Did you give him krogan pureblood + his armor boost?
He was almost unstopable on my insanity run, I just sent him foward with the krogan shotgun, and let him tank crap. Me and the other squad memeber just focused fired whatever was dumb enough to get in his way lol

I mix it up. I try and keep the team balanced, and use knowledge of levels from past playthroughs to decide who'd be useful.
I use everyone but Garrus, Miranda and Mordin probably get used most.

it's really hard to use squadies with the way they are acquired
and the way loyalty works... I mean their canon moves are locked for half the game before shadow broker if we had spent most of their squad points couldn't do much with their useful "powers"
try 2 have a play through using each one...

Maybe I should clarify my a bit
I mainly use Grunt, Garrus, Legion, Miranda, Zaeed. Others usually only for loyalty missions.

I use Garrus and Miranda for most of the missions. He has 'reach' (combat skills and tech damage) and she has 'flexibility' (biotics and tech damage)
That said I also Grunt and occasionally Zaeed. I've grown used to using Jacob and Garrus on the Infiltration run of the Suicide Mission though; they make a helluva team.

I use them all except from Jacob, such a dull character the only time I liked him was when you mention having a bar on the next Normandy.
