Speaking of world and story, #2 of the Dunwall story videos is out.

That animation was so beautiful, thanks for the link. I wonder if they will release them all together in some kind of compilation?

Fantastic video, well done and emotional. My gamer's sense is telling me I need this game. My resistance to Steampunk RPGs: 0%. :|

Well, they were not only inspired by it, a number of the guys at Arkane actually worked on that game, as well as Deus Ex, Arx Fatalis, Half Life 2, Dark Messiah...

Yea, they have some ppl like Harvey Smith that have worked on some good games in the past, BUT, in this day and age, under the current publisher model, I'm gonna remain skeptical until proven otherwise.

Its good you're holding onto that stance... Seeing as this isn't turned based or tacitcal overhead there will be no way it can please you anyway.

That's not true.  I like many games that aren't TB/tactical, BUT I do love that style of RPG & strategy games and was/is pissed that publishers turned their backs on it, because nowadays (as far as AAA gaming and the publishers are concerned) it's not worth making games anymore unless they're gonna sell zillions of copies.

I won't be able to play it until Saturday night.

Hoping for good sales- this is a game that ought to succeed.

Dan Bull did a Dishonored rap which is pretty good.

Same here...hoping it sells well. New IPs are always a question mark. Nothing I've seen has lead me to believe anything but stellar and polish. Everything I've heard only reconfirms this.

I have a feeling there will be massive waves of bandwagon jumpers after release. Spotting a true gem ahead of time always feels so good :P

Somebody said on the Bethesda forums that the Outsider should have been voiced by Jeff Goldblum...

I was oblivious to this game until Addai mentioned it in another thread. I'm keeping my eye on it, but will wait to get your thoughts on it. I've found folks on the BSN to be fairly reasonable in reviews: when something is not up to par, they are generally right on (DA2, ME3 ending), but when things turn out well (LotSB) they recognize that as well.

I AM CONZO!

(Nah, just joking)

http://www.perezstar...hands-on/13702/

Even with all the powers and weapons – which included a crossbow and a handgun, as well as your trusty dagger – fighting the guards directly was something done only out of desperation, as alarms would bring guards from all over the house to overwhelm you.

Sounds difficult but I like challanges. Dishonored will probably play best on the highest difficulty (which knowing Arkane Studios, will probably contain a good challange).

Oh and it took a developer 22 hours to complete a "ghost" playthrough without killing enemies and he didn't even explore everywhere (this is obviously excluding replay value and the differences in each playthrough):

http://vgtoday.net/2...rs-of-gameplay/

The game has a "dark" feel to it the devs claim:

I really want to buy this game but I'd have to choose between this and Project Eternity. Damnit.

There's far too many games out within half a year, so hopefully I'll be able to pick this one up before the end of 2012.

I personally liked the incapacitate one.

Hmmmm....I am so conflicted whether I should get Dishonored or XCOM or neither next week. Both Dishonored and XCOM look great but I have such a backlog I know I won't get around to Dishonored or XCOM anytime soon. I'll probably just wait and read impressions in any event.

Spouse is getting XCOM and of course I'm buying Dishonored. We share a gaming PC.   It's going to be tense.

I tried the XCOM demo and was bored.  Whereas the Dishonored interactive trailer made me chortle with glee.  Playing Thief II recently was an excellent primer.

First comes XCOM then comes Dishonored.
I get a brand new PC for my Birthday.

I can just run XCOM, cant run Dishonored.

I suspect those minimum specs for Dishonored are probably overly cautious. I would be surprised if it actually turns out to be more demanding on the GPU than Metro2033.

If you can run Skyrim, surely you can run Dishonored.

My Gamefly queue reads as such:

Borderlands 2
Dishonored
Port Royale 3

XCom was not a series I ever got into, not sure I want to hop in at this point. Although the low availability of Borderlands 2 means I am hating life right now, with no game in my house. This is the only time Gamefly has ever left me in a bind (I had copies of Skyrim and Madden at my house the day of release, so I guess it was just a matter of more people renting it than they expected.

It is a story-driven action stealth game in an original universe that is based partly on 1660's (Black Plague) London and partly on 19th century whaling cities.  You could call it steampunk.  Here's the debut trailer and here's the gameplay trailer.

It's similar to and inspired by the Thief series, Deus Ex and Bioshock- some of the devs worked on those games, in fact.
