You could, but that'd be silly because Terminator came out in 1984 and Robocop came out in 1987.
I never remember seeing Terminator before Robocop though, but still...doesn't change the facts.

Rachni ripped off Zergs who in turn ripped off Tyranids who in turn ripped off Arachnids, see a pattern here?
Agreed, although technically the Tyranids ripped off Arachnids and Geiger's Aliens with a bit of Cthulhu Mythos thrown in for good measure. I love playing the Games Workshop "influences" game, so much fun.
I see no problem with the Geth or Reaper machine looking similar to things from Halo or anything else. The Geth armatures were kind of purple-blue in ME1 anyway, so it's not like this is a completely new thing they've just shoved into ME3.

You're forgetting the Formics from the Ender novels. Really, the Rachni owe much more to them and the original Starship Troopers novel than anything else.

If so, Georges Méliès* is welcome to send me a bitter email.

I guess you would consider these all to be orginal as well.

Then again, the Reapers have been done before too. Same thing with biotics, FTL jumps, a certain part of the galaxy that's populated by criminals, outlaws and terrorists, the society of aliens, the list goes on.
Exactly... so why are we jumping on this poor 'ol walking reaper?
While we're at it the elves in the Witcher 2 look a LOT like the elves in LOTR and the dragon looks just like the dragon you see in every other cliched fantasy film/game.... Oh NO... ruined FOREVER!

Exactly.
For example, Babylon 5 has Technomages, jump gates, a huge station for multiple species and a few other nicknacks here and there. But I prefer how the ME universe is setup and characters in the ME universe.

There's a difference between basic and broad concepts being done before that only effect the game from a narrative perspective, and an element with has been done to death in games and also directly impacts the gameplay and results in unimaginative bossfights and an attempt to be big and epic with them despite bringing absolutely nothing new to the table. The two bossfights in LotSB already by comparison seem more original and epic because they were fresh and different.
That thing just looks like something I've faced too many times in too many other games before without bringing anything new to the table. And BioWare were all, "Yeah! Look how big and badass and epic and badass this thing is! Look at the sense of awesome scale it projects!" And all I can do it watch it and think "fail!" at what they were apparently attempting. I enjoyed the other two demos quite a lot from E3, but the Spider Crab one was just lame.

That's just stupid. Scarabs in Halo aren't even close being similiar to Reapers.
That's like saying that Scarabs riped off Tripods from War of The Worlds.
I love this, because someone else insinuated that such a statement was the case.
In any case, I see the similarities now that they've been pointed out, but I think that it's far fetched. Scarabs can't fold up and go for a joy-ride in space, nor are they sentient. While the walker-machine thing is old, it doesn't really bother me at all. Star Wars V for example... along with WotW.

ALL FICTION STARTED WITH HALO 2, ALL THAT CAME AFTER IS DERIVATIVE OF IT AND IT ALONE
Don't forget everything that came before it too.
The OP is trying to hard.
Also, it's not a reaper, it's Geth, they even say so in the interview...at least in the video I saw (I think it was machinima.com at E3, not sure, I've been watching a lot of interviews lately and the name of the interviewer-network/company isn't my biggest concern).
edit:
BTW: Halo ripped off Half-Life what with their headcrabs and Zombies and all that jazz, even those big dumb things with dreadlocks look exactly like Half Life's Gargantuas only smaller. Then they ripped off Predator with the covenant elites, they are exactly alike. Then they ripped off Aliens with their Marines, they have the exact same armor as in the movies. They also ripped off Lord of the Rings with that huge ass ring they've got going on floating in space, it's an almost exact copy of the one ring. Oh I almost forgot, they totally ripped of Star Wars talking aliens with weird voices.
Actually it was a reaper. Shepard says in the video, and I quote, "Shepard to Fleet! It's not a reaper base. It's a reaper!"
