One thing I thought was lacking in ME2 was the lack of a scene where Shepard is having trouble accepting he died and lost two years of his life. There's really not a scene where Shepard deals with this. In ME3 the stakes are even higher and you know the pressure is gotta be eating him/her up. Entire civilizations are riding on our decisions. No pressure right?

The scene should cover Project Lazarus, survivor's guilt, any losses occured during the suicide mission, and maybe any losses from decisions occuring in ME3. Something I think would do this justice is have Shepard make a Virmire situation and have it take a huge toll on Shepard. Shepard breaks down in fits of tears and his LI rushes to his side to calm him down and let him/her vent.

Maybe this could occur from watching Earth burn?

Thoughts?

P.S. I realize we do kind of had this in LotB and Female Shepards who romanced Jacob can discuss survivor's guilt. But I think this could help improve Shepard in some way or fashion.

Honestly, I agree. I know Shepard is Shepard and is supposed to be some bad ass hero who kicks ass and takes names. But Shepard is only human, and even with the Cerberus rebuild Shepard still has emotions and feelings. He/She can't be strong all the time, even the strongest of people doubt themselves from time to time. Keeping things inside isn't good for a person. And if Shepard can get things off his or her chest then things can be better off. I hope they take some emotion into account.

Forgot about that scene, but yeah. The stakes are way higher now that the Reapers have invaded and you know the pressure has to be getting to Shepard. Also mix friends dying and having every word or action you do/say be ripped apart by the people you serve/protect. You know Shepard has some emotional turmoil to overcome. Plus it adds some drama and story to the fold.

My Shepard is a determinator. She's not going to cry about the situation, she's going to put on her big girl panties and kick some serious Reaper ass.

If there's a crying scene, it had better be optional.

No.  He can't.

But in all seriousness...

I don't know if Shepard needs a breakdown scene, but it sure would be nice if he/she could express a little emotion now and then.  Maybe as a paragon or renegade dialogue choice.  Or an interrupt, or... something.  Just something to show there's still some humanity there.  The ME2 remorseless, undead, cybernetic killing machine thing just didn't do it for me.

Edit:  I know some people like playing Shepard as a remorseless undead cybernetic killing machine.  And I'm cool with that as an option.  I just like to have an option to play a more human Shepard who feels the weight of the galaxy on his shoulders and isn't 100% certain he can pull off yet another miracle this time.

Yes and no. I don't know if I want my Shepard to necessarily have a complete breakdown and burst into a fit of tears, but I do think they need to have a scene in which Shepard does become overwhelmed and upset. I mean he IS human. (well kinda) I also like the idea of the LI coming in to comfort him/her. I would like him/her to cry, but not uncontrollable wailing and sobbing. I would also like the player to be able to chose what Shepard says/does and not just a prerendered cut scene.

As long as it's optional sure. Like LOTSB Shep could say he was upset or that he was fine. That would be nice.

Maybe not tears, but a scene that shows Shepard having some type of emotional reaction to all that is going around them would be awesome.

Totally needs to happen. Would be awesome if the LI was involved, providing support.

It doesn't have to be overly emotional but how can Shepard NOT be worried about the whole dieing and being revived thing? Maybe there wasn't any time with the fast pace of events in ME2 to deal with it but now.. and with the Reapers on the doorstep and every species at each other's throats waiting on Shepard to solve all their problems.. the commander will be more stressed out than ever before. He/she is still a human being and human beings have limits on how much they can deal with at once. There's a lot for one person to deal with here and I'd very much like to see Shepard be vulnerable or unsure of things for once.
