One more gay-romance?

Just so that I don't misunderstand...is that what you would like for the elven William Wallace, or are you making an assumption that an elven William Wallace would be a LI?

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the difference between a kilt being a kilt and a kilt being a skirt. Image IPB

There isn't really an elvan nation that is being subjugated to draw comparisons to William Wallace. Furthermore, the Dalish seem to have a tenuous relationship with city elves given Velanna.

I don't think there is a currently a climate for a Elvan insurrection. Most City Elves don't give a ****, and most Dalish elves are more concerned with being left alone, so while this may be something that happens in the future, I don't see it happening any time soon, least of all on top of the stupid Mage/Templar War.

How about the leader of the Mage rebellion marching together with the Elves? They share the same hatred toward the chantry. What if the Mage leader is, in fact, also an elf?

What reason would elves have to join a mage rebellion?  What guarantee would there be that these rebellious mages wouldn't treat elves like how elves are treated in the Imperium?  What rumblings of subjugated elves have even arisen in this universe?  And a bunch of other questions.

A common danger unites even the bitterest enemies. But as for guarantees? There are none. So I wonder about it myself.

There is no. . ."common enemy?"

The elves don't have an issue with the Chantry, they have an issue with laws put down by the countries they inhabit.  Their fight would be with nations, not a religion, or whatever the mage/templar war is considered.

But was it not the Exalted March initiated by the Chantry destroyed their second homeland? The Dalish Elves are wandering in Thedas just because they want to keep their tradition. The City Elves were those who submitted to human laws and converted to Chantry religion....If the Dalish are to have a homeland again, which is their primary objective, they have to get rid of the Chantry, because it's the only way to prevent another Exalted March like the last time. And now it's the good time.

I don't know, I'm not really 100 percent sure that'll happen...I'm merely exploring the possibilities.

Ok, so the Dalish elves have problems with the chantry, but the City Elves really don't and some are Andrastians now.

The Dalish are a sparse minority.  Their largest settlement is in Rivain, which is not under chantry rule.   As far as I know, their second largest settlement is in Fereldan, an Andrastian country.   It just doesn't make sense to me.  The Dalish we have met largely want to be left alone, they aren't remotely close to building to any kind of fight against the Chantry.  It would come out of no where to me for a several century long revenge plot that we've seen no evidence of existing.  Dalish seem to have problems with humans, not Andrastians, from what we have seen.

But I just don't see it happening, for reasons mentioned by Harid.

There should be an editing program for screen-plays and game scripts that have increasing levels of cliche warnings and when you reach William Wallace quotes it just explodes.

I just realised the extra irony of the Orana picture. I forgot she was a slave.

But on a slightly serious note, as far as historical figures go, I would like to see an adaptation of Scipio Africanus. I always loved his story.

Excuse me? They were first subjugated during an Exalted March, a war declared by the chantry on a "heathen nation." The entire reason why the Dalish are even migratory is because the Chantry riled public opinion against them, got a bunch of countries together, and sacked Halamshiral. Their fight is with the Chantry, just as much as with individual nations. In fact, it is precisely because the nations of Thedas and the Chantry are at war that it would be the perfect opportunity to reclaim some of their lost territory. The Dalish are scattered, but we know they have a meeting every ten years. It's entirely possible that, given the climate of the war, they could decide to exploit the situation, under a particularly charismatic leader, and start attacking Orlesian settlements in the Dales.

And to the above, a Scipio Africanus-like Tevinter against a Qunari Hannibal would be so sweet. :D

Excellent idea, especailly if they could decpict the battles that Hannibal won at Lake Trasimene and Cannae where these Roman defeats help elevate Scipio to lead the battles at Ilipa and especailly at Zama.

I would love it, especially if they add more darker setting in DA3 ( hoping it is Orlais ). Since they say in Val Royeaux's alieanage elfs have it worse than anywhere, that is a good potentional. I already see it; one rape of an elven woman, on pogrom on false charges and you have a rampaging tens of thousands of elves killing everything shemlen.

I know everyone's heard it and said it but the pogrom scene from TW2 is the dark setting that is the thing to aspire to implement in a game with racism overtone.

Precisely, once there is a world war taken place in the human world. The Elves would be very stupid if they just sit around and do nothing. This Mage-Templar conflict is not as simple as it looks, the writer has layed down some really good background for the progress of the DA story. (Despite DA2's story is not really interesting)

My guess is that, also, the Qun would not be sitting around while the chantry has lost its most powerful weapon -- the circle mages. There will be no counter methods to fight against the Qunari cannons...
