I'm not really into arena type DLC, but I'll get Dunwall City Trials to support the IP. I'm looking forward to the Daud one. The third DLC will be story-based as well, but they haven't said what it's about yet. Maybe Corvo backstory?

Anyone getting the Dunwall City Trials DLC?

It's not my thing so I'll get it eventually but haven't bothered yet. However I heard that Emily and the Empress make an appearance on one level, which makes me wonder if they're doing story things with it also.

I just got the DLC from Greenmangaming for only €3.25 thanks to some coupon code. The arena type DLC really isn't my kind of thing either, but for that money...eh.

Anyway, there's no story things in it really. Emily and the Empress are in the last of the mobility challenges, which sees you racing to the end as fast as possible using a series of drop assassinations. The Empress happens to be your last kill and Emily, Callista and the Lord Regent find themselves in the same room as well.

Though they're fun enough, I can't really see myself play any of the 10 challenges more than a few times.

Just wish they were all stealth ones, instead of only 2 of them, as they're by far the most fun. In the first one you need to assassinate a randomly selected target and you can use 4 clues (think things like the target is wearing blue clothes, or isn't wearing a hat or mask) spread through the level to help narrow down the target. Killing anyone but the right person is game over.
The second stealth challenge is very...Thief really. Stealing as much as possible without getting detected more than 3 times.

Now bring on the second DLC. Playing as Daud? Yes please!

I have spent the past few hours trying to get this game to work. I have tried running as an administrator, Steam offline, without in-game Steam, windowed, restarting the PC, restarting Steam, reinstalling Dishonored, installing new AMD drivers, validating the cache, running CCleaner, disabling anti-virus, and all combinations of those. Is there no way to play this game on the PC?

I have it with Steam on PC and haven't had a single crash or serious glitch.

You should post your dxdiag on the Bethsoft Dishonored forum.

This is the one game that came out this year that I was interested in at launch but haven't gotten around to buying yet. I might wait and see if it gets any cheaper during Steam or Amazon or the other digital download services' sales, since I know even if I buy it now it'll likely go in my backlog and not be played for a while.

I'm guessing you're having the crashing on launch problem that continues to trouble a fair amount of people? Unfortunately it seems you've already tried all the solutions I always see mentioned regarding that. For most people it seems to be Steam related and running Steam in offline mode does the trick. Hopefully you'll find something that does the trick for you.

I've actually had it too.
I got through a single game just fine, no problems at all. Then when I was one day into my second playthrough the game suddenly started crashing on startup, without there having been one single change on my PC, hardware or software. So I just gave up and started playing other things.
Reinstalled the game last week and found it was still doing the crashing. Running Steam offline finally made things work again this time though.
Then a day later it suddenly started working again just fine with Steam online, again without anything having changed on my PC. Weird **** this.

As for that second playthrough I just finished, it was high chaos this time, and I liked it less than low chaos. Except for the last level, which was more fun on high chaos.

And I'm kinda bummed the heart wasn't really used as part of the story, which it should have given its voice and also that one recording from Piero hinting at its origins, but only as a gameplay device for finding runes and charms.

Wow, glad I haven't ever encountered that. I mostly played with Steam online to track my hours played.

I see the Heart primarily as a narrative device, not gameplay. You know that if you click on it or point it at people, she tells you secrets? And there are a few lines which are personal to the Heart herself. It's one of the coolest game mechanics I've come across in a while.

Yeah I know that, and I agree it's one of the cooler mechanics around in a while.

It's just....the heart is the Empress'.
It obviously has her voice. And then there's the audiograph recording in which Piero is speculating on the spirit. How he wonders if part of the soul lives in the heart and if it means that if the heart keeps beating, which he can do with electricity, the spirit is never released to oblivion. This implicating that Piero created the heart (under influence of the Outsider).
Given how close Corvo and the Empress most likely were I just wanted something more storywise regarding the heart. But no, the Outsider hands it to you and that's it.

Maybe they'll do something interesting storywise in the 3rd DLC.

Not sure what you're expecting. She makes several comments about her relationship to Corvo. But I think their style in general is to leave certain things mysterious.
