So I was just wondering who is the new Jenkins might be and thought Vega could be a good fit, I mean he just seems pretty dull and unremarkable and seems to be the perfect candidate for being cannon fodder.

He's the ME3 version of Kaidan and Jacob, existing for the player to relate to. Both experience everything at the same rate as the player who is first experiencing the galaxy / working toward whatever.
So he's there for the long haul. He even has an alternate outfit unless you expect him to suddenly die with a different outfit.

When i saw Jenkins..i thought, "Wow, this guy is god damn awesome, he has to be the most amazing character in any story i have ever seen, and i had not even talked to the man fox yet"....and then he died. Needless to say, i never touched the game again, and i spend most nights alone and cold with only a dream of Jenkins to keep me warm.

Nah, he'll be in it for the long haul. They put too much work into the design and promotion of his character for him to be thrown away in the first five minutes. Both Jenkins and Wilson were generic NPC models.

I doubt they would give any advertisement in anyway shape or form with vega if they intended to merely kill him off right off the bat

I always imagined Jenkins and Wilson as the Vicks and Wedge of ME, almost like a tribute to Final Fantasy, where there is always atleast one of them in every game, and they almost always end up dying in game.

Nah, he's a full fledged squaddy. We've seen at least two looks for him now and they've been advertising him a lot.

I doubt it, but I think that at this point Sheperd should do a little lampshading on the fact that he starts his major adventures with a subordinate dying all the time.

Just think of it this way: Jenkins and Wilson were never announced as part of your squad, and played very minor roles. We all know Vega is part of your team and will have a more significant part to play.

IKR? I'm actually excited to see how his character plays out, and he's the only new addition that we know of. I'm sure there will be more newbies, but I'll take what I can get.

I dont know, while I dont think Anderson will die a needless death like Jenkins or Wilson I dont expect him to survive the game either, Anderson will probably fill the role of "the black guy who sacrifices himself for the good of the team".

Vega wont be the new Jenkins/Ulgo/Wilson. None of those characters got nearly the attention Vega has gotten already. I do think that the trend will continue though, likely with another 'fodder' Alliance soldier.
