The reaper on the trailer is the EXACT same... it's not a tri-pod, it's not blue, it's not shooting rockets... It is a purple four legged thing crawling through a street with a head-laser, its an imported Scarab

You need to get your eyes checked.

And if you think it's purple...you're freakin' color blind, FYI.

Go play Halo 2, drive through the tunnel on the Warthog (which was probably copied -_- ) and pop up onto the street. Get in the tank (which is also probably copied)... and get blown up... run across the rooftops and look down. At that moment the Scarab there (which you have to board and blow up) is the same as the Geth.. thing. It doesn't have tentacle legs like wotw, it's got four mechanical legs, a cannon in its face, and a cannon on its back. I'm just quizzing why the exact same? Why not made it black? Everything looks cooler in black

Let's say it IS copied from Halo.

All that means is that Bioware did it better. Because Halo is garbage.

If it makes Mass Effect look bad, Marsh is automatically for it. Rule of thumb.

At least you're honest about your motivation for denying the obvious.

Oh, come off it. Denying what? That the scarab design happens to look like some thing in Halo 2?

If you try hard enough in just about anything, you can find something similar in an early work. Living spaceships? Farscape. The Geth? Battlestar Galactica. A colony being attacked by a hostile an ancient alien force? Aliens. Hell, there was even a full article about concepts and ideas they borrowed from Spirits Within.

So there'something in Halo 2 that looks kind of like that Reaper scarab thing. So? So what? What the hell does it matter?

Every alien invasion work of art is derivative of H. G. Wells War of the Worlds 1898 debut.

Deal.

To be honest the Scarab and Reaper looks similar but their are many differences though in the aesthetics, color, size, shape and weapon. The main similarity is that they have four legs and seem to have a similar job to the Scarab.

Halo set the standard for shooter controls on a console... setting the standard for the entire industry of gamepad shooters that followed.

It's the other way around. The scarab-Reaper in ME3 looks like scarab in Halo 2. As for what it matters, you tell me? I'm not one of many people getting all offended and defensive about the observation. Although it is typical of the fanboy mentality to respond with force to any perceived slight of the object of worship.

Because it amuses me to call fanboys on their bull****. The thread isn't about scarab-Reaper's function, Reaper origin, thematic derivation in works of science fiction, etc. etc. It's very specifically about the striking similarity in physical profile between scarab-Reapers and scarabs. A point which the fanboys continually attempt to bury in non-sequitur and strawman arguments, as if the OP was even here to pose an argument in the first place.

Their profile is not that similar... the Reaper design is much more vertical than the Halo scarab.

Which would be a perfectly suitable response to the OP. Instead, fanboys start talking about how scarabs aren't the liquified essence of organic beings, and other such unrelated trivia.

I don't know if there is a real similarity so to speak as robotic creatures like these have been in various movies and games. I honestly don't think it was an intentional rip-off of the Halo 2 scarab. I did however, find at the end of that video something that is similar to Halo in a hand held weapon, the Energy Sword, that Shep uses in melee attacks in the video, now that looks similar. The size isn't the same, but the structure shape is eerily similar.

Probably an accurate description, though I'd take issue with the nosey part. :wizard:

But every shooter game should be played witha mouse not with a gamepad, so there.

The only fps I consider changing the view on shooter games is Half-Life.

For multiplayer yes, for singleplayer... not so much.

Now are we speaking RTS yes mouse+keyboard.

Both FPS and RTS = M&K

Roleplaying games like mass effect and adventure-games like fable works great with controller

Argh stop comparing Halo to being the first original shooter/story
whatever, its screwing with my old gaming age. Yeah you like it, its the
most awesome game ever, we get it.  But in all honest it gave nothing
new to the shooter universe except it being a (first?) fps on a console with
rainbow colors and a standar sci-fic story about humans vs aliens.

"Only" (saying that lightly) thing Halo manage to accomplish was to get a
gain a huge amount of popularity (alot of it due to their massive PR campaign, and it worked), and with it alot of goodies for any
gamer to enjoy. Unfortunately it also came with "this" halo fanboyism who seem to
think Halo is the father and mother of all other gaming creation. =(

/rant off got a wee bit of topic, sorry!.

*I liked Halo before it went console* :D
