This just got here today and it was packed between two pieces of cardboard with no interior fold over. Literally, no inside packing at all like the other lithos. There was a very slim backboard, but it was mashed into the back it was so thin I couldn't tell. Take a piece of paper, look at it, fold it in half, throw a half piece of paper in the middle, and that's how this was packed, but card board. The board is curved/warped, but I haven't had a chance to check for damage on the actual litho yet.

Why are we backtracking on this? I've never seen shipping materials so slim and little from you guys, and I'm curious as to why the change?

Just to clarify, I'm not downing on you guys, but it was SUPER thin with no fold over, and I'm really curious to know if the holiday holdup had you guys go a little faster than you'd have liked, or if this is the new standard for 18x24s. Thanks!

Did it still come in a poly bag?

Yes there was a poly bag. Once I get a chance tomorrow, I'll take some pics and check for damage.

I ordered a couple lithos from the Visceral Store and they arrived this way as well. The prints were in perfect condition, although the two sheets of cardboard were all beat up, and the bag was taped to the cardboard, which was a bit terrifying to cut off without bending the actual lithographs :X Gotta say I like the folding box more.

Did they add the poly corners that Domino had mentioned to end the corner damage?

pragia/pergatory got sent to me this way. they actually arrived in better condition than any prior litho that was shipped in the folded cardboard which almost always caused a small amount of corner damage.

I got my Archangel today. The packaging is actually very good -- the actual litho is in a polybag, which is taped to a piece of cardboard larger than the lithograph itself. Another piece of cardboard goes over this, sandwiching it in. Finally, it's placed in a cardboard box of the same size.

The only problem I see with this method is that the lithograph is forced to hold the shape of the cardboard it's attached to. In this case, the cardboard started to warp inwards a little bit. But really, I can't see it being a problem once it's been removed from the cardboard and placed into a frame.

Yes.  My Alice print arrived this way as well.  Honestly, it works just fine for transport and mine arrived in perfect condition.  The only problem I actually see with this is that it was not taped to the interior cardboard, so if anything were to directly damage the back of the cardboard packaging, it could directly transfer damage to the litho (the interior separate piece of cardboard has less risk of being damaged.  Still, not bad.  This method at the very least prevents corner damage.  Now all you really have to worry about are holes and the postman folding the box in half.

Received both Archangel and The Team (unsigned) this morning. Both were packaged the same way as Cheesetogo mentioned above (separately, I forgot to combine). The Team was flawless, Archangel was bent in three places. It's a real crapshoot with my post office lately. It doesn't matter if it's tubed or shipped flat, they'll find a way to mangle it.

I luckily got one a day after the final order date due to a cancelled order. Mine is numbered 125. LOL. So I guess when you order doesn't relate to the number you'll get.

I think now it is supposed to relate to when you order it though, starting from The Team litho onwards... though maybe it was only for The Team litho... I forget.

I got one of the canceled ones like 30 minutes after the first release and I have 93. I rather like the way they package these now no bent corners. Though that never bothered me in the first place. Also in comparison to the other cardboard they used to pack it with the cardboard they use now to sandwich the litho is thiner looking not sure if it actually. It might just be because this cardboard is longer that it seems as such.

Mine was much the same, only there were three pieces of cardboard total.  The one that the litho was taped to, and two more sandwhiching that. The litho had two pieces of tape spanning the length and width of the center piece of cardboard, and all three pieces of cardboard were then taped together to avoid any slippage.

All told, with the exception of a slight curve as you mentioned, it appeared to be securely packaged.

Perhaps the variations mentioned in the thread have more to do with the person doing the packaging.

I just got the 18x24 "The Team" litho and it was packed MUCH better than The Archangel. The Archangel litho itself was pretty much okay, but I find it funny that the open edition non signed litho was packed twice as well as the numbered/signed collectors litho.

I wasn't to happy when Archangel came taped to the cardboard... Gave me a heart attack at first, I still need a frame so I haven't taken it off but I do know it will be a challenge.

Likewise here: the packing looked really unimpressive but it does give a nice wide border to absorb the damage that frequently affected the corners of almost every type of packaging they'd used previously.  Unless the entire package is folded over or punctured, it seems to be a success.  Unlike the latest Valve lithograph that I ordered: their very thick cardboard tubes are normally impregnable, but it had been thrown around with enough force to cause some quite serious dents to one edge of the lithograph.  Fortunately it's only the outer 1-2mm, but still irritating.

Same boat as you, I placed my order and there were over 400 left (I had no processing hiccups and had my credit card security code copied and pasted to speed up processing - it was the only thing I had to fill out).  Got mine today and it was in the 170s as well.  I swear they said that all lithos from The Team and onward would be distributed via order numbers.

I got m mini (18x24) Team litho the other day and it looked like someone started to fold it in half. So far the litho seams fine but I'll get it out of the plastic today and get a closer look. I thought the new packing was supposed to have poly corners. Not a larger and thinner box. I always had issues with the corners but now it looks like it will be easier to fold.

I'd rather have the corners bend a little than have the flimsy thing cardboard. My questions are: What happened to the number of the litho being the number of your order? What happened to the poly corners, etc.? Why not use a uniform packing method that prevents damage? If they are bigger and more flimsy, there is more chance of them being bent.
