I was thinking about it & will we have to go around the galaxy finding everyone again? It would make sense for some characters to stay with Shepard (Garrus & Grunt), while it's obvious that we'll have to find some others (Kaidan/Ash, Liara, possibly your ME2 LI since Miranda, perhaps Jacob & Tali' definitely seem like they have important stuff to do after ME2). But for some reason, I think Bioware's going to make us recruit everyone again. :P

Thoughts?

Not every squaddie is coming back as a full squad mate.

The squadmate situation is still very unclear. My guess would be that we meet up with our squadmates, take care of a situation with them a la LOTSB, then either say goodbye or have them come onto the Normandy. But like I said, it's a guess. Until we get more info, everything's up in the air.

Oh, I know that. But I think this applies to the squaddies who are confirmed to be major players so far. I just mentioned Grunt, because I think he's the ME2 squadie that's most likely to return.

Grunt most likely, I doubt i. Stats showed a lot of players did not even bother getting him.

I'd be surprised if repelling the reapers was relegated to second place behind squad-building like the collectors were. By now everyone knows the threat the reapers pose, having people join you for the sake of saving the galaxy seems like a given, why would they still be doing anything else? If anyone still demands I run errands for them before they help me I'll be tempted to just shoot them for their bad priorities and get on with my day.

I'd think some of them who will be joining you will be at the trail. Others sounds like you have to help them with something.

How we end up with out squaddies i've no idea but i'm pretty sure it won't be like ME2 atleast with us running around the whole galaxy getting our team and THEN fighting the Reapers

Kaidan/Ash and Vega find Shep, not the other way around, they're already on the Normandy picking up Shep at the end of the first mission on Earth, flyign from the Reapers attack.

I think that you start off with Ashley/Kaidan, Vega, Garrus/Tali (if they're alive) and potentially Liara (you may get her slightly later). You will then pick up 'optionals' on certain missions, depending on which choices you make and whether you decide to take them with you. Other ME1 and ME2 Squadmates will probably be temporary companions and major NPC's.

I doubt it.

Also, what do Miranda and Jacob have to do after the events of ME2? They both leave Cerberus with Shepard.

I can't really think of a reason why your team would not be on the normandy when the third game starts, unless the normandy blows up again or something.

It would be somewhat good to recruit everyone again cause that would guarantee they'd stay with you. Just visit the ME 2 survivors, help them with something and ask to join, without loyalty missions. This "Nobody is permanent in ME 3" broken record is hardly a better option.

I think some people might leave at the end of ME2 (not many), to help gather forces, like Legion, Tali, and Mordin, or go their own way, like Zaeed, Samara or Jack. To say you get a whole squad right away is probably going too far, but I don't see why you can't have some people around for the start, I just don't know who it'll be besides the VS.

Maker, I hope not. My FemShep's done recruiting unless the recruitee is a certain sniper still held up in Westminster Tower. She'd put her trial on hold to get Big Ben out of harms way, no doubt.

She's got this thing for marines with gruff 'n sexy accents who can snipe husks from several hundred yards and still manage to survive whilst everything else goes to hell around 'em. I have absolutely no idea where she gets this interest from. Image IPB

Well the VS and the new guy... what's his name? Are probably given to us when we get the Normandy. Tali might be there if she was exiled otherwise she'd be at the fleet. Jacob might be there, Miranda is probably being debriefed by the Alliance or still in Cerberus...

Wait, maybe it's got lots of variables.

I will not go around recruiting everyone again, especially Liara. I did it Mass Effect 1, then I didn't have her in Mass Effect 2, but then did for three missions. And I recruited everyone in ME2 and all loyalty missions.

Especially since Liara is my love interest, she better be on the Normandy primed and ready.

Blatant lie. You have to do his mission to obtain him just to progress the main story. Iam also sure 90% of everyone activated his tank.

My guess is a much more streamlined game in which you meet up with most of your former companions temporarily (LOTSB), complete a mission or two with them, and then move on. You'll have three or four permanent companions and that is it. Everyone else will be doing important "prepare the galaxy type stuff" on their own.

My assumption is that Bioware wants to focus on story/character development over open world type gameplay to wrap this up, and we won't get nearly the freedom to explore that we had in previous games. I mean look how streamlined from ME to ME2.

You're spot on. According to BW data, only about 10% of the players didn't release him from the tank: www.destructoid.com/mass-effect-2-player-choice-statistics-are-surprising-188362.phtml

But then he can die during SM as any other party member in ME2 and it's not like he's extremly popular like Tali and/or Garrus, so I doubt he will be perma/major squaddie.

God I hope I don't have to drive all over town picking everyone back up. Again.

Squaddies need to get their own ride, even if it's a damn hooptie.

However they actually handle the squadmate makeup Temp/permanent etc, i think the storyline suggests that we'll have to re-recruit most of the returns again.

But i think it'll be more fluid than me2 and quite similar to me1, in that we'll have to go to certain places because of the mission anyway and it'll be while we're in these places that the recruitment itself will take place.

For example we have to go to the migrant fleet and while we're there Tali will team up with us and perhaps stay or we go to somewhere like tuchunka and we get the same situation with Grunt.

But the recruitments unlike in me2 will be the secondary goal of the mission, so instead of going to purgatory because we have to recruit Jack it'll be more we're going to the migrant fleet because we need their help, while we're there we get the option of re-recruiting Tali as basically a bonus to the main mission kinda thing.

That's exactly how I suspect it will turn out.

I concur.  This is a really good guess, mine as well.

You will "run into" squad-members, they will assist you if you want them to, and maybe a few will or can come with you on the Normandy...or maybe your LI will be the only one on the Normandy with you, the rest just "show-up" conveniently.  Hell, they might just kill off some of the squadmates without you being able to do anything.
I doubt we see anything like in ME2 or ME1

Why can't Shepard just give a few calls? Over and over and over he has to recruit the same b*tches. This is getting old
