It would depend. I thought about joining the military in today's society and ultimately didn't. If the issues I had were mostly resolved in the future- which they aren't, it seems- then no.


Unless I was a biotic. In which case I'd go just to get all the awesome upgrades, do my stint, and then leave for the Terminus systems and market my abilities out.

Depends on how available/affordable interstellar travel is for average citizens. If it was prohibitively expensive, then yeah I would seriously consider joining the Alliance Navy to "see the world", as it were.

Yeah, of course I woul... mmm... Nop, not really. I've never being a fan of fighting for the interests of some government and their economically powerful associates, interests that not necessarily corresponds to the will of the people.

But I do admire and appreciate the soldiers' labor, and I would rather participate in a military effort such as the UN Peacekeeping Forces. Don't really know which the ME equivalent would be.

Hell yeah! I'm (planning) on joining the air force as a pilot in real life, so I would definitely fly hyper-advanced space ships.

Well then maybe the closest would be C-Sec, there are separate divisions.

Nah, I've got far more science background in my family than military, so I'd probably still be an engineer in the Mass Effect universe. Also, learning about all the new tech and science would be way more fascinating than killing different species of aliens.

Colonist?  From what ME's shown us, they all get asteroids dropped on their capitals, have their minds taken over by sentient plants, are attacked by geth, and are abducted and liquefied by mutant protheans.  I'll stick with piloting space ships thank you.
