So what would be the problem with everyone being bisexual?

This way everyone is satisfied and no one can complain. I think this is the best solution.

Perhaps you have not seen the Dragon Age 2 forums? There would be some complaining.

I would not mind, but I think Casey Hudson made it clear that not everyone would be available for s/s relationships.

Apparently, in a world where people can shoot portable black holes out of the hands, robots can dance, and lizard men roam free, the idea of bisexuality is so unlikely that it sends people into paroxysms of rage?

That's the best that I got. I really don't care too much.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if it had been that way from the beginning. As it is now, having every single romance suddenly open to everyone would be a little too jarring for me, and feel artificial. I wouldn't mind seeing it in future installments, but it seems a bit excessive here.

Well, it would satisfy the people who insisted on S/S relationships; this way everyone gets everything.

I would like the possibility of s/s relationships to exist, so long as they're well-written, meaning we don't get the freight train of ~*love*~ that Anders in DA:2. (And I say that as someone who enjoyed the romance.) It just isn't important enough for me to fuss over this late in the game. I'd be arguing for it more strongly if we were looking at part two instead of part one.

I'm cool with it until they just start switching pronouns around. Anders at least mentions having a previous lover if you were using a male Hawke so that was nice.

Everyone else just seemed tacked on.

Well personally my Shep is too busy to be hair pulling and yearning like a teenager, he's got a galaxy to save but surely more player reactive elements equal much shallower character development. Well that was one of my niggles with the hawke lusting in dragon age 2, may be wrong but it seems a worrying trend to have no set sexuality be it bisexual, gay, straight or i only do psychic alien squid heads dude.

That's my three cents (keep the change).

I never got the complaints about DA2. If you play DA2 without reading about it first the only way to know that all the characters are bisexual is by flirting with them all. If you don't like that Fenris is bisexual, don't flirt with him then he's straight. Same goes for Merrill. Isabela is the only character that is bisexual no matter what you do, the other characters can be gay, straight or bi depending on how you play. So I don't think of DA2 as having all bisexual LIs.

This. Well most of it, because I don`t really know Anders.

I never played Dragon Age games

The issue mostly pertains to Anders; Isabella might count too, but she is monogamy impared and looking for a good time, whereas Anders is basically tossing rose petals at your feet between talking about how dark and dangerous he is. And apparently you gain rivalry points if you put the boot in, due to a glitch, which annoyed people.

Anders is by definition bisexual, since he'll go after women and mentions wanting them in Awakenings, but had a relationship with Karl- it not being mentioned does not mean it doesn't happen, as I very much doubt that that his dealings with Karl were decided when Mama Hawke gave birth, and the heavens informed the good mage whether he could have shenanigans with a male or not.

Debates on realism and changing established characters aside, there's always the complaint of accidental romances.

Plenty have already pointed out that Jacob can be MaleShep's bro, but FemShep's dialogue got unintentionally flirty/creepy with him. Course it's been said that the friendship paths are being improved, so hopefully things like that will be less of an issue.

Anders only makes the first move if Hawke uses the diplomatic dialogue, he's never flirted with any of my LadyHawkes because they've either been sarcastic or aggressive and I usually want rivalry points with him, typical. His relationship with Karl was left ambiguous but I figured they were shagging. Anders had already pinged my gaydar in Awakening so to me he hadn't changed at all (except his voice).

Which means you either have to be a complete ass, not talk to him, or rebuff him if you don't feel like being a complete ass and get a negative reaction. The fact remains, Anders comes on as a freight train unless you smack him up verbally early on.

Totally agree here. If you don't like the idea of some characters being bisexual, just don't flirt with them and you will never know. And the people who would like to romace those characters will get a chance, if they like same sex romances.

Only Torchwood can have EVERYONE be bisexual. :P Seriously though, I'd prefer a realistic gay character over "you can sleep with anyone!" fanservice like DA2.

Some people aren't arguing against same-sex implementation. What they're arguing is basically having a character all up in their grill with the flirting. I personally didn't care for Zevran's heavy handed flirting in DA:O, playing as a female who ultimately went with a dude.

For me, it reads a bit like harem syndrome. I'm totally cool with some s/s romances, even with existing characters if they write it convincingly. But everyone just feels... Like I'm in one of those fanfics where everyone is falling over the main character? I need some people who just don't feel that way about Shep.

(although I totally get why people want it too, with legitimate reasons. This is just how the da approach felt for me. And with only four characters, it was really the only option. But given the number in me3, it would bother me to be fending off 9+ people)

Being snarky with him doesn't seem bad. But yeah he does come on a little strong, still people made it out to be worse than it was. Rivalry points aren't bad but even if you want to go for friendship its easy to earn them back.

This.

As Hawke said "You could give him gold and he'd complain it was too heavy."

In my personal opinion, echoing the Enchilada's comment, I think if the option to make characters bisexual came up it should've been from the beginning or not at all. It feels particularly forced and weird for Shepard to be prevented from having those kinds of relationships in ME1 or 2 and now, all of the sudden, s/he is bi come ME3. It feels more like a pander to those groups who really wanted it rather than a serious storytelling decision. I personally am not against such relationships happening in video games. But I don't think it should be put in for the sake of it.
