I have no problem with the option. It just seems that if he was straight, albeit forcefully, in the first 2, why would he suddenly decide to change his morals? If there is an option for it, that is perfectly fine. I will not choose it, due to the fact that my Shep has been a straight man chasing tail through out every game so far.

Because ONLY femShep ever gives a definitely answer about her sexuality. Even if it's quite hilarious how she does it, no other person in Mass Effect ever gives a non-cryptic answer about this subject.
So yes, only femShep is straight in ME, if you choose her to be.

I don't care what sexuality anyone has in Mass Effect. On my Ship they are all pansexual, my Ship, my rules.
I don't really care about other players Normandys. ;)

And I was in, before the close. *beep*

I like Funkcase's idea.

It be an option, but you have to pursue it.

But that would kind of make all the possibilities closet case bi's then... weird.

Male Shepard could have been gay or bisexual the whole time if the player wants them to be, nothing in the game proves/says differently. Just because the only romance options were heterosexual doesn't mean he had to be straight.

You got a point Kazanth.

Didn't think about it. Maybe Shep was just super duper secretive about his sexuality?

That's my theory, yeah! Since gay male Shepard only ever politely rejects the women who make sexual advances on him, I figure that his homosexuality is something that he doesn't share easily. I'll be interested to see how Bioware handles the, "You never mentioned that you liked men!" issue, if at all.

I'm fine with them being BI, I see nothing wrong with it. I think the option should be if only Shepard persue's it though, they shouldn't flirt with Shepard unless Shepard does first. In that way they remain straight for the people who want them to, and available for people who want them to be BI.

It's not really wanting them Bi, it's either you want them straight or gay. I guess people see it as Bi but I like your idea.

Well yes I would say that, but Kaidan mentions a girl he had a thing for, so I  I think he would be BI. Although I guess Ash could be classed as gay if you wanted her to be. Although pre-ME1 Bioware made a email from Ash to her sister, where Ash says she finds James ''Scruffy-cute'' So I guess she could be BI too.

I hope they put this in the game, atleast everyone can be happy with this.

lol I see your point with Kaidan though Ashley might just be a "announcement propaganda" thing. In the case of James unless he blabbers about an ex-girlfriend or ex-wife or a fling he had with a girl... which I imagine it will be since everyone but Wrex, Ash and Tali talk about old relationships.

Yeah it seemed pretty much that, so it's possible she can be gay, Kaidan BI though.

But if you don't romance Ashley/Kaidan, Ash hints that she's gotten involved with Kaidan or at least she's interested in him. Also she says a boyfriend broke her heart at 16, but she can only say that if you romance her and then choose Liara over her.

She never said that to me.... probably because she got killed in Virmire all of my playthroughs of ME1...

In games where femShep does not exist, Kaidan could be gay if Bioware wanted to push the story that way. "That way" being "Kaidan and Ash are straight if you play an opposite-sex Shepard, but gay if you play a same-sex Shepard."

Just because Kaidan had a "thing" for Rahna (or even a light crush--he doesn't specify to manShep exactly how he felt about her) doesn't mean that he has to identify as straight or bisexual as an adult. People in real life and in fiction can exhibit affection for an opposite-sex friend, only to realize as an adult that they actually prefer the same sex.

Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a prime example of this. She had a crush on her childhood friend Xander, and even a serious relationship with an opposite-sex partner, but as Willow grew older she realized how much she strongly prefered women. As an adult, Willow's character now identifies as homosexual.

Personally, I would like to see bisexual Kaidan in ME3, but if Bioware wanted to make Kaidan strictly gay in games with manShep (but straight in games with femShep) I could reasonably see them pulling it off.

Ashley's answer to the "are you interested in Kaidan?" changes when you romance and don't romance Kaidan. If you are romancing Kaidan, then Ashley will just deny it.  "No ma'am. Besides scuttlebutt says he's already sweet on somemone"

If you aren't romancing Kaidan, she will refuse to answer. She will tell you "that's fraternization. Don't ask, don't tell". If there was nothing going on, Ashley would have just denied it like she does when Shep is romacning Kaidan. She'd only refuse to answer because it's true.

Also Chris L'Etoile had pretty much confrimed it. Bioware had planned to go further with the Kaidan and Ashley getting together. However they didn't have the time, so it was cut.

I see. Useful info to know I guess? "Too bad that squadmate got nuked though." But the sacrifice was a nice touch... I just hate how the same thing happens regardless of who lives.

Too much story and writing and time for that though. I'll gladly accept them with any sexuality if it's interesting though. I thought having a male Shep in all my playthroughs was boring so I played female and I got bored of a staright character after hearig of the bi characters. So let's see how this all plays out.

Here's a short open letter to ReconTeam:

You are a hateful person. A hateful person who apparently loves to demonize and discredit the gay community here whenever something you disagree with gets brought up. All you do is accuse us of playing victim, making demands, and crying discrimination. I don't know if you've ever payed attention to the FftL thread back in the day, but that was certainly not the case. We discussed, we argued, we criticized Bioware for its decisions and comments, but collectively we never once claimed that we were being discriminated against or ever demanded Bioware be inclusive. No matter how much you repeat it that doesn't make it true.

I get it. You think we're a waste of time. Not worth "pandering" to. But did you know that sometimes people can be happy for others? Instead of whining how they have to share a little bit of resources? You claim that even wanting these things is considered desiring special treatment. You think those who are most deserving of their content are the ones with greater numbers. But the truth is you're not entitled to content anymore than the smallest minority out there.

It's quite clear what will satisfy you is nothing more than the exclusion of all gay content in Mass Effect or perhaps even all Bioware products. Nevermind the fact that your desires in terms of romances are already being met. The only thing that will satisfy you is taking something away from others. As David Gaider once said, that type of person deserves the content that caters to them the least.

I do not mind a gay or bi character flirting first but you are right when it comes to previous squad mates. Even if they were possibly into s/s before they never flirted so it would be fake to have them start now. In those cases it would make sense to make Shepard HAVE to make the first move.

@ Backlash93 -- I wonder about Recon Team's heart sometimes too but he has gotten his panties in a bunch over other game decisions that do not match his narrow vision of what they should be. I am happy if everyone gets their way to play Shepard but he is only happy if they can play within the borders HE thinks he should have the power to set up. It is best to focus only on what he has written and not try to define him. Let HIM be the one resorting to calling people "fanboys" which I guess is a personal insult he is very much in love with.
