It isn't so much a matter of him being "ugly" as it is a display of some major discord in the placement of his mouth, as well as its width.

To each their own i guess, i deal with people all day long, i can honestly say that people with that face, lips and body shape exist, it makes him more realistic in my opinion. As oposed to the pretty boy everyone wants.

I like him. Exactly the look I've expected from tanking character.
BTW I see guys with similar faces everyday, so he's just "normal guy who spent too much time in gym" for me. Finally guy who fits in "human normal, not psycho, not freaking superstrong biotic, hasn't got several contradicting features simultaneously", I hope

Sadly, I'm gonna have to agree with this as well - it's not that I dislike Vega's character design exactly (it's just not that interesting to me personally) and there's still too little information on the character's personality/history, but, well.... how do I put this.... Vega's appearance seems to make Jacob's totally redundant to the game's cast.
(though to be fair, Jacob himself was also kinda redundant and needless in ME2 as well) <_<


Just as long as I can get Grunt on my squad, though.... then James Vega will sadly be taking a seat on the bench while my young krogan beats the everloving sh*t out of some husks.

It's absolutely within the scope of real human genetics, in fact he looks a lot like a buffer Hoyt from True Blood, but I'm bothered by Hoyt's face too. Vega's a new character who is possibly a romance, we're subjectively judging his looks. Hopefully someone finds the feedback useful.

If there's an epic smackdown between Jacob and Vega over Jacob's stint with Cerberus, that would rock. One of my biggest quibbles with Jacob is that he would ever work with Cerberus, given his history and personality. And if Vega challenges him and gives Jacob a platform to explain and truly justify his decision to work with Cerberus, well, then Vega will have served a purpose. But Vega still looks like the kind of guy who kicks puppies and doesn't like ponies. SO not a fan.

That's an interesting point and should work very well if that happens.

I just hope he doesn't kick puppies.

He looks a little too much like a character asset from COD for my sci fi geeky liking.

Maybe its just the cargo pants and dog tags though. - regardless its a naught issue though (Don't care what characters wear when wandering the normandy). His face and build look excellent. Exactly what you'd expect from a human who is designed to be a heavily armed tank.
