I think your new version is pretty awesome. It gives his face more... character, I guess. Granted, we haven't seen him in action or speaking yet, so the original could look much better in game. Nothing is final yet, either. BioWare may very well tweak him--this was only the first image released to us.

Still, as others have said, the changes don't need to be so drastic. Slight changes to his nose and mouth will do the trick, as can be seen in the multiple fan versions floating around the boards currently.

Honestly I'd be fine with the original if they would get rid of the mohawk thingy he's got going. Never been a fan of mohawks. But I don't hate him and I can't say I won't use him until after the game comes out.

I much prefer your tweak, Olwydd.  He still looks distinctive (particularly in that his head still matches his bulky body), but your version tones down on the shortness of the nose and large space between nose and mouth.  A plus.

I prefer the original, so long as they change the nose and lips. Remember when everyone was b*tching about that one pic of Isabela over on the DA2 forums and yet she ended up looking very different (and much hotter) in the actual game?

ok well it's  makes big improvement to face.  bodies looks way too much like Hulk from that bad Hulk movie years ago (liked the most recent Hulk movie though)

Edit: I like it, especially how his shoulders aren't lopsided in the OP version.

That said, too many people are judging the character on looks alone. Let's wait to find out he's yet another boring, goody two-shoes, paradigm of morality, cut from the same cloth as Kaiden Alenko and Jacob Taylor TOOL, and then we can all rejoice in our shared ridicule and loathing!

He looks 10x better, but therein lies the problem. Why does all the crew have to be attractive? What's really so wrong with having a guy with average looks?
I agree he's large, but he's no larger and chubbier-faced than the sorts of men who enter those global strongman contests. Maybe James is into that sort of stuff.

Big Ben, eh? Yum. I'd trade the entire Normandy crew (minus Joker; no one else can fly the ship as well as he does) for a piece of that. Oh, he'd also need to have the trailer narrator's voice. *thinks about the possibility of her Sheps romancing a character who resembles and is voiced bv Sam Worthington* OMG. *dead*

Not sure if it's been said already, so Imma go all Old Cronie on a few folks, specifically those who are acting all "IMMA KILL HIM!" simply because of what he looks like. You barely know a thing about him, so before you start hootin' and hollerin', do yourself and everyone else here a favour: look at your life, look at your choices.

Moving on, just in case folks have forgotten, Mr. H did say some days ago that Vega's (and Liara's) appearance is not yet final. I believe he really values our opinions (the respectful ones, anyway) and considers what is said, especially on the forums. There is still plenty of time for changes to be made. I mean, we've got like, what, 7 months plus a few weeks until the game's released? Who knows, maybe Mr. H will take some folks' opinions under consideration and Vega will be so friggin' awesome that our own Shepard finds himself/herself in awe of him. Hey, it could happen. We'll all just have to see, yes?

I will offer up one last bit of advice before callin' it a night. Yeah, some say offering advice on this forum is just gonna fall on deaf ears, but eh, I might actually get through to someone, and just one someone is worth it.

Right, the advice:

If you're going to critique someone's work, be it by a fellow poster or someone from Bioware, please do it respectfully and with tact. Doing the complete opposite isn't going to win you any friends or favours, on the 'net or in real life. I should know. I've been around comin' on 31 years next month, so you know I'm not just talkin' out of my arse.  Heh, it'd be a damned funny sight if I could, eh? Hmm, I wonder how much money I could make from that... *mind wanders somewhere that isn't here*
