Then it turns out that most, if not all their characters are deep and complex individuals, which may not appeal to some, but aren't what they first expected

Let's be honest, some people (me) were turned off to Jack because she seemed a cliche.  It turned out that Jack was a cliche.

He looks like a cross between John Cena and Christian Bale to me. If he is an "FNG" per se, at least it looks he'll last longer than Cpl. Jenkins did in ME1.

Are you seriously calling Grunt a deep character? And Jack is just a generic emo psychopath "it's not my fault I like killing people, they made me this way, please love me!". BioWare might surprise us with James, but so far all first impressions based on screenshots have been true (looking at ME2).

Let's face it, James looks like someone who shouldn't even be in your squad, he's just a generic soldier. Hell, I don't get why people don't like Jacob (too normal) but go crazy about this guy.

I don't think bioware has managed a decent beard yet,  just my two cent though.  As is,  though,  I haven't judged Vega yet as I haven't seen anything outside of a few still images.

Woah Godwood, I agreed with you earlier when you said Vega looks like an actual soldier, and I agree with your quoted post. Weird.

Anyway, on topic, Vega looks far better. Still a bit of a meathead, and hardly attractive, but he looks believable both in terms of his face, body and style in terms of an actual soldier...just because he looks like a real marine/soldier/whatever doesn't mean he's pandering to the CoD audience, but then again, expecting rational, intelligent opinons from BSN is a bit much. Same thing goes for him "looking gay." Probably some insecure basement dwellers. What does his sexuality matter?

People want this douche over Jacob? He looks like one of the ****s from Jershey Shore. Dumb haircut and on steriods, all he needs to do is fist pump in a firefight and we have "The Situation" in our squad.

Jeez Bioware, your really letting me down with the characters in this game. Liara, Garrus, and Tali are good, but after that, there's a huge dropoff. Ashley's new look looks good, but its just to make her more appealing to the teenagers that play the game. The new Ashley has replaced Miranda. And now James Vega is just plain dumb. I would ake Jacob any day of the week over this ****.

Unfortunately mostly true and since we could gauge the disposition and personality of many ME2 characters by looking at their screenshots and promotional art I have no reason to think it will be very different for ME3.
then again I do sort of like Jacob.
