(S)he needs at least two outburst moments in ME3.

I agree there should be one, but why two? I mean if they can manage to cover most if not all the emotional turmoil in one scene there shouldn't need to be more then one scene.:)

Two outburst moments: one before the first half of the story, and one for after any big plot twists near the climax of the game.

The game should also be peppered with optional personal  moments for Shepard. I know some people really don't want Shepard to be anything other than cool and composed 100% of the time (for god knows what reason), but the rest of us want him/her to be a bit more human. Even the toughest soldier in the galaxy is going to have internal conflict when the fate of a galaxy is on their shoulders.

I see your point and I sure don't want my Shepards to seems cool and composed 100% of the time either. Even though I agree with the need to Have Shepard show emotion more, I am of the mind that it should be seen by shepards LI, or have the LI go to Shepard in his/her quarters after a major outburst.

One thing I thought was lacking in ME2 was the lack of a scene where Shepard is having trouble accepting he died and lost two years of his life. There's really not a scene where Shepard deals with this. In ME3 the stakes are even higher and you know the pressure is gotta be eating him/her up. Entire civilizations are riding on our decisions. No pressure right?

The scene should cover Project Lazarus, survivor's guilt, any losses occured during the suicide mission, and maybe any losses from decisions occuring in ME3. Something I think would do this justice is have Shepard make a Virmire situation and have it take a huge toll on Shepard. Shepard breaks down in fits of tears and his LI rushes to his side to calm him down and let him/her vent.

Maybe this could occur from watching Earth burn?

Thoughts?

P.S. I realize we do kind of had this in LotB and Female Shepards who romanced Jacob can discuss survivor's guilt. But I think this could help improve Shepard in some way or fashion.

As a choice?

I don't want all my Shepards being forced to be emotional cry babies.

I'd like the choice between having a good cry and punching a wall. I know which my Shepards would pick but if people want the other option, that'll give it to them.

(Hint : /punch)

Def could use interupt system to make it even more engaging.

Why kid?  It'd be the perfect renegade interupt!  Even as a mostly paragon player I have a strong appreciation of the renegade interupts as I used them frequently in ME2.

Yeah it would be good for a renegade interupt, considering a breakdown like what is being talked about shows a side of Shepard no one has seen if ever. Well I don't know if you could even consider any reaction Shepard takes as either paragon or renegade. What ever reaction shown will be emotional not moral.:)

Renegade interupts are indeed fun... Especialy in the conversations where you can meta-game and know you can't avoid fight.

I completely agree, considering how much you've been through, I mean, you >died< and then you woke up and acted as though it was just a nap.

But, my Shepard already does have mini break downs. Ever since Ashley died on Virmire.

Every so often when a situation gets extremely out of control he gets very violent. Like pulling a gun on someone mid sentence, or snapping at a civilian. While that doesn't sound so strange, I feel I should mention hes usually a Paragon.

A Jack Bauer 'crying in the car' moment would be cool for Shepard... but should also be up to the player I think... some moment where you can either 'hold it in' or 'let go.'

I think Shepard shows plenty of emotion, but people discount it. Shepard can take it as he /she had what it akes to be an N7 and the first human spectre. Been through the wringer in the bast with background choices. I don't want to see Shepard break down or become unhinged ever. It would insult the character. Some down moments sure, but no weepy we don't stand a chance maudlin.

OK to mourn IF Garrus or Tali dies (don't get upset about this choice please) or any squadmate in the past two games. Even to mourn units of soldiers or whole cities decimated in some poignant scene. I don't want to see rivers of tears though. If Shepard wants to cry leave that for private time. Soldiers are supposed to be stoic and have you ever seen an honor guard soldier cry at a military funeral? Shepard is stronger than them.

Maybe confide in a teammate/li and voice concerns ok but totally breakdown? Nah war hero shep held the line single-handed and saved that colony he wouldnt have been able to do that while crying like a quarian with a tummy ache lol. would be interesting if different based on your origin though.

Shepard starts to cry and then Renegade-interrupts his tears by punching his own face.

One of my Sheparsds is unfeeling sociopath and I wanted to get as many squaddies killed in one playthrough. So I didn't upgrade the Normandy. When Jack died Shep had a little hissy fit. Ugh, I cringed. Completely broke my character. I hate forced emotion. Another thing I don't like is forced freindships (Liara , Garrus, and Tali stand out).

I wouldn't mind a scene or even two where Shepard has a LotSB style "shields down" conversation, but I don't know if it needs to be a breakdown.  In short:  Honest conversation with a friend would be great.  Weeping and screaming in his bath tub would not be cool at all.

I'd like to see Shep have a breakdown similar to Picard in First Contact. That part was excellent imo.

Not everyone deals with this kind of stuff in the same way.

I'm hoping for a little emotion from Shep, and I'm sure we will get it.

The question is more in the how of it; while I'm sure we will get such scenes in ME3, it matters to me that they are "done right."

I don't see a need to have one in there. Being an elite N7 I would imagine they trained most of that out of him. The same way they do in the real world. Not everyone has to have or show a moment of weakness or sadness because that is not how things always really are.
