The redesign is awesome =o
I would prefer if he looked like that. Like many have said already his nose and wide mouth give him a slightly strange look, but it may be that in game he looks better than in these released screenshots. Nevertheless as long as he's an interesting guy i don't mind his looks.

Even though I have no issues with the original design, OP your redesign is really top notch.  An excellent facial design choice.

The original looks like a (slightly musclebound) actual person.

Redesign looks like an idealized pretty-boy like Sheploo or a protagonist you'd find in Final Fantasy or Devil May Cry or something. No bueno.

So, where did Sanders go? Of the few glimpses I saw of him, he was cool, I liked him. A jolly good chap, or whatever. And when I think of the name Vega, I think Street Fighter, and when I see him, I think Chris Redfield for some reason, despite the face. Vega... Sanders, I think Sanders is better. We had our doses of pumped up douches from ME2. While Jacob was nice and all, Mr. Vega here doesn't have that gritty look Sanders have in the intro.

That guy in the into, the british Sniper was never James Sanders, and it was even confirmed he wasn't by BioWare.


James Vega = James Sanders with a new last name.

I actually prefer the original. Not that the original's particularly good-looking, but he doesn't have to be. He looks far more memorable than the redesign, in my opinion (whose devastating handsomeness is rather par for the course). Some compromise between the two might be nice.

As much as the altered face in the OP looks great, I don't see why the changes need be so radical - Vega doesn't need to look like a magazine model. I prefer a more subtle tweaking of facial features (also hair), a la:

Altered: Left

OP's Vega is a good looking fellow, but I prefer BioWare's Vega. His face is more original. Although my hope that he was voiced by "Nigel Fish'N Chips" have being dealt a blow, the voice wouldn't go with the face.

Just can't see it now. Hopefully he makes an appearance somehow.
