Ok on the gear...spellward is a sword that's only usable by arcane warriors correct? I've never heard of the first enchanter's cowl......
Ok as a mage... how do you fight other mages in the circle tower? I always- and I mean always get knocked around by them.....

Friendly fire is inevitable but easily manageable if you do play nuker-type characters, since you understand the playstyle. I play exclusively on nightmare and friendly fire has never been an issue for me. No one has ever died from friendly fire in my games, not when every mage has Group Heal and Force Field.
The Spellward is an amulet.
The fact that very few people know of the First Enchanter's Cowl suggests how very few people know that the mage is not only overpowered offensively, but also defensively, even without Arcane Warrior levels.
You shouldn't have any problems with mages in the circle tower. You only encounter the dangeroues ones in the Fade, and here you should have access to at least two forms with AoE knockdown. One of these forms is fire-immune.
I'd save Mana Clash for truly deserving mobs like that the envy demon near the top floor and the lich.

I hope cone of cold is enough to stop mages before I pick up fireball? Since staffs usually suck at dmaage they sure get my health down low.....>.>
