I am thinking something in line with what they did in pirates of the caribbean at world's end where they were fighting pirates and at the same time getting married. Its a do or die situation and where every person is not sure to come back. So they have to do it before it all ends.

Just like Meryl and Johnny at the end of MGS4, they propose whilst in a shootout against the FROGs, i think something like that would be awesome.

i could see the voice of shepard (male or female) narrating the aftermath of the war against the reapers, explaining what happened to each of the companions,friends and LI while cutscenes of said events are played
out (like the debriefing in mgs3 by eva in terms of presentation)

That's what I was thinking. Shouldn't be too difficult to avoid it.

With your chosen LI is fine with me however it should be kept as a side note which doesn't become the main focus of the story from that point on ... .

Yeah, I agree with that too. I wouldent want to not have time to continue to support and help the galaxy because Im supposed to be home by Dinner for Ash. :/

And you suspect they'll add this in ME3? After, you know, the "marriage / babies" line that was forced down one of my Shepard's throat in LOTSB? Ignore any mention of marriage / children and guess what? Imagine in your head canon they married and had children! Instead of adding content that forces stuff on Shepards who don't care about it. At all.

Dave of canada needs to grow up. The marriage might be an option. That would be a nice reward. Even if it is mentioned at the end of game, I am sure that if you do not make such choice in the game it might not play out as marriage occured. I completely like the idea of my shepard marrying ashley. It would be nice change after killing all the reapers and their husks. And ocassional cerberus interloper that seems to be getting in my way.

I wouldn't mind seeing this as an option. I can see how people going into an almost certain death situation would want to pursue something like this. It didn't fit well with the suicide mission in ME2, because all of the long term LI's were off camera and the relationships established in ME2 were too new (proposal would have been very weird). In ME3, I think it would be a much better fit.
