Only thing similar is the tripod legs, even those look different. And going by the angle shots and close ups in the pictures which where specifically chosen to compare. But when the full shots are shown, they hardly look similar at all, one resembles a dog or lepard, the other more like a praying mantis and or dragon.marshalleck wrote...
Wow, the Bioware Defense Force really mobilized on this thread to change the topic from a valid observation that the scarab-reapers clearly look like Halo-scarabs, to random bull**** about tropes and extreme generalizations about sci-fi themes.
Well done, fanboys.

Well, when the OP is complaining about something being ripped off from Halo 2 when the basic idea is really 113 years old, there's a lot of fun to be had in exageration and mocking. We have to get our entertainment somewhere, yknow.marshalleck wrote...

I was kidding. Of course nothing is absolutely original.Nelatherion wrote...
No. No it doesn't. By that logic, nothing is original. Since everything in one form or the other has been done before.
Everything. No matter what book, film, play, novella, radio script you say from the last 100 years, they are all Unoriginal. All.

Right... but they did mention them which then makes Chris Priestly's post all the more correct. Seriously Marsh, you gonna stick up for such a clueless brainfart as the OP? *shakes head in disbelief*

Well, if I remember my Halo lore correctly, Scarabs are ironically enough also made with certain organic components. The same stuff as those big Covie thingies that always come in duos, I believe.
Edit: Hunters, I think they were called.
