That spoiler about the Heart isn't really implied, it's more completely obvious and everyone figured it out in about 20 minutes.

I wish it were more subtley handled, like only 1 or 2 hints. That would have made it a bit more satisfying when/if you came to the realization. I mean FFS, it's the same voice actress, unaltered, so if you have good voice recognition, the "Surprise" comes way earlier.

The "Mystery" of the Heart is the most poorly handled part of the plot IMHO, but then again, it's still a really clever twist, even if it's Ham fisted down your throat.

Sheesh don't get your panties on fire, I just meant that as a spoiler for people who still haven't played much further or for some reason haven't figured it out(which is like 30% visiting this thread I assume, but still).
Gotta think of the others, mang! ^_^

I'm sorry for how that came out, I didn't mean any offense, I just flowed from the subject and went on a poetic waxing session if you will.

It came out wrong,

Spoiler warning- about the Heart

I didn't make the connection- I mean, it's obvious that the voice actress is the empress- but the actual heart from her body? Now I see it and I'm not sure I can ever use the thing again. *trauma*

The Outsider is all kinds of creepy. His eyes- it's like they're black and yet bloodshot. Guh.

I'm on the Sokolov mission now. Perplexed as to how to maneuver around the apartment. I don't think I'll be able to ghost this one.

Well, based on one of piero's log entry things, he speculates that part of the soul resides within the heart - and that by keeping the heart beating (with electricity) he can basically keep the soul alive indefinitely. He doesn't really like that train of thought, but I doubt the Outsider (who probably gave him that idea in the first place) would have such qualms. I'm not sure how he got ahold of her heart, but in any case, it probably would be her 'actual heart' since it's almost definitely her soul (based on the heart's dialogue/granny rag's comment on the empress).

If you have an upgraded blink (and maybe agility) you can pretty much skip the whole bottom part of his apartment and jump straight across from the abandoned/broken building on the other side. I can't remember how I did it exactly, and I did end up revisiting his house to pick up the painting/money etc anyway.

Otherwise I would recommend getting into the house through the river. From the basement/bottom level you can blink up to the pipes on the side of the room then up across the top of the walls etc - they never look up.

But just to emphasise the many possible methods to get around in this game, you could also just bend time and blink/sprint through the front entrance (since you are invisible at level 2), possess one of the guards and walk in, sneak around as a rat, sneakily kill/knock-out everyone (e.g. bending time and shooting everyone with sleep darts at the same time) etc.
The list is pretty much endless - although some methods will probably have a much higher failure/reload rate.

I ended up solving it pretty easily- I got myself in a tight spot so I was worried, but a few well-timed chokeholds took care of it. On to the last mission- though I might replay the Boyle mission, I missed 2 runes and I think I rushed it a little.

Does anyone know if NG+ is possible? I finished my playthrough yesterday (stealth, obviously) and wanted to try alternate routes with my upgraded powers.

This is a good article at Gamasutra.  It addresses the idea that there is "nothing new" in the game.

Indeed, there isn't as far as I'm concerned, and yet the combination of elements makes for an enjoyable experience. I can always appreciate a game that lets me solve conflicts with something other than a gun (or a lightsaber, to my constant frustration in ToR). As a matter of fact, my combo for 99% of the game was: blink, dark vision, sleep darts, and chokes. It irked me a bit, however, that I couldn't increase the number of sleep darts and was always limited to 10. I only discovered possession's usefulness during the last level so I might try it in the future if there's NG+.

There's no NG+
It's kind of unfortunate in a way, since it means that the bone charms you end up with are going to be largely related to luck (you randomly get allocated 12 out of the 45 available).
For a non-stealth playthrough, having more runes to muck around with would probably also be fun. Either that or a repsec option.

I pretty much exclusively used (upgraded) blink, (upgraded) bend time, (upgraded) agility, and (upgraded) possession in both my stealth playthroughs, although I've been experimenting with blood frenzy on my high chaos playthrough.

I've mostly used Blink, and possession a few times. First time I possessed a guard and walked him through a wired gate was pretty satisfying. I then knocked him out and threw him in a dumpster.    Stealth is dastardly in ways that slashing your way through isn't. I'm getting in the habit of Blinking unconscious guards to rooftops. trololol

Wait until you meet the guards who can Blink as well.:D

EDIT: Forgot to mention "bend time" as well, comes in handy when dodging or taking out groups.

The Assassins are a nasty bunch. After they saw me again and again, I butchered very single one of them and started the mission new after that. Annoying buggers

Yes, the assassins take a bit more effort. I found it particularly difficult to tackle the first two after you're (spoilers follow) poisoned and stripped away of your gear. Problem was that neither of these two made rounds so I couldn't choke them one at a time.

EDIT: Hey, I recognise your sig, isn't that what Syrio tells Arya?

Oh I met some of them already.  Not sure how you're supposed to get around them undetected- I just went slasher on them.

Well, that's certainly an option, but more will certainly follow. My advice for them, as for the entire game really, is: if you can avoid confrontation, do so. Bend time can come in handy here but it's not always required. Failing that, in the case of the blink guards you have some options. Option #1 is to stay put for a while and figure out their patrols so you can choke them out one at a time. If you don't have the patience for that, Option #2 has you shooting sleeping darts to speed up the process. Keep in mind, however, that you only get 10 sleeping darts.

I'm not sure since I didn't try possession until the very end, but maybe it would simplify getting around the assassins. Any thoughts?

I take it you meet these on the final mission? I'm on that now, though I need to go back and replay the Boyle mission since I missed some stuff.

I'll let you know how I work it out.

Oh wow then I really did miss something- where do you encounter all of these guys? I found some outside the Bottle Street Gang headquarters, I think it was mission 3.

No NG+ - I suppose in this case, the replay value is enhanced a bit because you can't get all the powers and upgrades during a single playthrough. So you can try various playthroughs with different approaches.

The Assassins are hanging around in the Flooded District. Just play on you can't miss that part. It's a mission in itself. You will know when you're there, since they and the Weepers are the only ones who hang around in that place.

@OdanUrr

Yes it is. Syrio ftw! B)

I'm pretty sure that you haven't reached the final mission yet - but I think that's the impression they wanted to give.
So I would recommend just continuing to play through the game and enjoy the storyline :)

The only way I figured out how to take them out consistently without detection was to possess one of them, bring him down out of view, then take out the other. For a lethal approach it isn't too hard to just bend time and stab them both - but even with arm strength, choking is a lot slower and pretty much impossible to get both at the same time (usually in such a situation a sleep dart would be necessary)

But, a comon thing which is easy to forget is that you don't actually have to confront every enemy - bending time to quickly sprint past and out the building, or simply possessing a fish and swimming out through the bottom will be equally effective at getting past them (and will only make you lose out on a few coin/potions).

Spoiler: I can't get the font colour to change
The duel with daud was amazing for that reason - both of you can bend time, so you end up having a duel outside time - there is a really awesome feeling to blinking around blocking and parrying while the other assassins are frozen in place. Firing projectiles so that he runs into them was also pretty amusing.

It's unfortunate that a 'fair' duel requires getting detected. After beating him a few times more legitimately I just whacked him with a few incendinary bolts while hidden then walked over to get the dialogue/spare him (it was either that or pickpocket and leave). And in my lethal playthrough I possessed the assassin next to him, got behind him, then assassinated him in one go. Bit of an anticlimax really.

The ending I got was simple yet beautiful. At first I couldn't believe I'd get attached to any of the characters what with practically not being able to talk and all but, somehow, the characters grow on you, particularly Samuel and Emily. I even grew to care about the victims of the plague.

There was this one scene towards the end where you need to return to The Hounds Pit. You come across the place where the City Watch dumps the bodies of the plague victims. I was blinking between buildings and I heard two men talking and one was muttering something about being in a basement since he couldn't see anything. I zoomed in on the scene and realised there was one guy (could've been a doctor, so I'll refer to him as such) pulling another one from the pile of bodies and trying to explain to him that they were infected and that they would die. The dying man protested that the City Watch was supposed to protect them. The doctor simply replied, "They are. They're protecting them from us."

I blinked there at once to see if I could so something but it was obviously pointless, the man died soon after. A few minutes later I returned to the same place and found the doctor a few feet away from his previous spot, lying against a wall, unconscious, and I knew he would soon die as well.

Pretty powerful stuff.:crying:

Ohh so they're being sneaky and I'm not actually on the final mission. Gotcha. I replayed the Boyle mission, was pleased to see that the target and color changed. Nice little touch.

Is anyone else having trouble with zoom? I couldn't get it to work so I keymapped it to Z (which seemed logical) and it still doesn't work. Do you have to hold it down or what?
