 spoilers warning..............

so you can pickpocket the bad luck charm off the barkeep in the spoiled princess. but what is the point? surely, there has to be some use for this item somewhere in the game.
does it really even bring you bad luck?

i always just sell it back to him after i have stolen it. but this has never given me any peace of mind about its mysterious apperance in the game.

The DAWiki says:

The Bad Luck Charm can be stolen from the Innkeeper of The Spoiled Princess near Lake Calenhad Docks. It can be sold (for 0) or destroyed. However, when in the party inventory, it reduces the success rate of pickpocketing. It has no known benefit to the player.

It could be a nod to the fact that the barman has not had good luck in his life. If you ask his story, he inherited the bar from his deceased father and it was named after his spoiled-brat of a sister who ran off somewhere (or something to this effect).

Hope your curiosity is sated!

It's also suppose to decrease your success rate of being able to pit pocket.

Right. I will probably pickpocket it from him and sell it right back to him. Which is funny.

So who does everyone think the bad luck charm should be sold to? Since there is no reverse pickpocketing in the game, would it not make sense to sell it to the most dishonest crooked thief merchant in the game? And does this trigger some kind of dialogue with that merchant, I wonder? If sold to said merchant? My first thought would be bodhan in the party camp, since he admits to taking items from the dead.

There's nothing more to the bad luck charm that has already been explained. Deal with it.

"Deal" with what? You're talking to me as though I've got some unresolved complaint.

I'm purely interested in just making conversation. For role-play purposes. As to who would be the best person to give the bad luck charm to.

No need for you to be an idiot.

Sadly, there's always someone who's willing to be obnoxious for no apparent reason and the go-to phrase for that is 'deal with it,' 9 times out of 10. Really, they might as well tattoo 'I'm a dick' on their foreheads.
