And FF having them was only as a nod to Star Wars...

Biggs = Luke's old Tattooine buddy (who got killed during the Trench Run)
Wedge = the guy who went with Luke into the final Trench run move before Luke told him to get out when Wedge's targetting system malfunctioned (if memory serves) and then of course he appeared in the next 2 movies, helping Lando in the last one destroy the 2nd Death star.

Vega ain't gonna be the next Jenkins/Wilson seeing as he has an appearance pack and they aren't going to waste that on someone who will die so early before we can even alter his appearance.

Beat me to it. But I'm so glad I wasn't the only one who noticed. :happy: Wedge is the recurring hero no one ever speaks of. The rebellion would of failed without him.

How can a guy we basically know exactly two sentences on be unremarkable and dull?

We know nothing about him other than what he looks like and that he's an "Alliance Soldier" to make any kind of personality remarks or what not on him yet.

Sure, why not? Let's all lump the guy with Jenkins and Wilson without knowing much about his character, other than his name, spec, and appearance. Such a brilliant notion! Why didn't I think of it earlier? Oh, right! It's because I plan on giving the guy a chance first before locking myself away in a basement below Bioware's HQ to work on plans to take him down "James Bond" style. Hey, if you're gonna take someone out, why not creatively?

Vega is there to help new people get into the game. That's a little hard to achieve if he dies ten minutes into the game.

Not to mention that it'd be pointless to give him a AA outfit.

Honestly, long as he doesn't "replace" possible ME1 or ME2 squaddies from BEING squadmates just because he's now a character - I'm fine - BioWare rarely screws up new "big" characters, and he seems like a guy there for totally newcomers for the series, being brand new himself. By the third game, I frankly don't want tons of new characters if that means less with previous ones established prior. I know given ME2's suicide missions who lives/dies is hard to go about that in ME3 and make them still huge characters/squadmates... but doesn't seem fufilling otherwise.

That being said, James Vega prob will be awesome regardless.

Honestly I hope Vega isn't.  He seems kind of cool.  If Blizzard pulls another Mhairi, I am gonna be pissed, even if I don't care about the character that much personally.
