I do wonder, what happens if Femshep is not attracted to any human woman at all, but is attracted by asari?

Don't wonder, it doesn't happen. Boobs are boobs, no matter if painted blue, black, brown or beige.

Plus:

Yeah, but some men aren't attracted to men with boobs. Or men who make themselves more like women. I imagine it's the same for woman as well.

I'll be blunt, if you can stick it inside their "Azure" then they're female.

Then she'll be picky :D You do know that most Bi/Lesbians are not attracted to ALL woman? *shrug* What I see on that pic is very differently female - she does not resemble male, nor does she look androgynous, since she looks human, with minor alterations, it lives us with female. So yes, I'd say you'll have to find female form at last somewhat attractive in order to like Asari.
A femShep who likes Asari but not human females would have to be Bisexual - interested in female form enough to find it attractive, but not enough to find any of interested human woman acceptable. Unlike human woman Asari "solve" several problems - starting from thous of the sexual hangups, since Asari mind meld swaps them all away, and ending with having children with your partner - sure the kids will be Asair, but they will inherit selected trails from Sheps as well.

It's stated explicitly in the game that they are maternal, so you could call them female in a sense, and they refer to each other as "she" but as Liara also explains, they aren't exactly women. Also, they don't see male or female when it comes to other species, they just see the species. As for what label you want to put on someone's orientation if a woman were to sleep with an Asari, who gives a damn?

Fair enough.

Human physical attraction is mostly visual. If it looks female and you want to get up on it, then you like females.
If Jane gets worked up over Asari strippers then she finds human females attractive. I could explain how external sexual indicators work but that's a massive textwall that I doubt anyone would read.

Asari are women. They have some sort of vagina that feels pleasure and pushes out babies. /thread

Nope, they are neither women nor female.

Calling and thinking that they are female is racist.
"No two species are identical. All must be judged on their own merits. Treating every species like one's own is racist. Even benign anthromorphism." - Legion

And Liara herself said that asari aren't women or female.

So... yeah, there's your answer.

I lol'd, hard. But I guess it is the truth, in our human eyes, they are women. And even the rest of the galaxy uses the terms she, her, ect.

It they look female, sound female, push out babies like females, and everyone uses terms like her and she than they're female. Samara even calls Morinth her DAUGHTER, not her offspring or her 'thing' she calls her daughter. In every way they are female. Deal with it.

Trying to define whether or not asari are female is futile. You wouldn't look at the seven different genders volus have and ask which one if female or which one is male, right? Those terms simply don't apply in that sort of situation. All we need to know is volus reproduction is, in it's own way, beautiful. Beautiful as only a horrifying mound of squealing, asthmatic, hyper dense space gerbils writhing around on top of eachother can be.

If asari could be said to have a gender, the term for it would be "fanservice".

However, if a human lady looks at an asari and starts to feel the bangs of lust, it seems fairly likely that she's going to find some other human ladies attractive as well.

Well, they refer to one another in feminine pronouns, have breast, feminine figures, female voices. By all counts, they are females.

Liara says asari are monogendered.  Meaning they have one gender ((Though gender is an inappropriate term, we should be using sex.  Sex = male/female.  Gender = masculine/feminine.))

So, Asari are monosexed.  That sex is very clearly female.

LOL at people trying to determine what are the asaris. Seriously guys, at Bioware the discussion must have been like that:

"-Hey!! How about we have an entire race of bangable blue babes?

-Sounds great! But wait... How are we going to justify that?

-Ehhh... I dunno, they screw with their minds?

-Okay lets implement that."

They are all wiminz. End of story.

The female part of a species on earth is determint by gaving the larger gamete being female only makes sence when their are 2 different genders.

That leaves hermaphrodites or asexual. Given that they mate outside their species I would say they are asexual. However mating with their own species can result in undesirable genetic diversity.

So altough they are fully able to reproduce asexually they have a way to transmit genetic materials.

Conclusion: Asari are asexual opportunistic hermaphrodites.

I suppose it is possible they have two or more sex organs though unlikely. I would think if they had both male and female they might adopt gender identities after all in humans there is variability there so you'd have some being born with one organ which would necessitate defining them differently perhaps. They can reproduce asexually, but maybe asari and asari use a different method which may result in an ardat-yakshi.

Asari don't have a concept of gay/straight/bisexual but I wonder if some asari do have a preference even if they don't put a label on it. It seems as though some asari prefer to keep to their own species despite the stigma attached to it so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume there are asari that might be attracted to human females but not human males.

I agree that is likely some would have different tastes. We have no idea their alien mindset since they have relations with all species which is aptly illustrated in the game turian, human, salarian, krogan, volus and none look similar.

For lack of a better term, asari are female.  They bear children, they resemble humanoid females, they refer to themselves in feminine pronouns, and they refer to their children as "daughters"

Of course, that's just a term of convenience for nonasari.  The asari themselves seem to hold gender concepts as meaningless.  Asari are asari.  Their reproduction follows rules totally outside the scope of any other race in the Mass Effect universe, so gender for them is a pointless distinction.

Geez, read the Codex.

And let's use logic. Female organisms are those that produce oocytes, or egg cells. Egg cells are fertilized by various means, but you can't have a new organism without an egg cell. You can have female humans, female cats, female houseplants, and female trees.

SO...

Since there are new asari, that is, since they didn't die out after one generation, it follows by OBVIOUS LOGIC that they produce oocytes. They have baby asari. You know what happens if you have a species without females? You don't have a species. Males are optional, but females are necessary from a reproductive standpoint. We have all-female species on Earth. It's not that exotic.

While parthenogenesis dose sexist in the real world, you have to admit that the asari method is unique:D

Well, that's because of "biotics", which don't exist in the real world. Basically the asari method is pretty standard parthenogenesis, it's just the method of stimulating autofertilization that is unique. But parthenogenetic organisms are by definition female, and thus so are asari.

Once and for all, if female Shepard likes this:

Then female Shepard IS a lesbian (or bisexual). Asari could consider herself to be a rabbit, for FemShep they look like human females and if FemShep is turned on by Asari, she IS LESBIAN/BI.

When I look at that, I see a woman. How can any.bod....any...b..ody..nice body:wub:
