I'm okay with same-sex relationships, I just don't want them to take the DA2 route.

Too bad bisexuality is the cheapest way to add romance options, as it allows one single character to be on two romance paths with hardly any new lines/animations added.
Also, same sex romance has already been present in both ME 1 and ME 2, for femShep (Liara in 1, Kelly in 2). So OP complains are a bit late.

LGTB folk are reaaaalllly sensitive. It's one thing to be like "damn these guys don't want us represented" it's another to say "if you don't agree with our lifestyle you are a bigot". That's like me condemning everyone on these boards for eating pork and not go to mosque on Fridays. Pull you heads out your asses please.

Being born gay ain't nothing like chosing not to eat pork or go to mosque on Fridays. Get some basic facts knowledge first.

Either you don't know what a bigot is, or you didn't read the OP's post at all.

Oh, of course. How could I forget such a convenient and oversimplified explanation.

Because you don't like facts.

Now I understand. The "born that way" mentality doesn't explain quite a bit of this same sex nonsense but now I know in my heart that it is true because you have said it is fact. I'll take your word over observations any day, especially when you're rationalizing your lifestyle. Silly me.

Perhaps that puts into perspective how stupid what you just said was. But then again, perhaps not.

The thing is, OP, my Shepard dosen't actually know the orientation of most of his crew, he dose not ask because it's not any of his business. What he does know of the crew came from him asking them fairly specific questions about themselves. Heck finding out Ashley was religious came about only because he kept talking to her, and even then I had the option of shutting her down about her faith.

Why is having some characters being gay a problem, especially when it won't come up unless you start talking to them about it?

I mean at no point across two games have any of your crew memebers (Alliance or Cerberus) caused a problem due to their sexual orientation. Heck the two crew conflicts you could run into were based either around a former Cerberus victim and the local Cerberus cheerleader having it out, or the Quarian and the Geth having a disagreement. So yeah, the people in your command are, in general, professonals and are unlikely to let a persons sexual orientation to impede the mission.

Nope, you know yourself it's a fact. Unless of course you're a 100% straight man but you can pop a boner watching a guy to prove me it's a choice. C'mon, do it.

Well recently i found out their is going to be a same sex romance in the upcoming ME3 and at first i didnt really care but when i started to think about it the only real option would be for Vega, the new alaince marine to join your squad, be the new gay squadmate.

Now this isnt a gay bashing thread so any hateful people please refraim from posting, but seriously bioware what are you thinking? first of all their arent to many gays in the military their are even less in the Marine, and Second it would be even more impossible for their to be a homosexual in the infantry ecspecially as some one as experienced as Vega is made out to be.

Sooooo I beleive it necessary that bioware make an option that would strip out all gay dialog and romance from the game because seriously who wants to hear about Vega's feelings? all i want to hear from him is how much he loves killing some ugly aliens

I won't bother touching the greater issue here, but the OP is lol.

If somebody is gay or is a woman and they can perform the same combat role as a straight man than whats the problem with them fighting and dying like regular soldiers? Gay people are attracted to the same sex. Big deal.

No, it isn't. In fact, it's nothing like that at all.

Now, if there were threads here requesting - nay, demanding - that games include a Muslim toggle, the situation might be more similar. I'd feel perfectly justified in calling people out on their petty ignorance if that happened, too.

So one token option no choice, got it. DA2 has a great many faults but that wasn't one of them since for the first time in a Bioware game it finally gave me some choice, the same choice that heterosexuals get.

But you already have the option, simply do not show anything more than a friendly/professional interest in any character and you are unlikely to discover that they are gay/bi/shepard-sexual.

Being homosexual is a choice. Period. We are not animals in the sense that we aren't sapient. There are two genders. For our species to continue these genders need to procreate, We aren't monkeys swinging from a tree who are devoid of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. If you like other men, that's fine it's your life and you have the free will to make that choice. However don't tell me that choice was made for you unwillingly. That's insulting my intelligence.

Being "born" gay is not the same as being born black or white. No matter how much you try to spin it it will never be the same.

1) Romances and romance dialogues are optional. You only get them if you go after them.

2) ME is set in the future, so there's no way to make generalisations about sexual orientation.

3) There are already homosexual options and characters in ME - Liara, the Consort, and Kelly, are all female romance options and Jack mentions being bi (or at the very least implies she's slept with women). EDIT: Also, the entire asari species.

In mass effect 2 both Miranda and Garrus do not show an interest in you until you initiate dialogue that suggests you are romantically interested in them. Just do not pick that dialoge option and you will never know.
