Boyle mission done. Super fun level. Went non-lethal and got a bone rune as a reward back at the Pub.

SPOILER!!!!!

There is an attic upstairs connecting two of the bedrooms. It can be found by blinking up to a narrow ledge going around the room and entering a tiny vent like door that opens into a bigger room. I'm sure my fellow gamers have found it, but if you haven't, check it out next time through...

I thought the non-lethal approach was pretty damn evil. Giving her to THAT dude? Image IPB

Yeah, the non-lethal approach was worse in that case IMO.
I ended up assassinating her, despite going for a non-lethal approach for most of the game.

What's so bad about "That" dude?

He seemed legit. I mean, I ganked her, but what does he do? Is he like a slaver?

He is a love slaver  And they are going to live in a little country house not like Lady Bolye used to. But she is going live a long life and going to die of old age. (outsider tells that in Masquare misson)

The guy is a stalker with a crush and you basically give her into sex slavery for the rest of her life.

What if he truly loves her though? Like not in a rapey way? Maybe he's a good guy. I know when I brought her corpse down to him, he cried out, "NO! My Sweet Love! YOU MONSTER!"(WTF IS WRONG WITH ME?!)

And yeah, I signed the **** out of that guest list. If you go into the Lord Regent's room during the next mission, one of the Boyle family writes him a letter that informs him of that, and it's crumpled on his desk.

Agreed, it was pretty disturbing, but I couldn't find an alternative. I guess perhaps death would be preferable.

He really seems to love her. But it's creepy nonetheless. Because I'm pretty sure that she is not into that Image IPB

Well, it's go with the ONLY man who cares enough to save you, or die horribly via Witchcraft.

Maybe they had a past history or something?

IDK why I'm defending the nonlethal option when I went jack the ripper on her ass BTW.

With a flourish.  :wizard:

I loved the Boyle mission.  That's one of those that after you replay it a few times, you'll forget how awesome it was on the first run, so let's all remember how awesome it was.  From the surprise duel to the confetti-spewing whales.

Oh BTW- I did replay it, and both the target and the color clothing she was wearing changed!

It was a simple mission, though I had a hard time finding my way upstairs at first.

Just finished the Tower mission.

:pinched::pinched::pinched:

I could kind of see the next part coming, but wasn't prepared for it to be quite that bad.  Corvo's got the worst luck in the world.  Not a good attribute for an infiltrator/ assassin.

Really worried about Emily- these game devs gut you with these story lines tough male PCs and the little girls who trust them.  After I finish Dishonored I'll be playing The Walking Dead ep 4...

I was a little disappointed that there weren't more small reminders in the Tower that this used to be Corvo's and Emily's family home, like being able to identify which room was his or finding her lost doll.  Unless I just missed that stuff.

If you missed it, that makes two of us, the only thing I saw was the plaque that marked the spot where the Empress was killed. As for what comes after the Tower, it was predictable.

Haha yeah... as soon as Corvo's vision got blurry after drinking I was like: "**** just got real! No more mercy for those buggers! Nobody threatens little girls, screws me over and murders poor servants while I'm around and lives!"

And that feeling stayed till I got my hands on the last boss

Heh, yeah, I wasn't going for a completely non-lethal playthrough but on my game Corvo starts getting sadistic in the Tower. He left a stack of burned and dismembered bodies in the regent's room. In case anyone missed his "signing the guest book" this time.  He mostly left the downstairs guards alone, and the maids.  My stats say I killed one friendly but I don't know who that could be.

Spoilers....

Now, though.. NOW they've done it!!!!! I thought the vision blur was something supernatural, the Outsider messing with him. But my hackles raised when the admiral said "Emily's first act as empress will be to clear your name." Hello, dude... you don't tell me what my daughter's first act as empress will be. That's not how this thing is going to work.

I just finished the game....wow just wow. The parts till the tower were all just complete mindf*ck, in a good way though. I can't wait to play again, maybe this time I'll kill all the people who screw me.

I finished as well. I hate finishing games...

Spoilers:

There are things about the story that made me cringe a little, I think it reflects an overly idealistic and simplistic view of political power and recovering from disaster, but that's not the heart of the story for me which is Corvo and Emily. And *lump in throat* being a daddy's girl myself, that really got me. I don't think I can play high chaos... not for a long time, anyway.

I have some unresolved questions, like how Corvo could have restored his name, what he does with the heart- does he release Jessamine? I think he would.  Does the Outsider ever leave him alone?

Even apart from story considerations, an AMAZING game. Like I thought before I started from the run-up marketing, it's like the game was made for me. I'll definitely replay, just to experience it again.

Did you see the text in the final level about the philosopher who wanted more humane treatment of whales?  At least there's some acknowledgement in the world of that.

Started playing this yesterday. Been pretty fun so far and it looks great in 3D Vision.

Having just come from a replay of both Thief 2 and 3 presented me with some difficulties though. Even though it's clearly stated that stealth is obstruction-based here, I still automatically kept on trying to hide in the shadows...which obviously failed dramatically, leading to some serious bloodshed.
And even though Corvo seems very capable in the bloodshed department, anytime I find myself having to fight I end up reloading, probably also courtesy of the Thief games (damnable "You're a thief, not a murderer. So don't kill anyone." objective being stuck in my head).

Well... considering the in-game prophecy that the world will be swallowed by the void, when the last whale dies and the fact that the epilogue is only shown in the plane of the Outsider aka the void...

I've read quite a few theories from people who think that, no matter what you do, the last of the whales were hunted down and the world was swallowed by the void just as it was foretold.

But I reject that version and substitute my own! :D

So if I understand it correctly, Corvo, a former Lord Protector of the late Empress becomes the *new* protector of her daughter as well?
