You would have squad of 4 and you would go around galaxy doing missions. You could create your own character and pick it's race.
But RTS wouldn't be a bad option either.

But that game is quite old and very few people have it and play it.
We haven't had a good space RTS in a long time. Plus, the ME universe may not be the best to use for an RTS. Wouldn't everyone just camp and turtle up their mass relays?

Mass Effect RTS >>>>>>>>>> Mass Effect MMORPG
Seriously, people should STFU about Mass Effect MMO and embrace the idea of a Mass Effect RTS.
A Mass Effect MMO is doomed to fail even before the production has started. A Mass Effect RTS could actually be pretty nice. Something along the lines of Dawn of War (Warhammer 40k) or Company of Heroes could be nice for Mass Effect.

On topic, however, I would not be very happy with a Mass Effect RTS. Bioware has no RTS expierance, and I would not be comfortable with an outside company getting their grubby paws into Mass Effect. I'm a little divided on the MMO front. While the size and scope of an MMO would allow us to really dive into the universe and explore vast environments and different planets, I'm not sure I like the idea of dubbed down story and graphics.

Are you insane? Go away from your computer NOW, run to the nearest video-game store, buy Dawn of War 2, Dawn of War 2: Chaos Rising, Dawn of War 2: Retribution and of course STARCRAFT 2!
Yes, play Dawn of War 2 and Starcraft 2 and then come back to take back what you just said.

I said space RTS.
But, like I said, an ME RTS may be difficult to implement due to the mass relays since you can just camp and turtle them up.

I meant a space RTS like Homeworld, as in ship-to-ship combat.

What are you talking about? RTS games are rarely in space. Fights in RTS games usually take place on planets. So Mass Relays don't matter.
Take a good look at Dawn of War 2 and Company of Heroes, especially the gameplay of both games. Mass Effect RTS could be like that.

If a ME RTS were made it should have space battles. I think a ME Strategy would be more unique if it had 4x elements. Like, you could have a view of all the planets in play to be conquered/mined and you basically fight for the planets through space and land. You could also be able to negotiate, with other races, and maybe even betray your allies. Like If I were the Turians, I could orbital strike an Asari planet because I didn't like how they were treating me. Something like that I would definately get.

Sounds like an awesome idea to me.
Now for setting. It has to fit in the ME universe. What could be the setting of the ME RTS? First Contact War? Rachni War? Krogan Rebellion? Everyone v.s Reapers? Reapers v.s Prothean?

For the first ME RTS I think it should be when humanity is at it's best or atleast pretty formidable, and there is atleast one common enemy. So I think First Contact war or Everyone v Geth/Reapers time lines would be a good setting.Luc0s wrote...

Actually meant First contact war since Humanity is space faring.
