Hey look John Epler, it's a 'specific groups, let's discuss DA2' thread.

I thought those didn't exist.

That is so fascinating, you really like romances yes?

You were disappointed with Sebastian ? Worse with Aveline. Because it is not even a flirt. In reality she doesn't take into account what Hawk said.

I think she does hear what you say but doesn't act on it till later. (Bah no spoiler area)

I'm not a male gamer, but I don't see why it matters since I play both male and female characters. Plus, I'm a lesbian, so as far as my personal preferences go, obviously they'd be between Isabela and Merrill. I think Merrill is adorable and shun everyone who could possibly hate her, but she's more of a little sister than a romantic option for me. Isabela, though, is beautiful, independent, strong, and sensual. She's a dream. ;)

Also, lol... I thought the Bioware forums were over the "OMG Anders hit on me and it made me sooo uncomfortable" whining but apparently not. Get over it. Sometimes people will like you and they will make the first move, even if you don't reciprocate romantic interest. Anders does the same thing for a female Hawke, too. Turn them down and move on.

I always assumed that Anders and Isabela were the more "canon" love interests. Isabela of course kisses Hawke in the trailer, but Anders seems also like he's one that Hawke is supposed to get with. Just like in DAO, Alistair or Morrigan seem like who the Warden is really "supposed" to get with.

But I only play gay romances, and whenever I play male!Hawke with the intent of romancing Anders, I just get too caught up in Fenris's puppy eyes... damn him!

None of the romances really appealed to me. If I wasn't such a completionist I probably wouldn't have romanced anyone.

I agree but some people can get really upset...easily. If I remember right that was intended having one hit on Hawke just to kind of break the mold since the rest do not. (I don't count Isabela's joining scene remark because that's all it is a comment).

I think so too even tho Izzy is an optional companion.

Both are okay, but nothing memorable for me. Merrill(rival) I liked more than Isabela which was unexpected. I enjoyed their characters more without the romance however.

I don't like any of the romance options. Three traitors and an elf with bigger issues than Everest, and for DLC a prince who should be pursuing his claim to the throne of Starkhaven rather than languishing in the Chantry, and convincing him otherwise is not going to happen since I agree with him on many issues. So male and female Hawke both remain celibate. It's a shame male Hawke can't romance the Reinhart girl and female Hawke the seneschal's son, as proposed by Leandra. Mother always knows best...

Well said.

Indeed, as a romance, LI, not so appetizing, and probably I would have preferred them more just as a friend. With the possibility of Flirt as well. ( Isabela ! :D )

Why do people keep calling these romances? what was romantic about doing a quest or two and suddenly and inexplicably getting your leg over?

The most romantic and entertaining part of da2 was Avalines clumsy comprehension of relationships.

@ OP; No, found them all to be pretty lackluster. Possibly because both females were equally annoying and neither had as much depth as, say, Leliana or Morrigan (I hated Morrigan but found her generally more tolerable than anything in DA2). Just about the only thing DA2 managed to do right was Avaline. Ever since Bioware got on this dating game kick I have wanted to see a character you could try to romance but could never quite get. Avaline is probably as close as we will see. In fact with the direction they took sexual preferences I am sure we will see even less depth of character in the years to come.

Merrill.

Honestly I can't even bring myself to romance anyone else without it bringing me pain, because I love Merrill that much.

As much as I love DAO's female LIs, Merrill took the number one spot for me.

I'm also one of the most vocal Merrill supporters.

This. ^^

Minus the Bethany flirt, this is basically how it went for me.
