No. I love mass effect and i love RTS games but i think mixing them together would be a disservice to both.
RTS is a much larger scale than third person shooters so it's the genre that gives us the best perspective of the war. It's a credit, not a disservice.

Is anyone hoping for a mass effect RTS besides me after masseffect3 most llkely it will have the multiplayer everones asking for.
If we keep this thread at the top the dev might consider it:wizard:
Yes! The franchise really does need an RTS somewhere along the line. The setting's really conducive to one as well, what with differing races in a contested galaxy that all have varying battle methods and tactics. I'd love to be able to see the Krogan Rebellions presented in this manner, or even some new post-Reaper invasion battle that comes along years into the future.

Haven't had a good RTS in a long time, Paulinius? Starcraft 2 would like a word.
On topic, however, I would not be very happy with a Mass Effect RTS. Bioware has no RTS expierance, and I would not be comfortable with an outside company getting their grubby paws into Mass Effect. I'm a little divided on the MMO front. While the size and scope of an MMO would allow us to really dive into the universe and explore vast environments and different planets, I'm not sure I like the idea of dubbed down story and graphics.
Irrelevent. Bioware can have all of the RTS experienced developers that EA will give them. And they have. They're working on Generals right now. Fact is that Bioware is EAs big name for single player games. EA could put the Bioware label on their NFL development team, and make the announcement that the new NFL will be a Bioware game with choices, consequences, emotionally driven narrative and gay romance.

.
And given the fact Bioware is making Generals 2, I can see it happening in the future.

Mass Effect RTS >>>>>>>>>> Mass Effect MMORPG
Seriously, people should STFU about Mass Effect MMO and embrace the idea of a Mass Effect RTS.
A Mass Effect MMO is doomed to fail even before the production has started. A Mass Effect RTS could actually be pretty nice. Something along the lines of Dawn of War (Warhammer 40k) or Company of Heroes could be nice for Mass Effect.
A dawn of war style RTS would be awesome... Allow for more than 4 units, but same basic idea with ME races/squads... could be freaking amazing.

the shooter and rts genres don't mix well (see Halo Wars)
Halo Wars really wasn't that bad. I'd take it over most of the more recent C&C games.

There were like 1000 deaths on first contact war, it would be lame to drag that one out. First contact was little more than a few skirmishes against human space stations, so there isn't a lot of room for enemy variety if it's just turians vs humans and not a lot of missions.
I'd like it if it were a standalone mission as a prelude to the war against Saren. That way the campaign could have you controlling the alliance battling against the Geth and finish with the reaper boss battle. Wouldn't be small scale, but it wouldn't be massive either. It'd be around the middle. Something like the size of the average RTS in the post-starcraft era.
After killing Sovereign, the campaign could benefit from a change of pacing, and I'm not really sure exactly how anything should proceed from here. It might be good for the games sense of pacing to downsize the scale of conflict. You wouldn't be controlling an alliance fleets armies and production, you'd be doing spec ops involving cerberus, spectres, STG, mercenaries and the collectors. It's less about building and control group management, and more about making the most out of much more limited resources.
And then part 3 would just be an all out galactic cluster**** between everyone and you'd be battling across the whole galaxy.

Fallout Tactics is one of fav pc game back in highschool. The promotion system, bartering, vehicles, 6 people squad reminds me of Bioware's classic such as Baldur's Gate and IWD series.

Also there are other things that would be cooler in my opinion...like Mass Effect mixed with Star Wars: Battlefront. And it could have a multiplayer similar to Left 4 Dead (where you have an objective and have to fight enemies along the way with other players. And Rpg elements can be thrown in too.)
The good thing about this though would be that you could do battles from different points of ME history.
For example you could be a Krogan in a Rachni hive fighting heaps of Rachni or you could be a human who has to hold off a point against heaps of Turians in the First Contact War.
EDIT: But most of all I think they should just keep focusing on their singleplayer games instead of cashing out on spin-off games and etc.
Its going to take a lot of ME games until I'm bored of singleplayer ME.

Not those silly starcraft skirmish battles which somehow need depict a whole war.
