Yes, male Shepard didn't. But he did get "Thinking you were gone... was like losing a limb! Why didn't you contact me?!?! Why didn't you let me know you were alive?!?!?" on Horizon

Aliens are not a race they are a species, if she was prejudiced against them she would be called a speciest which she is not. Her creators said that fan misinterpreted her dialogue. She is a pragmatist, a soldier and a systems alliance patriot. And in ME3, bisexual a long with Kaidan.  Just thought I would sneak that last part in there to stay on topic. 

It is ridiculous that people immediately called Ashley a "racist religious zealot" because she said she believed in a God and did not like having aliens on the Normandy.

The Hanar look like Jellyfish to me. If I didn't know that they were an intelligent spacefaring race I would think the same thing. Elcor the same things. Really I can envision multiple scenrious where someone would say that.

 She can come off as somewhat racist (alienist?), but if you talk with her, it's actually more that she's mistrustful of other species in the same way one would be of agents from other countries that yours has a tentative alliance with. A sentiment exasserbated by her dads story.

If you were a soldier on board the most advances ship in the US military and you commander allows an agent from the Russian military full access, I imagine you would be a bit concerned too.


The problem is Mass effect blurs the line between racism and nationalism. Every species is effectively a nation, and putting the human systems alliance first and not trusting the others, is then not racist, but can be mistaken as such.


On the citadel Ashley tells the xenophobic political candidate guy to stfu and she refuses to work with shep on Horizon because of shep's assosiation cerberus.
