Vigilance: there just is something about this.. I like it better than the Starfang, how I had to defeat the queen of the blackmarsh and how I found the eldest dragonbone, how I was able to customize the weapon for my preferences.. Even the epilogue slide detailing the fate of Vigilance was a nice touch.

Warden Commander Armor: Well, it looked nice, it had nice stats, and for some reason it felt extremely great to put it on.

Legion of the Dead armor: I really liked the design of this armor for some reason, and well, finding the pieces scattered encouraged me to look trough every place in the deep roads in search for it.

The helm of the Red: Oh, come on, it just felt great having saved Redcliffe and getting an helm of a former hero as a reward, even though it wasn't the greatest piece of equipment, it had its use.

Evon the Great's Mail & superior Dragon scale armor: I don't know, crafting an armor and using it in conjunction with an armor of someone called Evon the Great, worked for me.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I just thought I'd ask you guys because... well, no reason. And certainly not for any hidden motive. ;)

Armor of the Juggernaught, from the elven ruins, because I spent ages getting that and on nightmare those revenants are HARD! Simply because I found it so hard to get, and it looks cool like a mdeieval knight :)

To copy&paste from another thread, most of my favourite items (not stat-wise) come from the origin stories, or are origin specific. The items I always use when I receive them are:

CE: Adaia's Boots, Fang, and Wedding Ring (if applicable (and it has no stats on it!))
DE: Keeper's Ring
Mage: Ring of Study
HN: Family Sword (Curse my compulsive RP, that sword's terrible!)
DN: Aeducan Family Shield (Luckily, my only DN so far has been S&S)
DC: I haven't gotten a DC past Ostagar yet.. I imagine I'd use the Aeducan Mace though.

Duncan's weapons, too. Always find a spot for them if I have the right build, otherwise they stay in my inventory.

Basically, anything with an interesting and personal story behind it. Something I can actually feel ownership for, not just a stat-stick. Special mention goes to Morrigan's Ring, a companion giving me a gift (for a change!) was a nice touch, I'd love to see that come back some time.

Dead Thaig Shanker from Shale DLC. What can I say, I love shanking mages!
Duncan's and Cailan's gear, bonus points for sentimental value.

I'm going to echo those who said the Wedding Ring and Warden Commander Armor.

I think the female City Elf origin is one of the most emotionally affecting (I would even say devastating) beginnings to a video game I have ever played. I've done the origin twice and both times my character kept the Wedding Ring in her inventory for the duration of the game. She takes it out sometimes at camp when all the other party members are asleep.

The Warden Commander Armor I like because I think it's a very attractive armor. Sophia Dryden is one of the more intriguing characters in Dragon Age: Origins, which makes wearing that armor more meaningful to me than armor picked up from some ordinary loot drop.

Oh, and Warden's Oath, again for RP reasons, but ever since I unlocked High Regard of House Dace I can't bring myself to equip it.. + constitution? Eh..

Saw  swords - Holding two of these bad boys is bloody epic, I just wish Duel Wield Warrior was in DA2 ;'(

I loved the Staff of Parthalan and was both glad to get the DLC and sad to give it up for a better weapon.

Generally though I love gear that I can make be an iconic part of my character's look. Suffering through some of the robes as a mage in DAO and even DA2 was painful (I liked the pirate guy's robes in DA2 though). The platemail is always the best looking gear though.

Ancient Elven Armor was cool, unique looking and it was nice having some good Medium armor in DAO. In my third playthrough I actually built Zevran around wearing it and being a semi-tank.

Origins:

All the origin-specific items, especially the City Elf wedding ring and Cousland Family Sword. Even if I don't have them equipped, I still carry them around. In Awakening I keep them equipped or put them in the storage chest in Vigil's Keep.

Warden-Commander Armor and all of Wade's armor. Nice rewards for clearing Warden's Keep or defeating the High Dragon. And Wade and Herren are always entertaining.

Warden's Oath and Reflection, for RP reasons. It's been a while since I looked at the toolset, but I think there was a plan for the PC to get a different item (a weapon, maybe?) if they answered "no" and Reflection if they answered "yes" to the Guardian's question. That would have been kind of neat.

Companion-specific equipment in both Origins and Awakening: Alistair's worry stone, Anders' Fox Pendant, Oghren's flask, Nate's ring from Delilah, etc. The descriptions added little bits of characterization which probably wouldn't have come up naturally in conversations with the companions.

Awakening:

Spellfury was an awesome staff, and Vigilance is the coolest-looking sword so far.

DA 2:

Robes of the Notorious Pirate look great and don't scream, "I'm a mage," unlike almost all the other mage robes in the game.

Corruption-you're just not going to find another item with 75% spirit resistance, and you're unable to enchant spirit or nature resistance.

Lifegiver-a really good item for helping with a constitution boost. I do wish you enchant accessories though. Possible for DA3?

many great answers already given regarding weapons and armor, I also keep items in inventory for sentimentality reasons as well (Cailan's armor, just couldn't sell it..)

I don't want to repeat so I will add that I greatly enjoyed the gifts, especially Feastday Gifts that were usable (they added to the feeling of connection with party members and another reason why DA:O is epic).
items like:
Wynne's ammulet
Leiliana's Lute
also much love for - Ander's Ser Pounce a Lot

Oh and The blood dragon armor - loved putting Oghren in it!

Helm of Honnleath -- it boosts all my PC's attributes, and looks less stupid than the mage hats she'd been wearing previously.

From Origins, my absolute favourite item was Fang, the dagger that Adaia bequeathed to her child. Great dagger and great sentimental value. It fit perfectly with my two-weapon rogue as well. I kept that dagger with me through the climax of Dragon Age and all the way through Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak and Witch Hunt.

Other items that I was very keen on were the Legion of the Dead armour, Yusaris, King Cailan's Armor set, the Lifegiver ring, the Battledress of the Provacateurr and Marjolaine's Recurve.

From Awakening, I fell in love with Armor of the Sentinel, even if it looked a bit funny on my elf.

I have to complete another run-through of DA2 (and a playthrough of the Legacy DLC) before I can really give my opinion on any of those items, though the Armor of the Champion is pretty cool.

I know I'm late to the party but I had to list a few of my favorites.

1. The Ancient Elven Armor set. My Dalish warden wore it all through the the main game, Awakening and the DLCs. Even though it hurt me stat-wise, from an rp perspective there's no way he'd wear anything other than an ancient suit of his people's armor. One of my Bhaalspawns wore elven chain mail though BG1, 2 and ToB for much the same reason.

2. Morrigan's ring. A bit sentimental, but getting a gift from from my love interest was a nice touch. My character is still wearing it now on the other side of the Eluvian. :P

3. Vigilance. How it was crafted from items picked up while adventuring was great. Really felt like an accomplishment. I prefered the longsword version but both models of the weapon were well done.

1. Starfang - looks good, strong stats and forged specifically for the hero.

2. Vigilance - customisable stats, an epic quest for the ingredients and looks good (thanks to the Starfang bug, thought the correct Vigilance graphic is a bit too close to the DAII art style).

3. Warden Commander's Armour - identifiable reward for clearing Soldier's Peak, solid stats and look excellent. Unearthing an old suit of heraldic armour fits in well with the story of Wardens returning to Ferelden.

4. Aneirin's Token - enjoyable story behind its discovery and provides a characterful boost to a unique ability.

5. Key to the City - handy bonuses, codex entry add up to a nice reward for searching thoroughly.

6. Helm of Honnleath - looks good and has excellent stats.

The Warden Commander armor from Warden's Keep and Regalia of Wiessaupht from Legacy. They both look good, have great stats and are related to the Wardens.

Morrigan's Ring - Morrigan gives it you through romance - it's sweet that someone of her situation is slowly starting to realize her love for the warden and the ring epilogue slide is pretty sad/good.

Spellweaver - off the Arcane Warrior in Frostback mountains - Arcane Warrior is just a cool idea and needs to come back in a less inviknsible way

Staff of Parthalan - DLC - looks sick, should be an Arcane Warrior weapon with different stats cause it was darn near useless

One item? lol not a chance. Lets see... Morrigans ring for story reasons, especially like how its mentioned if you still wear it in Witch Hunt. The Keening Blade, awesome description, and good reward for the Gaxkang quest. The Juggernaut armor, as I am a fan of anything ancient and elven, which brings me to probably my favorite, Topsiders Honor, awesome backstory, good quest and pretty awesome sword as well.

Blightblood, because it is a cursed darkspawn sword, love that poison effect.

Fade Wall becsuse the description implies that the user is partially brought into the fade when using it.
