Kasumi has the most powerful power in the game. Shadow Strike. That's why I'm taking her with me all the time.

I generally change companions in every mission. The less used are Jack and Jacob, the most used are Miranda, Thane and Garrus (though I'm going to buy Kasumi dlc soon, so things could change. I heard she has a powerful power).

I always try to use everyone equaly to make sure they have enough screen time. And that was way easier when I had just 6 party members... In ME 2 the party is just way too numerous for my liking. I hope they rectify it in ME 3.

I take Jack with me everywhere just because I like her so so much, Mordin comes close second. Everyone else is optional, but I rarely use Tali, Jacob, and Miranda.

I prefer to mix it up to keep it entertaining. It also feels weird to me for some reason, when I recruit someone and they sit on the normandy the whole time. Still, there are characters I use more than others usually leaves Zaeed, Jacob and Mordin(even though I love him!) fighting hte least.

Are you the same way? Or do you always pick the best for your class or mission?

I try to use everyone at least a couple of times in a playthrough becaue like you said it feels wrong to just have them on the Normandy and not use them.  With that said I do tend to favor certain squadmates over others and certain missions lend themselves to certain squadmates because of their abilities.

No seriously. Shadow Strike is affective against Shields, Barriers, and Armor. It's like an Overload/Warp that also heals Kasumi.

And then you give her the Improved Flash Grenade and you're tooling around the galaxy with a beast. Kasumi's a monster if used correctly.

It's hard to take anyone in Miranda's place when she has Warp, Overload, and Cerberus Officer.

I've used them all, though not on the same playthrough.  My canon run I kept gravitating back to femshep, Miranda, and Kasumi.  Three ladies saving the galaxy and lookin darn good while doing it.  B)

I rotate squadmates out and use them all more or less equally in both games. From a story perspective it doesn't make much sense to have squadmates sitting on the Normandy and doing nothing for most (or all) of the game.

I never used Jacob, Thane, Jack, Tali or Kasumi. There were too many squadmates in the game and many of them just seemed to have the same gameplay except one different power.

I used everyone from time to time. But mostly stick to Tali and Garrus. I had my own tactics for using them.

I loved the large team! I was sad to hear the ME3 squad'll be smaller.

On Insanity I use Tali (with the pistol) and Grunt. With them I have no problem with my sentinel.

That is pretty cool, I prefer the Mattock tho(chose the widow).

Almost always use Miranda both for the mechanical benefits and because I find her one of the most interesting characters. Tali and Jacob I justify not using by having important roles on the ship (Chief Engineer and Armoury Officer) whilst my Shep finds Thane's and Samara's attitudes somewhat unpredicable and hence rarely if ever uses them (the Justicar code and Thane's ideas about his body doing the killing).

Then again I am a vanguard so that tends to alter who I perceive as being useful and/or interesting.

Only my "favorites" from each games most of the time.
ME1 Liara + Wrex (sometimes Garrus/Ashley/Kaiden)
ME2 Miranda + Grunt (sometimes Garrus/Legion)

I'm more happy the way they're doing it in ME3, have a smaller permanent squad but have others from previous come in and out so they all get involved.

Kasumi is extremely useful at distracting YMIR mechs with her shadow strike ability. She appears behind the mech, hits it, the mech slowly turns around (giving you the chance to shoot, warp, overload, whatever), he tries to hit her, misses, she dissapears, mech slowly turns back. Then repeat the procedure. It makes the YMIR fights extremely easy.

Mordin is incredibly useful against organics(he's crap against mechs & geth though), especially collectors. Incinerate does lots of damage to armor & health, and while doing so the enemy can't attack, his Neural shockwave is great aswell, paralyzing and permanently impairing your enemies accuracy, and Cryo blast is a great ability aswell. The easiest time I've had in the final mission was with Miranda & Mordin. Unstable warp with Incineration blast is incredibly effective against groups of collectors.

I don't use Samara, Jacob & Thane much either.

In ME1, Garrus and Wrex were my go-to team. They're the only members I've unlocked the 'played the game with the majority of' cheevos.

In ME2, in part one I prefer Garrus and Mordin. In part 2, Thane is my go-to guy, and I'll rotate as needed, but I usually end up taking Legion or Garrus with me everywhere else.

My least used characters are Jack and Samara. As an adept, pure biotic characters end up being sort of redundant for me especially since neither have warp and I like to warp bomb my little heart out. I rarely get much use out of Tali, Jacob, and Miranda as well, mostly because Miranda thinks she's the Matrix and ends up eating bullets, Tali is also delicate and I just prefer not bringing Jacob along.

I try to keep a rotation going, which is why I didn't like having 12 squadmates in ME2, too difficult giving everyone fair playing time.

i always take Garrus. but i often switch it up where its appropriate. like i took grunt to Tuchunka etc. Quite like Thane and Garrus, they're a pair of bros who i always have a good time bro'ing out with.
