you know i started this just so i could voice my opinion on the topic in hopes that Bioware would do something that would be fair to both sides but now seeing all this fighting just to have an option that would change the dialog so that you can still talk to your squadmates with out even hinting their sexual orientation seems like a fair compromise for the strait and the gays dont know why you guys keep on fighting

Being homosexual is a choice. Period. We are not animals in the sense that we aren't sapient. There are two genders. For our species to continue these genders need to procreate, We aren't monkeys swinging from a tree who are devoid of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. If you like other men, that's fine it's your life and you have the free will to make that choice. However don't tell me that choice was made for you unwillingly. That's insulting my intelligence.

LMAO that's the only argument I'm hearing. Go do this and enjoy it. Thanks for proving my point.

Or don't go out and do this and don't enjoy it.

Either way works.

first of all their arent to many gays in the military their are even less in the Marine, and Second it would be even more impossible for their to be a homosexual in the infantry ecspecially as some one as experienced as Vega is made out to be.

Having served as a rifleman in an infantry battalion (with a girl as our squad MG3 gunner) I call bull**** on every statement you just made.

The US military in general has an attitude problem in regards to gay people. It's a cultural problem that will dissipate over time. Just as racial segregation gradually dissipated.

They weren't so tough when they came over here to practice winter warfare in northern norway during the cold response exercise and 30% had to sit it out due to frost injuries though. -50 degrees C shuts people up pretty nicely.

People all i want is for their to be an option thats it nothing more but you ass holes want to say im wrong for wanting that well all i can say is for you guys not to get so but hurt so easily

But you already have the option, simply do not show anything more than a friendly/professional interest in any character and you are unlikely to discover that they are gay/bi/shepard-sexual.

yeah but i still want to talk to the character hes a grunt and a marine so he already is a badass why cant they just change the dialog to something else thats all

In mass effect 2 both Miranda and Garrus do not show an interest in you until you initiate dialogue that suggests you are romantically interested in them. Just do not pick that dialoge option and you will never know.

dude i get what your saying i agree but i still just can not beleive that bioware is making a marine infantrymen a gay im sorry but that is stupid as hell

Why? Because you haven't personally, to your knowledge, met a gay marine? Considering the policy on being openly gay in the US military I'm not surprised. That said, are you telling me right now, that there's no way a gay man would join the Marines out of a sense of duty, and a desire to protect the freedoms of a country he loves just as much as you?

i get what your saying man and i have met a gay marine but none of which are in the infantry because their will never be any openly gay men in the infantry if you were part of the military you would no why so i cant expect for any of you to understand

Be cautious. The "go do it" crowd are trying to indoctrinate you into gaydom.

If you can't do it, your point and argument is invaild. Simple. What, don't like it? Ain't out problem. You post something, we tell you "well, you can easily prove it", you say you can't. Conclusion. You lose. Sorry.

It is not an opinion. It is a fear. There is a name for it: Homophobia. Like any other phobia it can be cured. It's your choice to keep that fear.

Wrong. If only been out of the USAF for 2 years. I didn't know what true racism and discrimination was until after I graduated from basic.

This thread was never going to end well, OP began with a statement that was far more insulting than he obviously realized, and has proven to be somewhat resistant to the idea of women and gays being fully capable of doing the same type of work as any other soldier on the ground.

The fact that a woman has won the medal of honor, and he still made that earlier statement says a lot about the ops mindset.

Here OP, a link to a page listing some of the Medals your sisters in arms have earned: http://userpages.aug...arb/medals.html

I hope it doesn't.

Even if the OP is arguing a losing side. It's still rather interesting to see it play out.

What's with this postmodernism BS?

"I never see gays in the infantry so there must not be any!"

Seriously, this is the level of argument we're going to have here?

Depends on how fast people post. Its got about 45 minutes or so of life yet. Just enough time for the devs to get into work, grab a cup of coffee, and sigh deeply.

And your argument 'it's a choice" remains a nonsense 'cause you can't prove it as you should if you want it to be true. :) You can scream and change the topic as much as you want, your agrument still FAILED :)

Homosexuality is lust plain and simple. Me wanting to **** a girl for the sake of ****ing a girl is lust all the same.

Go make out with a man out of lust, and enjoy it.  Then you may say homosexuality is a choice.

I have a theory that the people who says homosexuality is a choice are really closeted homosexuals suppressing their desires, so for them it is a choice. They choose to live a life of self-loathing, repression and denial, jealously lashing out at those who had the fortune to be raised in an environment that didn't demand aggressive self-deception. Ted Haggard, George Rekers and Larry Craig seem to support the pattern.

Granted, his argument did bring levity and humour to a more or less insane thread so he does get points for that.

Crazy little volus knows how to keep it real.

Hmm..... well one of the few people I know that were actually in the military while I knew them was bisexual. And that was before "Don't Ask Don't Tell" was repealed. Also, this is how many years into the future? Surely attitudes about such trivial things as orientation have progressed by then. Also, the title of this made me lol because all I could think of was Shep going "No ****** bro, no ******!"

lol yeah im still pissed that we got rid of dont ask dont tell and true maybe in the future they would fix the problem but we are in the present not the future so it doesnt change how i feel even though the game is in the future

Repealing it was a step toward fixing the problem.
