Hey, everyone. it's been ages since I've started a thread in this forum, but I wanted to get an idea of what your favourite items are in Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening and Dragon Age II, including all DLC, pre-order bonuses and exclusive content. Yeah, out of all the officially created items in the Dragon Age franchise:

a) which do you like best
B) where is it found / which game
c) why the heck do you like it so much?

I am interested to hear your answers. Thank you for responding to this very casual, very informal poll.

I'm probably biased to the Warden Commander Shield because I spent so much time getting it.

It's the random drop from the first "boss" in Warden's Keep (DA:O).

The design of the coat of arms I guess.

Armour of the Legion, scattered throughout The Dead Trenches, Orzammar main quest.

It looks good, and I love the lore of the Legion. Don't think I've ever had a playthrough where I've sold it.

Wade's Superior Drakescale Armor Set
and
Wade's Superior Dragonscale Armor Set

They're both found in Origins for turning in 3 Drake Scales or a Dragon Scale to Wade and Herrin.

I love these items because I love visiting Wade and Herrin. They are two side characters that I was unpleasantly surprised not to see return in Dragon Age II. They have fantastic chemistry and I just love Wade's excitement when you turn in the materials (in Awakening, as well!).

Wade and Herrin just remind me of a "opposites attract" kind of couple. Wade is the flamboyant, demanding, and hilarious one in the relationship whereas Herrin is more personable, easy-going, and conservative one. They make for a great team.

Plus, how can you not love Wade's mustache?

Wade's Superior Drake/Dragon Armour set - DA:O, crafted for my character (and I agree with Rawr that Wade ahd Herren were awesome merchants to deal with, which made the commissioning aspect *fun*) out of a trophy component (High Dragon scales). Why I like it: Specially crafted armour is a good RP element...and it makes sense a character would purchase his/her own armour rather than, say, try to squeeze into the Legion of the Dead Armour when it was fashioned for a dwarf, and you're a human.

Starfang - DA:O Soldier's Peak DLC. Like the armour above, specially commissioned from a component I found. Why I liked it: The blade has been forged and balanced for my character's hands, and I get to make it legendary rather than wielding a weapon that already has its own legend. Plus it looked pretty sweet :) I wish it had transferred to Awakening.

To a lesser degree but the same reasons - all the other craftable weapons/armour in Awakening. It was more annoying trying to get all the components though, and Vigilance's skin not working properly took the shine off.

Reflection - An amulet in DA:O. Received in the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest from a ghost from the PC's Origin. Why I like it: Despite the broken healing bonus, I *loved* this item purely because of how you get it in game -- through roleplaying. Because of that and the item description, my Cousland wore it all the time even though the bonus could have been trumped by just about any other amulet.

Adaia's Boots/Fang/(Cousland) Family Sword/Aeducan Shield/Other Origin-specific Items - DA:O, received in Origin (except Fang - received from CE's father after Unrest in the Alienage). Why I like them: Because of roleplay. My City Elf Rogue never went without her boots, even though they were Tier 1. Weapons my characters kept but for combat reasons didn't use. :/ I wish these weapons could have scaled with level, but eh. I kept them for character sentiment.

Warden's Oath - DA:O. Received from Duncan and Alistair after the Joining. Why I like it: For sentimental reasons...because of roleplaying.

Robe of the Notorious Pirate - DA2, found somewhere on the Wounded Coast IIRC. Liked it for my female mage in DA2. Because it looked better and less conspicuous than bloody mage robes. No other reason. Heck, I stayed with my Kirkwall starter armour for half the game to avoid robes, and shunned the Champion Armour too.

Yusaris - DA:O, found in Circle Tower. Why I like it: I dunno, it had a cool name, a neat description, and I had to fight a pretty nasty battle to get it. It was my Cousland's primary weapon until Starfang, so I have a soft spot for it.

The Rose's Thorn (dagger) / Shadow of the Empire (armour) / Felon's Coat (armour) / Other - I liked many DA:O/A items just for their descriptions. If they fit the ideas of my characters, they used the items.

Nothing else stands out. I picked the rest for stats, but wouldn't remember the names unless I looked them up. The items that stay with me are those that had nifty descriptions and became special due to roleplaying.

I like, much less remember, very very few DA2 items, even if they were given by characters (eg. Warden's Promise ring) because we simply know nothing about them. Not what they look like, what their histories are, just a vague 'made from material X' and 'list of stats identical to some other ring' and 'star rating'. They were ultimately forgettable for me and my characters ascribed no sentimental importance to them. The only item I held on to was Ser Wesley's Shield, for Aveline's sake.

@ Shadow; You listed just about everything except one sword from Soldier's Peak, "Asturian's Might" (from the Ancient History quest) and another from The Deep Roads, "Topsider's Honor" (from "An Admirable Topsider" quest found in Ortan Thaig). The Roses Thorn is my favorite dagger in the whole game and a must for Lele or Zev to have :-)

@ Stanley: Great idea for a thread :-)

What SoLD said, but I'll add Wedding ring. The description is heartbreaking. I've never sold it.

Thirding SolD and mousestalker cool things that mean something to your character are always nice.

I'll add one more item and that's the Cousland family sword. No matter what happens whenever I'm playing a human noble Howe dies by that sword! Looks wise I love Starfang, Vigilance and the Sentinel armor. Again they all have some personal meaning.

Starfang because it's a weapon whose legend is forged by the warden.
Vigilance because it was an epic journey to obtain it (And because Wade made it like a baus).
Fade Wall because it took forever to get.

And Pantaloons, just because pantaloons.

Folks have already listed some items that I agree with wholeheartedly. Off the top of my head though:

 - Vigilance - DA: Awakening - I liked that not only was Wade involved in the crafting, but that after running my Warden around for the materials, the end result was pretty remarkable.

 - The Rivani Fertility Talisman - DA2 - Act 2 - This may be pure silliness, but of the gifts given to companions in either DA:O or DA2, the exchange/cut scene after bestowing this one was memorable. Lots of snark, naughtiness and a bit of melancholy. I loved items that had a story, had some personal significance to the character, and initiated great conversation.

Have to add "Varathon's armor" While the stats weren't the best, it was made from iron bark and something special for my Dalish.

It is a plot item, I know, but I also love Alistair's rose/ LI's gifts overall. It was a nice touch.

Warden Commander Armor

Dragon Age: Origins - Off the corpse of Sophia Dryden.

This was my favorite armor visually. I liked that it was not feminized on female characters. I also loved the Warden emblem on its chest and overall sleek look. It seemed sturdy and sexy in a way few other armors ever did.

Knight Commander's Plate

Dragon Age: Orgins - Sold by Faryn at the Frostback Mountain pass.

Again, I like the design here. I prefer DAO's rendition of templar armor over DA2 since it is bulkier. The attached purple skirt looked great. I also liked that it looks virtually identical regardless of the wearer's gender. Seeing my Cousland warrior fighting in it with Bregan's helm on made her indistinguishable from any other templar.

Final Reason

Dragon Age: Origins - Sold by Bodahn Feddic if you have Collector's Edition items enabled.

This staff is powerful, but that is not why I favor it. Again, I like the design here. Other staffs share it, but this is the easiest to attain. The shape of two intertwining serpent-like dragons meeting at the staff's apex where an orb is held between them looked spiffy. Certainly it was prettier than the Staff of the Magister Lords which was far more generic in comparison.

Cute Nug

Dragon Age: Origins - Obtained from the "idle dwarf" in Dust Town.

One of the few gift items I liked. Unlike most gifts, I got to see this one around. Leliana was always standing by the little critter in camp, and that was neat. It would be cool if giving a party member an item put it on display somewhere near where they hung out. Plus nugs are cute as the "item" name so aptly states.

Lifedrinker

Dragon Age: Origins - Found in egg while exploring the moutains during the Sacred Ashes quest.

Good item for a blood mage. What made it stand out, however, was the codex entry it spawned. I enjoyed that little story. Something about arrogant jerks getting smacked down by a person they mocked before always brings a smile to my face. A shame he lost to the Archon, though.

Robe of the Notorious Pirate

Dragon Age II - Found on the corpse of Fell Orden during the Raiders on the Cliffs quest.

It doesn't look like a robe. Pants, boots, and a tunic? Yes, thank you. Too often mage outfits look like bathrobes. I want to see more of this. A few dresses would be nice too. It's always nice to see mage gear that breaks the norm.

I think that I have two favourites. unfortunatelly, I don't remember its names T_T

I love the black armor set that you can get from that disciple from awakening -the one that follows to the veil, on the quest involving justice and the baroness. I like it because it was a very well balanced design: it was reasonable and incredible good looking. A perfect example of coherency and beatiful design. DA2's armor sets were good looking, but incredibly flashy and exaggerated.

And the second one: the wooden rod of ice, one that you could buy in the magic shop of Denerim. To be honest, I remember that there were others with the ability "frozen", but that kind of details made the item unique, with exotic properties. I always like when mage's equipment has unnatural or not so common properties :D

DAO Wardens Peak DLC - Warden commander armour because I thought it was the classiest looking armour in the game and the only armour that was specific to grey wardens and Starfang because it was made especially for me.

I kept everything from the opening of the human noble games for sentimental reasons.

I've yet to start DA2, but from Origins and Awakening:

Armor of the Sentinel
Dragon Age: Awakenings - Found in the Blackmarsh.

I like the colour scheme and the heavy, gothic design of the armour. Great bonuses too! It's my #1 armor of choice for my Warriors. :)

Spellfury
Dragon Age: Awakenings - Bought from Octham the Grocer

Aside from being possibly the best Mage staff in all of DA1, it also has one of the most visually striking and aesthetically pleasing appearances. I've always been a fan of crystals in mage staves. :D

Starfang
Dragon Age: Origins - Forged by Mikhael Dryden if you have the Soldier's Peak DLC.

While it's not particularly stunning stat-wise, I very much like the appearance of Starfang, and I'm always a sucker for items that you have to craft from rare components via a quest.

Vigilance
Dragon Age: Awakenings - Crafted by Master Wade

Same deal as for Starfang. It's a shame that I couldn't craft Starfang as a dagger and dual-wield Vigilance and Starfang. (I like the sword/dagger combos the most on dual-wielders.)

The Lucky Stone
Dragon Age: Origins - Free DLC download

I really like the icon for this ring, and something about the background of the item just strikes a chord with me. It's a shame that by Awakenings, the ring is far too underpowered to continue wearing it.

Evon the Great's Mail is a nice piece, especially when combined with the rest of Wade's Superior Dragonscale armor. -bought from Herren

Venture has nice stats and it looks cool, especially when paired with Fleet Feet. -found in the crypt below Vigil's Keep in Awakening. Boots bought in the tavern in Amaranthine.

I also like many of the items mentioned by some of the previous posters, such as Spellfury (nice stats+looks cool), and the sentinel armor.

WARDEN COMMANDER ARMOR
Found in soldier´s peak DLC from Sophia Dryden´s body in DAO. It has some very nice qualities plus it just looks cool with the grey warden symbol and it has some color. Looks good on my sword/shield wielding warrior.

STARFANG
Also from soldier´s peak DLC in DAO. Its a very powerfull and usefull sword made from a rare material. A sword like the world has never seen. Perfect for my warden to fight his enemies and to forge a legend of his own.

THE SENTINEL ARMOR
Found in DAO: Awakening from the blackmarsh. Very nice qualities also. The black color and the helmet makes the warden look badass and intimidating even.

VIGILANCE
DAO: Awakening. Forged by master Wade from a very exotic material plus some other stuff. A stuff of legends that you can create for your own preferences. Useful in coming battles. If only Hawke could get this in DA2, its legend would just grow more and more.

Vigilance and Starfang were created for DA2, but not implemented. I'm sure there's a mod somewhere that allows them to be put back into the game, similar to the Blackblade armor in Awakening.

Armour of the Sentinel is one of my favourite armor designs in any game. I love the dark feel to the armor, along with the sinister backstory. I mean, the armor of the first Warden? Epic.

Starfang and Vigilance tie for my favourite weapon.

I liked the craftable items - Superior Dragonbone Plate and Vigilance especially. I enjoyed the idea of crafting legendary weapons and armor.

My favorite helm was Corruption because I thought the lore of the item was interesting, with the Warden continually hearing the voice of the Archdemon.

My favorite amulet is the Talisman of Saarebas, because of how you get it.

Also, items are much better with DA:O style descriptions.

The Keening Blade: is an awesome sword to use in game, and the item description is amazing.

Spellfury: See above, but read staff rather than sword.

Corruption: Great stats, even better buffs (75%spirit resist) and is pretty cool for RP'ing, with the Warden continuing to hear the Archdemon's voice.

From DA:2 I liked Glandivalis, it looked cool, you had to go through a lot to acquire it, and it had some great enchantments too.

The Alistair Voodoo Doll.
I liked it because the instant I saw it I thought "Morrigan." I was right.
