (Assault)
10 Passive (Raider)
10 Warp (Heavy) Note: must put 3 points into Throw to unlock Warp
10 Throw (Field or Heavy, take your pick)
10 Overload (Area)
1 Stasis

Alternatively, once you have all tech upgrades, you only need 3 points in Overload to completely strip shields for any given target or tightly clustered group of targets, so you can put some points in Cryo Blast or your bonus power if you like.

I pick Stasis because it's a good 1-point wonder. Alternatives are Energy Drain (which can completely replace Overload), Neural Shock, or Slam (both on short cool down, both insta-kill husks, and both are useful with only 1 point). Neural Shock can completely replace Cryo Blast as well, so it's usually my pick when I want to avoid using Stasis.

Which skill do you think is the best: Overload or Energy Drain? I have no clue how energy drain works yet. Keep in mind that i am playing on Hardcore, so most of the enemies have shields. I was thinking about some of these 4 builds:

10 Tech Armor
10 Defender
10 Warp
  3 Throw
10 Overload
  1 Cryo Blast
10 Energy Drain (could be something else, since i already have overload maxed out)
_______________________________________________________________________

10 Tech Armor
10 Defender
10 Warp
10 Throw
  1 Overload
  0 Cryo Blast
10 Energy Drain
________________________________________________________________________

10 Tech Armor
10 Defender
  0 Warp
10 Throw
10 Overload (Or maybe 3 Overload with the advanced skill on 6)
10 Cryo Blast
1 Advanced Skill (Or maybe 3 Overload with the advanced skill on 6). (Could be Stasis on 1 or Something else on 6)

(This one would be for fun factor, but i think it would be suicide on Hardcore/Insanity)

________________________________________________________________________

10 Tech Armor
10 Defender
10 Warp
10 Throw
10 Overload (Or maybe 1 Overload with the advanced skill on 10)
  0 Cryo Blast
1 Advanced Skill (Or maybe 1 Overload with the advanced skill on 10). (Could be Stasis on 1 or Energy Drain on 10 like kstarler said)

Thoughts on the advanced skills / builds / overload vs energy drain please.

Overload and Energy Drain are redundant. You want one or the other, not both. How are you planning on playing? Is your style from cover or more aggressive?

I like being agressive but sometimes on hardcore i can't be too aggressive

I would also like to know what do you guys think about the Extra Weapon Training. I don't feel like playing with a sniper as a Sentinel so i am between the AR and the SR.

The problem with the 1 point avanced skill bonus is because the most usefull one point skill on advanced is Stasis that i can only get after the game is beaten in the LotSB. I know i can do it earlier but people say it makes more sense after the "suicide mission" or something like that.

LotSB also has a steady stream of credits and the ability to respec your teammates.  You miss out on that if you play the whole game, then do the dlc.  I don't think it hurts the story at all to go there as early as possible.

If you don't want a sniper rifle, I'd take the shotgun if you like close-combat, otherwise AR especially if you have the Mattock.

I'd do it sooner as well... if you had a romance with Liara, you can 'rekindle' it after the SM, don't need to do it when you complete the LotSB.

Shotgun is always good because of Assault Armor. You don't really need the Shield piercing of the Scimitar since you already have SMGs (Tempest) and can stay out of cover the longest among all the classes. You need killing power, so take the Evicerator or the GPS.

Assault Rifle can do no wrong either. Especially with the Mattock which can double as a Shotgun. I would advice anything that does contiuous DPS (Mattock, Avenger, GPS, Collector Assault Rifle) over the Vindicator, since you won't be using cover much.

I didn't romance anyone in the first one cause i didnt like Ashley and i am dumb and played it in parts so when i came back i didnt talk to Liara at all in the game, because i totally forgot about where she was on normandy, and since i had already talked everything with the medic i never entered there. Sucks, but i liked Miranda more anyway. And i will do LotSB just after Horizon, because thats when it will trigger the quest.

An alternative to Stasis is Neural Shock. The only draw backs are that it only works on Organics, and it only works when their protections are gone. Slam makes a good single point power, though mostly for setting up instant Warp bombs with squad mates. For instance, as long as Miranda or Thane are out of your line of sight, their abilities are instant, so you can hit Slam then immediately hit Warp on a squad mate and trigger a Warp bomb.

You can take ED and level it, it's just going to make any points spent in Overload redundant. Alternatively, you can take any bonus power, even those that are only effective at higher levels, and rely on a squad mate (Miranda/Garrus) for Overload.

It's a solid bonus power. I'd evolve it to Improved Flashbang.

And it's great against Harbinger, since it cannot attack for a good while, when hit with the grenade.

Just thought i'd throw this build in as it hasn't been mentioned -

Tech Armour 10 (power variant)
Passive 10 (raider)
Warp 10 (heavy)
Throw 10 (heavy)
Overload 1 (for blowing up pyros)
Warp Ammo 10 (heavy)
Bonus weapon - mattock

This is a caster build - warp bomb specialist that relies on having squadmates with pull. Jack/Samra are great here because of power cooldowns meaning a pull is available whenever needed.

Here's the one I used. I was almost unbeatable, and this build was used the first time I ever survived Arrival's Fight For Your Life.

Throw 3
Unstable Warp 10
Assault Armour 10
Area Overload 10
Cryo Blast 1
Raider 10
Dominate 6

Bonus Weapon: Geth Plasma Shotgun

The bonus can probably be changed or not used at all, as I was experimenting at the time I made this build. But it saved my life on many occassions.

Edit: I checked back, and I actually had Area Overload. My bad. But you can route points from Dominate to Throw if you want a harder throw. I feel it's unnecessary since I usually use throw to quickly knock an opponent off his/her feet and get a quick recharge.
