Have you been satisfied with the DA2's LI ?, Who do you prefer ? I feel that there is much less enthusiasm among boys than among girls. Or you are simply more shy on the BSN, which would be surprising after what i'v seen with Mass effect 2. I can not identify a trend, you are so few to express it.

The thread of the female characters  are not moving much since the release of Dragon Age. Where are you ?

Merrill.

Honestly I can't even bring myself to romance anyone else without it bringing me pain, because I love Merrill that much.

As much as I love DAO's female LIs, Merrill took the number one spot for me.

I'm also one of the most vocal Merrill supporters.

Quite happy with them, myself. Merrill and Isabela are both impossible for me to dislike.

I've yet to really try the male romances. Partly because I simply haven't played through Dragon Age 2 to completion more than twice, and partly because I don't actually like Anders all that much, and Fenris keeps taking off after his act two personal quest when I ask him to stay. I lack the enthusiasm to try and work out where I was going wrong.

As for why the Anders thread is an unstoppable whirlwind of activity compared to the others, I can only speculate wildly.

Liked Anders though some of the lines were unbearably corny... don't like Fenris.

I have a hard time picking between the two girls, not because of how much I like them, but because of how thick they can be in some areas. Isabella did nothing but ****** me off when she went and decided that heart felt "I love you" conversation didn't mean much the moment Zevran came around, and Merrill can be really really sweet but at the same time I don't think shes the sharpest tool in the shed(she's more like the rubber mallet).

Though I do have to give them props for making me sweat bullets durring the "were do we go from here" conversation you get with each of them after the very lousy romance scene.

I like Merrill and Isabella, but to be honest I liked Merrill better in the first game than in the second. It was a small part and she didn't get many lines but she was a different and more confident Merrill.

Anders and Fenris are both jerks, the opposite end of the same spectrum of obnoxiousness that keeps them out of my party. So I've never mustered the enthusiasm to pursue them.

Aveline is interesting, if not a proper love interest. I actually like her more for not being susceptible to my dubious charms.

Sweat bullets?  All you have to do is click the conversation line that has the HUGE heart button on it and BAM, insta-romance.

Isabella was too quick to pounce on you, imo.  I felt like I had barely said "hi" and we were doing the horizontal tango.  Now I know that is just her personality, but I think relationships are more exciting, and far more rewarding, if you are forced to work hard to get them.

As for Merrill, I dunno.  To me, she appeared and acted like a young girl rather than a woman, so I couldn't get past the Chris Hansen "have a seat" factor of the relationship.

Because it's her own clan, the people she's lived with her whole life. Of course she's going to be more confident around them, which she still is in DA2. She pretty much tells Ilen that the clan needs to shove their fear of blood magic up their ass. She's not confident around humans because she's never been around them before. It's a new experience for her.

Only ever went through the Isabela path: I haven't actually got around to doing a second full playthrough of DA2, yet. I've got several Origins endgames I want to set up for import, first.

Cassandra: Wait, a moment. I thought you said the Champion and the pirate were now...
Varric: Huh? Oh, yeah, that was later.

S'how it works out in my head. I can't really take the order of quest completion all too seriously in this game.

Isabela doesn't try to get into Hawke's pants with a relationship in mind. If anything, the actual relationship building part of her romance starts after the two of them have slept together. They aren't really 'together' in any real sense of the word until a good long while afterwards.

She's a lot like Zevran in that regard, come to think of it.

if you take the time with Anders, try to ignore is painful whinyness (seriously people said Carth was whiny? Carth wasnt whiny! Not compared to this pain in the ass lol) and you get what I felt was the best romance out of the lot.

For me it was really bittersweet and heartbreaking.

Not romanced Merill yet.

True enough, but I do like her more in the dalish introduction.

Not a male gamer, but my male PCs go for Anders, mostly, and once in a while Isabela.

From a straight male perspective my only real choice is Isabela. Merrill is way to childlike for me (wish they hadn't redesigned elves) and the male/male romances just aren't for me.

Isabela. Just... Isabela. My favourite female character in gaming history (except maybe for Kreia).

Girls - watch out for Anders - he is gay :P You can be disappointed. Don't know what happened :-D In Awakening he clearly said that he want future with nice girl by his side.

I never been one who like romances in games. It cannot be compare to real womens in any way (obvious), they are simple (say something nice - have a kiss, do something nice - have a sex, in DA II you just click big glowing yellow heart and bam - have a sex) and they are unrelated to story and quests. Even sex scene is boring. Learn from Witcher 2 Bioware.
Bioware should learn something from Sid Mayers also. Your wife could be kidnapped etc. So if you have romances in game - use it. Even Obisdian implemented something like romance in Alpha Protocol and allow you you choose between bombing some people or killing your girl :P

So I didn't like all that romance thing in DAO and DA II because they were stupid in my opinion. But I did like part where Aveline try to win some soldier heart. It was well made and funny :-D Funny because it remind me some real experiences :-D (not that I was running around killing robbers so girl can have a normal talk or something ;-D).

Neither of the two girls are really my type.

-Merrill is a child trapped in an adult's body, she cuts herself, and she's too stupid to realize that working with demons is a bad idea. I also don't find her physically attractive, thanks to the elf redesign. Not to mention her giant, blow up doll boobs :P.

-Isabella is very pretty, except for that chin piercing. I'm just not into facial piercings. Her hyper-sexuality is a huge turn off for me, too.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a three year gap between "hi, help me kill some fools" and the horizontal tango?  If so, lady *really* took her time, no?

I dislike the LI of DA2. I just got done replaying Mass Effect 2 and DA:O and I dislike them even more now.

Completed DA2 four times now and during all four playthroughs have romanced different companions. As such there is only one who I haven't romanced yet and they technically aren't a proper love interest from what I gather though the option is there as it were.

Unfortunately I feel that the DA2 romances pales in comparison to DAO's. While the timeline is over a longer period of time in comparison to DAO's, the lack of interaction by comparison makes it feel a bit more artificial (not that any of this is real of course) along the lines of what I felt in the Mass Effect games. Somehow that lack of interaction and dialogue makes the development of the romances feel stilted.

Isabela is much like Zevran in this case. The backdrop is perhaps deeper for what is on the surface a very superficial character, but as the romance is pursued you realise there is more to it than that; much like Zevran or even Morrigan.

Anders' is the most conflicted, and as such I find that the most intriguing.

On a personal note I rarely ever bother posting in the character appreciation threads regardless of my likes/dislikes of the characters. (I take it that the intention of this thread is to discover why such threads haven't been that active.) What I will say is that I didn't feel captivated by any of the romances in DA2 like I did in DAO, and Varric was by far my favourite character in DA2.

I played as Female Hawke.... just because I really liked her voice acting (much, much, much better than male) and default appearance..... I romanced Isabella, because I disliked any other potential LIs as LIs...... but soon I regreted this because ended disliking her. I started to preffer Fenris.... but nothing could be done.

I tried to end the relationship with her but...... I had no option! The only thing I could do is saying "Don't say anything you could regret" when she was about to confess.
