I don't know. I don't mind the option if it's added, but if it is I doubt my Shepard will marry his L.I. Mostly because, roleplaying in mind, I don't see my Shepard really thinking about marriage when he has a galaxy to save. Love? Sure. Marriage? I don't think there'll be a good time between Reaper attacks to hold a wending and get a cake. Just sayin'.

But I fully support the addition for those who want it.

I care about many more things in ME3's plot & options than asking for marriage........

I wouldn't mind being able to marry my LI, I don't see many of the LI actually wanting to get married. Simply based on their character, but it would be interesting :-). It certainly should be added for those that want to, but as an option. Because there are certainly people out there who wouldn't want to.

I think it would be kind of awesome if you could marry some of the L.I.s but no others, based on their personalities. It would be all kinds of cool if you could marry one character but not another and think: "yeah, I don't see such and such believing in marriage..."

Maybe that's just me though.

I would prefer ambiguity when it comes to after the relationship.

Hinted-at-happy-endings for those who want it.
Break-ups for those who want it too.

This. No need to ruin the ending with something akin to a big Jawa party for those who don't want it.

It's possible the marriage ability will be unlocked after the main story is over. That way it doesn't seem like this odd thing that Shep would take time out from saving the galaxy to get married. However I could see the appeal of an independance day style wedding which would be pretty cool aswell.

I would love to see Shepard and her/his LI tie the knot after the final battle with the Reapers.

im all for letting people role play to their hearts content, but...

fate of the galaxy>marriage.
better tell harbinger to hold off on total destruction of the galaxy, at least until the wedding photos are taken.  better yet, he can be the flower girl. :P

Ghost Nihlus: Saren, I think maybe we should discuss that situation where you shot me in the back of the head.
Ghost Saren: I was... indoctrinated?
Ghost Anderson: He's lying, that was all him. Admit it, Saren; you've always been kind of an ass.
Ghost Saren: This has nothing to do with you, human.
Ghost Anderson: Sure, bring up the human thing. We're both dead and you still can't let it go.
Ghost Saren: You want to go there, little man?
Ghost Anderson: I think I just did.
Ghost Saren: Bring. It. On.
Ghost Nihlus: Uh, excuse me? I have some serious unresolved feelings of betrayal here-
Ghost Saren: Cry more, Nihlus. You always were a disappointment.
Ghost Nihlus: Seriously? You know what? Have fun spending eternity with each other. ::dissipates::
Ghost Saren: ::looks at Anderson, rolls his eyes, then dissipates::
Ghost Anderson: Finally, some peace and quiet.

Shepard: ::watches:: ... ::blinks and rubs eyes:: ... That's it, no more licking Thane for kicks.

Why would Shepard want to ruin their life by getting married, I would rather die fighting the Reapers lol.

But then they'd have to make up sets of alien customs for bonding. And then they'll raise headlines for including S/S weddings. Either that, or they don't and the fans complain.

I don't see this ending well.

That's not a bad thing. There's no such thing as bad publicity. I bet the free publicity Faux...excuse me, Fox News gave to the original Mass Effect over the in-game sex scene actually helped sell more copies of the game.

I'm indifferent on the this.

On one hand, I think there should be some tangible reward if the option is available, such as stat/item boosts, or lotsa exp. Most MMO's that allow marriage have those. But ME games aren't really built around those same ideas...

Wasn't it confirmed there are no new love interests or something?

Oh well, I haven't been paying that much attention. Honestly, while it would be nice if it was an option, it's not essential and some love interests it probably shouldn't be an option unless you want Shepard to get shot down... Does Jack or Miranda seem like the marrying type? What about Thane? Is he going to die in the middle of your honeymoon?

Yeah, some of the relationships wouldn't be the sort to go that way, but some would: Tali - MShep, Garrus - FShep, Ashley - MShep, Kaiden - FShep, and Liara - AnyShep seem the most likely to have that as an option. In Tali's case it might actually be less of an event then the ME2 Romance. She's willing to risk death just for one romantic encounter with Shepard, yeah... Marriage is a real big leap then. *sarcasm*

Though considering that she's still a 'locked in' LI even if you tell her its too dangerous in ME2... she might be the only option for someone to have a romance and wait till marriage. That's actually kind of funny.

It's not like it would have to be an all-out marriage. Do I think Isabela would have married my lady hawke? No. But I sure as hell see them riding off together to pirate. If this game actually brings closure to the Reaper threat who's to say that some of the LIs wouldn't settle down with Shep. Although they may not officially marry Shep that doesn't mean they would leave Shep's side. Especially if they survive the Reapers.

Personally, I would like to avoid the option. My Shepard and their LIs will mostly continue to do badass things in the galaxy for a while, and what goes on in their cabins is nobody's business.

But for those who like it - there's a big precedence for such a thing in one of the biggest space operas in written SF: the Lensman series. So if it's an option, why not go all the way and give the event a comparable level of pomp

The Independence Day wedding was quite frankly, one of the most epic scenes in the film. He knows he might die in the next few hours, but he still rustles up a dress uniform and marries the girl right there and then. Hey, it'd be a cool option BW. Not mandatory, but still, VERY cool.

This is a kinda meh tooic for me, i dont mind if it happens as long as its done well but at the same time i won't start trolling a sh!t storm on the fourms if it doesn't. Besides with the whole reaper invasion thing going on it woukd have to be a independance day style wedding, unless it was after the whole thing and the majority of the galaxy had survived then i guess it could be more of a classic 'white' wedding.

Some people don't want marriage, some people don't want kids. Adding any of these would remove player interpretation for their Shepard, which could simply be avoided by allowing the ending to be vague so players can imagine what happened after.

That would be gr8, however it won't work since most of the ME2 crew will only make a guest appearance and it might not be enough 2 keep developing a working relationship. Besides there's still a chance that the one character u do want 2 marry might not even be in ME3. Or am I missing something?

I don't see why your love interest wouldn't be a squad mate...Devs did say your two romances would be fighting over you.

Yes, but what if u have no further access 2 ur love interest therefore u can't finish the romance. Plus we have 2 remember that some romanced Kaidan/Ash in ME1 and after romanced some1 else in ME2, how will that work out if both the ME1 love interest and ME2 love interest are still unterested in Shepard? As 4 the ones that romanced Thane in ME2 like myself. What if he dies? Do we start over with some1 else or go back 2 our ME1 lover? Whatever it'll be like, its gunna be exciting, soooo many possibilities...
