(Not really a new topic. And probably belongs in a different forum. But I do not meet the requirements to post in other forums?)

After my first few tries, I read all the valuable advice on these forums, and adjusted my strategy accordingly. Some tantalizingly close calls -- down to Branka and Oghren, Branka and Morrigan, Branka and me. Morrigan might have prevailed had Branka not resisted that last cone of cold.

Around try 10 or 12 I grew disheartened, and in the words of the guy who tried 17 times, "went over to the dark side," which worked immediately.
But I can't help admiring the poster who succeeded on the 32nd go-round.

Thinking the unthinkable, going back to the last pre-Branka save and renewing the effort, losing the subsequent hours of gameplay.

I am a Level 16 Mage, with Oghren, Morrigan, and Shale. Coming at this as the last of the 4 main quests. For my money Branka is much harder then Uldred, or Jarvia.

The best tactic against branka is to make Shale assume his defensive Stoneheart mode and target her. Set your character close to one area of lyrium veins and help the friendly golems along in their battle, set morrigan close to the other area and have her take down some of the enemy golems. Make sure to keep Shale healed up. As you and Morrigan run low on your mana supply, use the lyrium veins for sustinence. You'll have to personally babysit yourself and morrigan a lot though.

After the enemy golems are taken out, use your strongest spells to take down Branka, it's best to put her under the influence of Weakness, Paralyze, Vulnerability and Affliction Hex, and whatever other debuffs you have. Make sure you tap into the lyrium veins constantly and use them all up or Branka will run to them for aid.If you have Misdirection hex this is especially useful. Also making Oghren use pommel strike a lot will be beneficial (and I'm sure he'll thank you for the oppurtunity)

That should help :D

Branka is difficult, and doubly so.

Definitely, with two mages it will be necessary to micro-manage them a little to keep them out of trouble.

Curse of Mortality is a spell that has saved my party quite a few times. If one of your mages has that spell it may help to take down Branka. Death Hex might also help. Glyph of Repulsion can send enemies flying backward if they try to attack a mage protected by that glyph.

A very strong cup of coffee always helps my game.

You need to register your game before you can post in the other forums.

Try sending her a PM, I'm not sure she understands the site's structure very well (it took me about 2 days before I figured out "oh, this is where I register my game key...oops :D...and another day before I realized "wait I've been playing the game without all the dlc I got from the ultimate edition...oops again :D)

Thanks guys . . . I registered my game and can post now! Thanks for the strategic advice as well. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet as the love of my life was pulling an all nighter seeking the Urn of Sacred Ashes.

It helps to have a durable squad and a tank with high defense (golems=bad melee accuracy). Just have the tank do their job and make sure that everyone is attacking the same enemy. Some crowd control couldn't hurt, though it isn't essential.

The two npc golems that fight along side you should come under fire initially. Either fight along side them or use them to buy time while you fight a golem that they aren't currently engaged with. You should be able to take one or two golems down before the two ally golems fall. Then, just finish off the one or two remaining golems before ganging up on Branka. You probably could finish the fight off sooner by going after Branka first, but I prefer to draw these boss fights out as I'm a fan of the more epic boss fights. Minions die first, then the boss.

My parties usually fight this battle straight forward, starting with one golem (lowest rank golems first) and moving on to the next, and saving Branka for last. Usually Alistair is the one tanking, and the rest of the companions usually include Oghren, Leliana and Wynne.

I never have problems with Branka, my party of Shale, Wynne/Morrigan, Oghren and myself seems to kill that woman every time. First I focus my fire on the enemy golems while having the mage healing the friendly golems.

Same for me aswell. She is annoying no doubt, but not really that hard if you have a reasonable team setup and focus fire.

Tend to be Warden, Oghren, Morrigan and Wynne. Not sure what other people use Morrigon for, but I tend to spec her on hexes and elemental damage. Wynne of course is dedicated healer with glyphs.

She's dead. This feels soooo much better than taking the easy way. Try # 15 approximately. This time none of my party died -- not even too close really. I used the same strategy all along . . . I guess with each defeat I was getting better? Now to go do all that other stuff again . . .

The Branka fight can be trivial if Morrigan has Flying Swarm. First part of the battle, have everyone kill as many golems as they can. Second part, have everybody else mop up while Flying Swarm kites Branka. Third and final part, everyone heals and focus on Branka. I've killed her as early as level 12 I think, might be 13 but I remember my PC didn't have a second spec yet (or the fight would have been much more straightforward). It's not a foolproof strategy especially on the first few tries, since your swarm needs to follow a specific circular path and navigating with the swarm is not so easy with a PS3 controller (for the PS3 version) but it works very well.

This one time, all four of us were still alive, all the golems were down. Branka was frozen in a cone of cold, down to about 1/4 health. My mage was there quaffing a potion, Shale and Oghren were right there, I told Shale to slam her and Oghren to mighty blow and sent Morrigan over to some lyrium. Next second 3 of my party portraits turned to skulls and Morrigan was alone against Branka. It didn't end well.

What level was this? At lower levels you do not actually try to tank Branka, but kite her along unless you have something like two Shapeshifters (if she's not dead yet after 4 Overwhelms + the rest of your party whacking/nuking her for about the 20 seconds she spends writhing on the ground then there's something wrong about your party's overall DPS).
Tanking her outright rarely ends well unless you have a dedicated healer/buffer (Heroic Defense + Glyph of Warding can help toughen up a shielder against her) or unless your tank is well-geared. I've actually heard of weaker parties killing her after they stocked up on flasks. I've also read posts from players who were down to a few poultices for this fight, and it took them something like 50 tries to beat her iirc. Luck also plays a part in this fight, apparently.

I'm curious how one attack from Branka could wipe out 3 people at once. Typically, my party is around lv 20 and they're wearing most of the same gear that they'd be fighting the archdemon with, but still...

Btw, Paragon of Her Kind was designed to be the most difficult of the 4 treaty quests, so if you happen to do this part early, the armor/defense of your companions would probably be much lower than what a lv 20 party might have as well as what skills/talents that are available. If you're having a lot of trouble with Paragon of Her Kind, try to save it for last in the future or perhaps 3rd.

I always find the Branka fight to be trivial. The trick is to dedicate a runner to using up all the Lyrium Veins at the beginning of the fight. For best result, the runner should be player controlled while the rest of the party distracts Branka and her team of golems. If done correctly, this prevents her from using them later in the fight.

I've always done the Orzammer treaty last, so I believe I am always closer to lvl 20 or so by the time I get to Branka. Having played through the game a few times, I also know what is coming and go into that battle well-prepared.

But if I recall the first time through that battle correctly, it did test my tactical skill to the limit. At that time I did not have any of the dlc, so my party did not have any of the special bonus items to boost their ratings. Without Vestments of the Seer the mage had very low armor ratings (even with Rock Armor on) and was much more difficult to keep alive.

I always do Orzammar last and I make all of my mages Arcane Warriors. That allows them to equip some rather nice armor to survive virtually any combat.

Just resurrecting the thread to say that Requiesta De Silencia's tip to tap all the lyrium veins is a huge help.
I was able to beat her witha level 18 party on hard without any potions or healing spells (Yes, I am an idiot for not putting any points in heal.). I saved the 2 golems at the cost of losing Shale and a summoned bear, at which point Leliana and my mage were able to plink away at her while Oghren, a newly summoned wolf and the golems distracted her. She wiped the floor with my party every time until I got Leliana to dash around using up all the lyrium.
